The Wake & Shake really worked

love a bit of Ronan in the morning. Yay. Mood hugely improved.

Another aid to dieting has arrived overnight - a really sore throat actually prevents eating, so we're all set for the next few days. Yay. Not.

MrsJuan - welcome. Of course you can join. We hear you are vay kind. .

dinkystinky · 24/03/2010 09:23

Morning all - no Su am not a namechanger, have been dinkystinky from the beginning with the odd seasonal variation...

Wake and shake is a revelation

Geordieminx - I just chuck some onions, butternut squash, chilli powder, red peppers and cumin powder in a pan and boil in stock cubes and blitz - add extra chillies for extra kick (and to dissuade from eating too much due to the pain factor) if you want - and is pretty freeish.

LetThemEatCake · 24/03/2010 09:23

re: the anorexic overtones of this thread title - have to admit that that is why I, with my admittedly borderline-inappropriate attitude to weight/gain/loss - thought I had found a home here

I do think it is a good title, though. And TRUE. Oh so true.

I've got a good one for you that I read the other day-
"In order to change your BUTT, you have to change your BUTS"

nice, snappy, easy to remember Good luck all.

HumphreyCobbler · 24/03/2010 09:23

Morning.

BO - stay with it, all that water goes like magic afterwards and you feel really thin again.

No points soup
tin tomatoes
onion
courgettes
carrots
celery
stock

boil till the tomato sweetens

any veg apart from potatoes and sweetcorn are no points, is that right?

mrsjuan · 24/03/2010 09:24

Ah ha - my reputations precedes me.

I may be kind but I am also a greedy pig and need to stop eating everything cake.

HumphreyCobbler · 24/03/2010 09:26

I have always used the title of this thread in conversation.
Had NO IDEA it was an anorexic thing.

shortandsweet2 · 24/03/2010 09:37

Morning all, can I join. I have started the curves diet and have lost 3.5lb since Monday - Woohoo I am off my platue

MamaGoblin · 24/03/2010 09:44

I hadn't heard the slogan until the Kate Moss thing, and was v about her using it. And if there's room for some heresy here, I don't entirely agree with it anyway - certain items (butter tablet, home-made ice cream, perfect French patisserie, etc) have made me swoon with happiness and with the clear knowledge that it's going straight to my hips.

But I like this thread title cos I think people are a bit too right-on about stuff like this sometimes. And if anorexics stole it from WW originally, then we are just reclaiming it for genuine porkers!

I had a bit of a carbtastic breakfast - hot cross bun with Bertoli. Bracing myself for the sugar dip in an hour. But it was reduced-fat bun - 3.5 points incl the spread. So nyear.

BariatricObama · 24/03/2010 09:56

thanks for the pep talk lg&t & humph just went for first run since flu. had to make myself take it easy so feel loads better.

MmeLindt · 24/03/2010 10:06

Ok, have been lurking for a couple of days and this morning I tried on my cropped trousers to find that only the ones that were reeeeallly baggy last year fit. The ones that I wore in the garden cause they were really comfy.

I am in need of some serious arse kicking, and this seems to be the place to get it.

Are there rules or do we just witter on about ourselves?

dinkystinky · 24/03/2010 10:08

But the key question MamaGoblin is did you wake and shake before that hot cross bun??

Well done BariatricObama for going for your run - am still trying to gear myself up to go for a run...2 weeks and counting now...

Themasterandmargaritas · 24/03/2010 10:17

Jeeez wake and shake was so early this morning.

Losers are doing so amazingly well. It must be all the shouting.

AF arrived this morning and I'm delighted to report not a single morsel of choc passed my lips in the 48hrs before. That is SOME FEAT. It so would have made me happy.

But I haven't been quite so pyscho as normal, could that be due to Make Me Happy Portions and sunflower seed snacking? Or some mega high dose of middle age vitamins power pills?

Last night I was a friends and had prawn stir fry thingy with rice and asperges, then mixed berries with a tiny bit of yoghurt. Where do we stand on rice?

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 24/03/2010 10:28

Morning all - thanks for the feedback on the Fever dresses. Will be pressie for sister for birthday from my Dad. Bless him, when I said that she would like clothes as a present he said "hasn't she got enough of those already?".

Have waken and shaken and been flagellated by Jillian Michaels ("when it hurts is when it counts the most"). Yog and fruit for breakfast, smoked salmon for lunch and grilled fish for tea.

BO - stick with it - I lost 5lbs and then put it all back on with water retention. I cried (loudly) - just keep going. (waves pom poms enthusiastically)

Rules? Mmm Not really just a sort of common thread.

  1. Everyone is trying different things - but you need to stick to your plan.
  1. No excuses, no sympathy.
  1. If you don't you get your arse royally kicked by Sue. Unless your transgression is funny.
  1. Some people are weighing in and some aren't.
  1. Got to wake to shake every morning.

What have I missed?

Cyb - you have posted that Hush dress - very nice but we didn't get to the bottom of the shoes choice. What's your colouring BTW? Loving the sound of navy nails. Tried on some British Racing Green and it was really nice.

BariatricObama · 24/03/2010 10:29

welcome mmelindt!

dinky just go for a run, what is stopping you? you just to do that first run to realise you can do it.

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 24/03/2010 10:30

Master - for me basmati or brown are OK because they're low GI - as long as you don't trough loads. Well done on the choc!

mrsjuan · 24/03/2010 10:31

stupid question:

How do we wake to shake? Is it just generalised shaking or is there a routine? Is that why you've got pom poms?

BariatricObama · 24/03/2010 10:31

god porridge if i put all my weight back on with water retention i be seriously pissed off

fishie · 24/03/2010 10:33

no rules mml just wittering. well done on run bo. i went last night too and didn't have to stop once, so hopefully fitness will return soon.

have made wholemeal bread, two small slices with spam and tomatoes coming up for lunch.

HumphreyCobbler · 24/03/2010 10:42

the water retention will go afterwards

keep the faith

imagine yourself at your ideal weight

dinkystinky · 24/03/2010 10:46

BO - I absolutely hate running with a passion...so have to force myself out to run. I know I can do it but really dont enjoy it - do enjoy bodycombat, circuits, pilates and boxing classes which I try to do every week but running, my nemisis, seems to be the key to shifting the weight...

BariatricObama · 24/03/2010 10:47

yes humph i am floating flaoting towards my ideal self

Themasterandmargaritas · 24/03/2010 10:47

Great running everyone Dinky each time you do it it gets easier and easier, I promise.

Thanks porridge, I've never seen brown rice here but we have basmati apleeennnnttttyyy.

It's each to their own Mme, I'm not weighing in, in fear of being beaten and being considered anorexic I'm just here for the wake and shake

But I'd like to stop snacking and eating crap.

BariatricObama · 24/03/2010 10:49

dinky, i started pretending to enjoy it and now quite do. i love pilates too but too broke atm to do classes

HumphreyCobbler · 24/03/2010 10:55

My breasts are too huge for running.

Bounce bounce bounce.

I would put people off their dinner.

Am still breastfeeding, surely that burns off a few calories?

YoginiBikini · 24/03/2010 10:59

Hello again. Welcome everyone new. Porridge's list covers it I think.

Rice I think is great. I'm not forbidding anything apart from junk. Wholesome food will fill you up and stop grazing. Chocolate and odd glass of wine not good but tiny amount may keep you human!

Does it make me happy? Sure if it's only a tiny bit and I can cut back on my intake elsewhere

That ok Su?

Oh and I'm half a pound under a big number on the scales

Still impressed with all the running
