Which is right?

My electric weighing scales have me as one weight, my Wii has me as a stone heavier.

I moved my scales this morning and had lost 3lbs doing it.

The scales are 10.9 years old, is it time to get new ones and is the Wii likely to be right?

I think scales should weigh you the same which ever flooring they are on but I have heard from other people that they give different results depending on the flooring. How is that supposed to help you track your weight.

If the Wii is right I will cry.

Get new digital scales, place them on a level hard floor and i would expect Wii to still be wrong.

Why?

It is brand new!

Gossip is they have calabrated them to encourage usage.

MY scales are digital WW ones and they change. I am lighter by at least a pound on carpet than on a hard floor. Was very fed up when I realised. Now I tend to weigh myself on both the carpet then hard floor just to make sure. I think I am getting obsessed with weighing myself! Again!!!

It sounds as if you need new scales but I do think it makes a difference what floor you put them on. I think they need to be flat on hard floor because they don't weigh properly on carpet for some reason. I think it's something to do with the uneven surface so the scales not taking your weight properly so I think your correct weight is unfortunately the one on the hard flat surface.

I don't have a clue about the wii though. I would love one but unfortunately don't at the moment.

I always weigh heavier on my Wii too - but not by a stone lol!

I have been doing my body test at a different time a day so that is possibly why I am weighing 2-4lbs differently.

I have just had some granola and are going to do my training in a few minutes so will see what it says then.

I weigh myself on the bathroom floor which is like lino but will try in my bedroom which has floor boards. Also I will be looking at getting new scales so any recommendations would be appreciated please.

Throw them away, why do you need them? You can judge your weightloss by your clothes if you need to. The scales can be just as demoralising as they can motivating and fluctuate wildly for lots of reasons.

How did it go Fab?

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 16/04/2010 19:26

I did 30 minutes this morning and the wii thinks I have lost weight. I need to do the body test first thing I think. I had intended to do a proper work out this afternoon but I am knackered so will do more tomorrow.

the wii weighs me about 5lb heavier than my digital scales in general, they in turn weight me about 3 lb lighter than the old fashioned scales at the gym

so long as you only use one set of scales for official stats you can still track your loss, whether its wii or others
