Need to lose a stone by end of June - Weight Watchers meeting or online

Only managed to lose 5lb since January. I think I need some motivation and tracking of what I eat during the day. I'm a SAHM and I find it too tempting to eat my kids food and I'm not getting enough exercise. I have never been overweight in my life but cannot lose baby weight after no.2, dropped off with no.1. I have a big event at the beginning of July and need to lose a stone.

Meetings scare me but I'm not sure I will be motivated enough to do it online.

Any experiences or advice from a novice?

I've managed to lose half a stone since Xmas and the main thing it has been down to is exercies - I've got three of the Davina McColl DVDs and I try to do them 3 times a week - they only last half an hour and to be honest the more you do them the more you enjoy them.
It sounds very cliche but it is true that exercise really does make you feel better.
I've not been dieting but I have started to use smaller plates to try and cut down on my portions and to be honest once I started feeling good about exercising I found that I really didn't want to eat quite as much as I used to.
And I don't know what age your kids are but my 6 yr old likes to try and do the DVDs with me.

Go to the meetings, definately, if you even think that you won't be motivated enough to do it online.

I've been doing WW for 6 weeks now, and have lost 10.5 lbs. I missed last week's meeting and went way off track this week. Went for my weigh-in this morning and back to tracking points again properly again today. (I've done no excercise either!)

Don't be scared of the meetings, everyone is really supportive and in the same boat.

Meeting.

or should that be are really supportive? Neither sounds right...

WW online is a really good tool, it does take an extra bit of discipline to not cheat on yourself but the tracking features, recipes and weight tracker are all really good. There are also message boards for extra support. I've just started on this again (had DD five weeks ago and have a lot of lard to shift!), not organised enough at the minute to go to meetings so I tell DH what I've lost each week, I find it helps if I update someone on my progress, keeps me on track! Have lost 3lb in 3 weeks so starting to come off slowly, will be upping the exercise in the next couple of weeks so that should help.

Don't be afraid of going to meetings though, I used to help out at mine a few years back. Everyone is there for exactly the same reason and you can pick up loads of tips and motivation - some of the members at ours had lost 8 or 9 stone. Good luck with whatever you do!

Joined the online for the moment and seeing if it will work first, if not will add meetings. Only got given 18 points . Will have to do loads of exercise to up it - getting headaches and stomach pains on the first day. Arghhh.

I'm so shattered after looking after 1 and 3 year old each day and starving for dinner that I find it difficult to find a window to do any exercise.

Computer is accessible and on during the day so have found it easy to track points. Although decided the latte I made wasn't worth the points .

I need to find points for a mid afternoon snack I think, wtih lunch at 12.30 and dinner not til 7.30pm I found it hard to survive on an apple.

I aim for 4 breakfast, 4 for lunch and then a decentish supper, total yoghurt 0% fat and 3 passion fruit is 1 point and is very filling.

Am doing it online and have now managed to loose 5lbs in one week!!! You need to exercise that is the key... although we all hate it... it has to be done...

Less in, more out!!!

cranbury try mullerlight fat free yoghurts... the vanilla one is 0.5points and the banana and custard is 1 point.. I find they fill me up if I then have some fruit either after or before!! I am the same.. I also get tried.. how much water do you drink in a day??? I have 3 dcs, and I am at college also while my dh works away so I am pretty much on my own and I find exercise gives me energy for the rest of the day if I manage to do half hour in the morning before the kiddies go to bed! Just out of curiousity how come you have dinner so late??? Sorry for all the questions.. just wanna help!

Good luck girlies!!

Oh and kiwi is 0.5 and they are yummy put in the vanilla yoghurt!

cranbury · 11/04/2010 19:01

Dinner so late as I eat with DH after the kids go to bed 7.30/8pm. I tend to have a snack when the kids eat dinner 4.30/5pm way to early for me for my last meal!

Thanks for the tips will order some yoghurt.

Need to summon up the energy to exercise although I am so starving by 6pm I can't believe I can do it before dinner!
