I really want to get fit! I can't afford a gym membership and dont have any childcare either. So I am goning to start exercising at home, maybe a few dvd's some weights etc. Anyone want to join me and give each other some support?

I know I will find it hard as I get bored of things really quickly, so I may need the occasional kick up the arse!

Plus want more ideas of fun exercising I can do that wont break the bank, cant afford any specialist equipment.

Idealy I would like to lose half a stone and just to feel more toned, any takers?

Hi ladies.

Hope u all had a good weekend. I am still loving the biggest loser wii game, just trying to get into a routine of getting up early to fit it in. I much prefer to work out in the morning as it sets me up for the day, I am much more likely to stick to healthy eating.

I am trying to do at least 30 mins moderate exercise a day and then an extra 1-2 hours of more intense exercise a week. So I think I will alternate yoga and a wii fit workout daily and then twice a week do an aerobic work out dvd such as davina, well that's the plan anyway .

Keep up the good work ladies x

Managed to do my Davina Post Natal DVD today even though at one point both children were screaming at me! It was a bit dijointed cause I had to stop but I did it all.

Still waiting for my new Davina DVD and 30 Day Shred to arrive then I can get onto something a bit more challenging

OMG, my buttocks are killing me today . May have overdid it yesterday? Oh well I weighed myself and 1.5 pounds off since last week, so I can put up with a bit of buttock pain .

livvylouis which is your fav routine on biggest loser game?

catastrojb · 13/04/2010 11:14

Hi all - can I join you? I am trying to lose the last bit of post-baby muffin top (a bit late really...). Just bought the Wii Sports Active and am a few days in to the 30day challenge!

Those of you with young children, how do you manage to exercise at home with them too? Dd (1yo) likes to try to "help" so I can only do it when DH takes her for stories or a walk. I'm trying to see if there are any alternatives other than sticking her in the high-chair for half an hour! (BTW she sleeps in the sling on my back so that's not an option).

and livvylouis - I feel your pain! SportsActive does like its lunges...

livvylouis · 13/04/2010 13:19

Joby my fave routine is the core one, but yes catastrojb think it is all the lunges, owch!

I try to get up a little earlier in the morning, before my 2 get up or in the evening when they are in bed, if I have the energy!

Joby1970 · 13/04/2010 13:31

I like the core one too - the cardio one's a bit knackering lol

LostGirl · 13/04/2010 13:40

Very of everyone with a wii fit, it looks far more fun than doing a dvd. Have been away for a week and am now trying to get back into the routine, someone kick me please! Congratulats to everyone who is trying to lose weight and has lost.

GoldenSnitch · 13/04/2010 14:33

I had read that the Wii routines didn't do anything weight loss wise. Is that rubbish cause it'll give me more ammo next time I'm trying to talk DH into getting one

Joby1970 · 13/04/2010 15:46

I think the wii works - deff if you're not that into exercise normally - I think it gets you going to move on to other things.

GoldenSnitch · 13/04/2010 15:53

Yesterday I did a workout DVD, today I've done a DVD, taken the children out for a walk and got myself all puffed out doing the hills and will go for a run later...

Do you think it's worth me getting one?

I'm already doing stuff, I just need more things to do to try and keep it different and interesting

catastrojb · 13/04/2010 17:20

GoldenSnith - I think that is true of things like the Wii Fit, if you are generally pretty fit (it's fun, and I got a little hot and panty on some of the exercises, but it is more useful for things like balance and social). However, I just got the Sports Active and I will say that it really is a great workout - I am averaging over 100 calories per 25 min session - which is mostly toning too. Would be loads more for a full on cardio session! I am quite an active and (used to be) sporty person and I find myself worked out by it, if you put the effort in.

Ooops, bit waffly, but I hope you get what I mean! Definitely worth the money! I get bored with regular exercise (with the best will in the world, I will never be a hard-core or even soft-core runner!) but this has kept me very entertained so far. And I had dd in her high-chair when I did it today; judging from the constant giggling, it kept her entertained too! (Didn't do much for my self-esteem though )

livvylouis · 14/04/2010 17:06

lol @ casta.
I think the wii is worth it, I get a bit bored doing the same dvd all the time and running it great when the weather is ok, but their is no way u can get me out running when it's wet and windy.
I think u have to put the effort in when using the wii tho, well it's working for me anyhow .

Will have another go at talking DH into getting one then

GoldenSnitch · 19/04/2010 10:45

LostGirl · 19/04/2010 13:21

GoldenSnitch that's great.
I went for a run for the first time in a year over the weekend and felt great. Can hardly move now though

livvylouis · 19/04/2010 14:16

Thats great news GoldenSnitch! Not weighed myself today, but last time I checked was down a pound, so yay! Not been vey good this weekend tho, still damn easter eggs about the house! Gonna do my workout tonight as was in 2 much of a rush getting dd back to school thismorning.

livvylouis · 20/04/2010 14:40

LostGirl · 20/04/2010 14:42

I'm feeling good at the moment, now that my legs have recovered from running. Have just started a new stage of workout programme and has helped to keep my motivation up by learning the new exercises.

LostGirl · 20/04/2010 14:43

There's no sun where I am today

GoldenSnitch · 20/04/2010 15:56

Managed day 3 of the shred. Going to have to miss running today as DH is going out to see Reef so he can't be home with the kids.

Maybe I'll try doing another video later instead...
