I went with a friend we intially lost just over a stone each, and they we slowly put it all back on, and then some. We left in november last year as i couldn't afford it anymore, i won't be going back when i can afford it either.

I paid monthly and it was around 21.95 i think, more if you pay each week.

I go - have lost 4 and a half stone so far. Went with friend originally - she doesn't go any more. I've changed groups and made new friends - find this group very supportive and friendly.

Monthly pass is about £18 otherwise 5.50 a week. Pass does save a bit. there are some joining offers around at the moment.

I find it works for me but I do think the key is finding what works for you - might be weight watchers - and in all honesty i've tried them all! - but everyone is different!

good luck, whatever you decide

I went years ago with various friends and we all lost weight over time and for the most part managed to keep it off.

Most of us had the same attitude to it where we went initially, learnt the system and did it for a couple of months. After a while we'd lose interest and find that we weren't losing any more weight so stop going but try to maintain what we'd lost. When we were back in the mood, we'd start up again, either going to meetings or just doing the points system on our own.

Most of us took months or even years to lose the weight, not because we had tons to lose but because you lose it very slowly, maybe a couple of pounds a week if you are quite strict. Personally, I lost two stone over two years or so.

DH had a go last year using the website and lost a bit but still has a stone or so to go. He may start up again now we're in the new year but I'm not sure whether he's that keen as he finds it quite hard to stick to.

Works for me two, losing but very slowly which is fine as will hoepfully stay off, also fits in with feeding DH and DC's. You can go to your Dr's to gte a form as they can (or they do in our area) doa 3 month free trial.

Don't let the fact that it took me so long to lose a couple of stone put you off! My flatmate at the time, lost a lot more and a lot quicker so it is possible.

For me the first stone came off pretty easily, maybe in 6 months, and that was enough to make me feel good about my weight. The second stone was good to lose but not totally necessary so I didn't make a huge effort to be honest.

I liked weight watchers because it made me rethink what I ate and how much and I was still allowed to indulge my sweet tooth to a degree.

I'd say, give a go, maybe for a month or two, and see how you fare. Good luck!

leeanne1407 · 16/01/2010 17:03

yeah i think i might they have an offer on just now ur first weeks free so i might just do that and sign up for the 3 month plan and just take it from their im hoping the thought of having to get weighed in front of a stranger every week might make me stick to it as nothing else is working
going on holiday in june so would be great to even just lose a stone for then

I've found with WW there is no room for extra treats, they say you can, but you have to really point pinch here and there etc.

It obivously works, and it teaches you about choice and portion control.

Slimming World on the other hand - I lost 2 stone a couple of years ago.

You can eat as much as you want (honest), but obviously of the right foods. then there is room for chocolate (all be it a small bar) after.

You do have to attend meetings though to get passwords for online to obtain syn values of packaged goods.

If you like quantity and treats, then might be worth looking into?
