Too fast?

Hi, I am just wondering how I can slow my weight loss down?

I'm not on a diet as such, I've simply cut all added sugar from my diet, switched to sweetners and skimmed milk in my coffee and reduced my calories during the day so I don't have to cook separate meals for me and the family in the evening.

I'm not starving myself, I'm not even hungry, I'm eating properly just not to excess like I was before. Bear in mind I used to have at least ten cups of coffee per day with full fat milk and two sugars, full fat coke, slather mayo and butter on my sandwiches.... Numerous bags of crisps were my downfall too.

I've just switched to lower fat alternatives most of the time. I still even have one takeaway a week! I've cut out my crisps habit though.

Yet I'm losing 3.5 to 4lb per week, and have been for the past three weeks. Mum says I have to stop losing weight so fast and it's not healthy, but do I really need to pick up bad habits again so I don't lose as much?

By the way I'm pretty obese and have about six stone to lose, of which 12lb has gone so far....

i would speak to a doc maybe to make sure. But I started Slimming World (years ago) I was 14 stone 10 & 5 foot 4. I lost 7lbs in the first week, 4 in the next & 3 the week after that - so lost a stone in 3 weeks. Basically if you've got it to lose don't be too surprised if it comes off fairly quickly at first.

BTW - well done x

Well done on your weight loss so far!

I wouldn't worry about the amount you're losing at the moment as it'll slow down in a few weeks or so.

I lost five and a half stone in about nine months and found that it came off really quickly at first. I remember losing 7lbs the first week then about 5lbs the next but as I got closer to my goal it slowed to about 1lb a week.

If you really want to slow your weight loss down though then it doesn't mean going back to a diet of mayo and crisps. You could snack on fruit and yoghurts or low fat spreads on crackers (I found them a great crunchy substitute for crisps).

you are doing fantastically and it's a pity your mum said that

with 6 stone to lose, the first couple are going to come off quite quickly in my exp if you are happy with what you are eating and your are losing wieght but still have energy and arent hungry then what is the problem?

I would just stop telling your mum what you lose each week if I was you - you have months ahead of you when the weight loss will slow down - you may as well enjoy the big losses now while they last.
