Stupid question alert! How much 'weight' is one dress size?

Im starting on Monday doing WW, though not through meeting or online as I cant afford it every month, but I have been before and got all the info.

Im currently an 18/20 and would like to start off being comfortable in an 18 rather than the 'top end' of 18/20 and then down to 16 and evenually (and I stress eventually) be a 14 again, so for starters Im thinking 'Id like to drop a dress size', but how much weight is that? Is there a chart somewhere or something?

I know its a personal thing and whats right for one isnt right for another, just a rough idea.

Im a bridesmaid in sept and would dearly love to be a healthly size 16 by then, thats my motivation (that and my spreadsheet that is going to keep me on the straight and narrow!)

It varies...
I'm 5' 9". At one time hit 15 stone size 18. Started wearing size 16 at about 14 stone. Now I'm 12 stone and size 14 though occasionally have to buy a 12 in trousers

I reckon about a stone but obviously depends on your shape and which shop.

For example - am always a size smaller in next/m&s as they size big.

CarGirl · 24/04/2010 14:39

Depends on your height mainly!

I'm 5' and 5lbs make a huge difference in my clothes fitting (or not)

Ok, Thank you

about a stone I reckon and I'm 5'4

GypsyMoth · 26/04/2010 13:53

more than a stone for me at 5ft 11

Ivykaty44 · 26/04/2010 15:37

further down the page it gives 6-8 ILB will alter a dress size it also gives the waist measurments for each waist size

Also it gives waist to height measurment for health not just BMI

AvadaKedavra · 26/04/2010 15:38

I am 5ft 7 and it's more than a stone. I dropped 3 stone and only one dress size at one time 18 to 16. It was very demotivating.

AvadaKedavra · 26/04/2010 15:39

And totally not helped by the fact that a 16 is different in each store you go to, making the whole thing far harder than it should be!

MrsBrendanCole · 27/04/2010 09:50

wow AvadaKedavra, that must have been hard work

im about 5'6 i think so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the link Ivykaty44, very helpful.

Thanks everyone

I would also say about a stone per dress size on average.
Good luck with it.
