I am just getting fatter and fatter so this morning I decided enough is enough and joined slimming world!

I have done various diets over the years, and my weight has yo yoed up and down!

Before DD2 (she is now nearly 2 and a half), I was my lightest for many years (11 and a half stone) after healthy eating/exercise/stress (nasty messy marriage breakup)!

But since then it has just gone up and I am my heaviest ever at 15st2 1/2 lbs this morning
I am only 5ft2in so this is pretty big and very unhealthy, my BMI is 39.1

I am so so aware of the health problems (I am a GP FFS), and very aware that my DD1 (nearly 9) is very aware that I am fat and unhealthy and my eating habits are crap!

So I need to do it now, I have scoffed the last 2 croissants in the house, will eat the curry already bought for tonight then that's it!!

Could do with some support/hints/advice/slimming world regulars please.........

I am too embaressed to go the gymn just yet, but have my trainers out for walking and have Wii fitness coach ready to go!!

First goal, 13st 9, 10% loss and back into my size 16's

I would be interested to know what you think about low carb aswell. My parents are Drs and have poo-pooed it, but they are old

Riven that is really interesting, and fantastic about the reflux - or rather the lack of it.

I did low carb once, DH and I did South Beach for a month before we got married and both lost over a stone. We had hideous headaches initially but they went about 4/5 days in IIRC and then we both felt much better and had tons of energy.

We got married and found out I was pregnant on honeymoon

I was on the 'Can't Even Look At Food Without Vomiting Diet' for about 4 months and lost another stone, and then I basically haven't stopped eating since.

Hello all
Riven, low carb for me medically is not a problem, and works very well for some! The issue is making sure you still get the fruit/veg that you need !

TBh I think anything that is maintainable for you individually is whats important, I have tried just about everything going

Am quite enjoying this new SW, once you get to grips with it, its very simple, basically, you can eats loads of good stuff, less of good but calorific stuff, and little crap stuff, so just commone sense but with it written down in a plan and a good kick up the arse

I made a lovely SW pork casserole last night, even my fussy children ate it, and I have just polished off the left overs for lunch a huge plate with a decent helping of new potatos, hopefully am nicely full will keep me off the biccies at work this afternoon!!

Good luck all

Riven, Im on day 4 of low carb diet, Im feeling much better today, kind of 'floaty.' Im not going to look at the scales until next tues, I darent!

macdoodle · 23/04/2010 13:38

Riven I suffer terribly with heartburn too Usually take 2 losec a day plus loads of rennies/gaviscon (not quite 40 though )

when I lose weight it does usually get better, this time eseentially I am low carbing as am eating very little bread, no cakes/biccies etc and wihing 1 day it had done totally!! I havent needed any meds at all, I suspect its the bread!!

macdoodle that casserole sounds delicious!

I am officially starting on Monday, but today I have not snacked at all. Muesli for breakfast and then we went out for lunch to celebrate DH getting home. I had a salad instead of a pizza and only ate half my pudding. That is so much better than recently I can't tell you.

macdoodle · 23/04/2010 18:08

Yey well done, once you start it gets easy, its the keeping it up that I find hard

Riven, SW have a newish plan called extra easy, kind of a mix between red and green days, so you can eat protein and carbs on the same day Am finding it ok, though struggling to stop snacking, think I will look like a fruit soon
