Anyone else struggle to fit exercise DVDs in with demands of work/family life?

I swear I am not making excuses not to exericse...by the time I've got in from work, done the dinner, cleared up and done the bedtime routine, I've nothing left to offer....no point asking DH to cook as he can't even boil an egg!

Should I be waking up before DS in the morning and getting the DVD done before the day has started?!!

In theory yes, I know if I don't squeeze mine in first thing then by the time the kids are in bed there is not a chance in hell I am going to bother. However, if your ds gets up incredibly early then it might not be a realistic option. What dvd's do you use? You can buy some really short but effective exercise routines, davina's thirty minute ones work, Jillian Michael's 30 day shred is just over 20 minutes and WORKS, and tae bo will also kick your butt into shape and most of there dvd's have both a 30 minute and an hour workout on them. I find because they're shorter it's slightly easier to find the time and I'm able to motivate myself more to do it because it's not going to take too long. Good luck in finding the time, definitely easier said than done.

Ahh I'm sensing from the Tai Bo mention that you could be a fan of Billy Blanks? I have his DVDs and I really do love his work outs but I am vv tempted at the 30 day shred one as it is only 20mins...I read the reviews on it and they have been great, but one person did say that you could end up bulking up with the 30 day shred rather - what do you think?

My DS is up quite early...have got a gro clock to try and sort that but he just lies there giving a narration of what the moon and the stars are doing

I didn't have time to do the DVD this morning and so though ok, I'll do it after my dinner has digested....yeah right...am already in PJs and totally wiped out!

You sound just like me, once the kids are in bed and there is finally some peace and quiet the last thing I feel like doing is prancing about in the living room, even Billy Blanks isn't that motivating!

Unless you are in a very small minority of women and have quite a high level of testosterone in your body then the thirty day shred is not going to make you bulk up, but it will make you stronger and give you more muscle definition as it will burn fat at the same time as building muscle. I've really noticed a difference in my upper back and shoulders which look much more defined, and as a result it makes my waist look smaller .

I too have an early riser, generally up at 4.30 so she now snuggles on the sofa and has some milk while I do the 20 minute shred. I never want to do tae bo when the kids are around as I always fear they will walk into one of my flailing limbs!

I am wincing at 4.30am! How old is she?

I'm an hour glass shape and have got 2.5st to lose to get back to pre preg weight. I would like to lose inches of my thighs, hips and bum and get more toned arms - I hate my bingo wings ....am hoping for good things with this DVD...I really am most unhappy with the way I look now and can't believe that DS is 4 soon and I'm still a chubber!

She is 2, has been up around this time since she was a couple of weeks old. I thought it would be the passing phase of a newborn, unfortunately not, she just does not need much sleep.

Is definitely a good dvd for upper body, arms and core, have noticed a real difference in these areas. Not so much the hips and thighs unfortunately, though must admit that on level 3 I take the easy option on the leg exercises.

Riven I expect that keeps you very fit. I walk a lot, but nearly enough to counteract my chocolate addiction, and have a strange phobia of getting on a bike

I so understand where you are coming from. I know I need to do some exercise and I would like to but just don't find the time and I really don't mean that to sound a silly excuse. I work for myself so my evenings are spent as a mix between chatting on here and trying to get some work done and like everyone else days are spent looking after the kids.
