A pretty important Slimming World question

I started SW almost 2 weeks ago and lost 3lbs in my first week. But tbh I had just had a mega chocfest so was bound to have a decent loss just by eating normally.

Anyway, question is this : how on earth can SW work on the premise that you can eat as much as you like??? I just feel like I have embraced this part rather too enthusiastically. I am a greedy pig in all honesty and love eating, so I HAVE eaten as much as possible. And of course, SW kind of encourages you to do so as so many foods are free. Do you find that you self-regulate or do you just really go for it portion-wise and then still lose lbs?!

I did it years ago and it worked a treat.

I had pasta coming out of my ears.

Lost lots.

Good luck!

I wondered about this too.

I'm now on Day 17 of SW. Week 1 I lost 7lbs - yay! Week 2 I put on a pound. GRRRRRRR.

It doesn't quite compute for me.

can I revive this thread please...

I have done SW years ago and recall loosing weight.

I lost around 2 stone on WW last yr and slowly its creaping back on so I decided to give SW another go.

I have done 2 weeks and maintained...Hmm.
Im due to weigh again tomorrow and im 100% I haven't lost weight.
I have stuck to red/green and have kept within my sins as much as possible (only slipped up on ds's birthday.. no buffet BUT had a few bits from indian takeway and a few drinks..)

I feel bloated contantly and not like I should feel on a diet..

any advice..?

I looked at it and thought I'd never be able to loose weight? I doubt I'd even be able to maintain my target weight eating that much.

It clearly works, but do slimming worlders manage get to target weight on this diet - my target is BMI 22.5 and I can't imagine that it would work to get BMI that low - although can see that could get to say 25.

Shhhh · 10/02/2011 20:11

Im sure though once you get to around target don't you then play around the the a's & b's..?

Im pretty sure from when I tried it years ago they would reduce the amount of a's and b's you had to get your to the target weight and to maintain it..

BUT don't you think a BMI of 22 is to low..? Healthy I know if 20-25 so why not aim for a BMI of 25 and see how you feel once there..?

Its not as far away then and may be a better weight for you, gives you more to play with iykwim...

Well, I have weighed today, my 2nd week and yet another maintain..Hmm.

Im very sceptical about it..I must admit...

Foreverondiet · 10/02/2011 20:59

Shhh - just wondering haven't done SW. Did tescodiets (like weightwatchers) strated with BMI of 30 but weight loss slowed right down at BMI of 25... even though I was still a stone over pre-pregnancy weight. Now doing low carb and its 23.5, only 4lbs to go, aiming for 22.5. Sort of think that its a good weight as that was my pre-pregnancy weight and its right in the middle of the healthy weight range of 20-25 (and I am of medium build).

Shhhh · 10/02/2011 21:51

well go for it them ! You sound like you are doing well.. tbh I may look at going back to ww or doing low/zero carbs...?

IloveDMs · 10/02/2011 22:25

If you read the book you will see you must fill each plate of food with a third of superfree foods, ie fruit or veg. That is how it works. So you can have loads of pasta but you must have veg with it. Basically any time you eat, always have superfree food at the same time. Try and eat lots of speed foods too as they go in one end and out of the other. I think you must be careful of portion size too, especially if you only have a small amount to lose. I also try and vary my exercise. I find that since september my tastes have changed. I eat smaller portions now and too many biscuits or choc make me feel very I'll. Good luck with the diet OP!

SecretSlattern · 10/02/2011 22:29

I've lost 1 stone 1 pound on SW in 4 weeks, so it does work!

Shhhh · 11/02/2011 11:23

ILOVE, isn't that for the extra easy side of the diet..? I thought with the red/green days you ate from the red/green foods section and inc free foods. I thought the 1/3 part was just for the extra easy bit..?

If so this must have changed recently..?
