Anyone done Slimming World while pregnant?

I'm feeling so fat, about 2 stone overweight (I'm only 14 weeks pg so it's not the baby!) and had heard you can do Slimming World while you're pregnant.

Just wondered if anyone could tell me what the plan is and how you found it? Thanks.

I don't know if you can or not but I'd suggest going to a nutritionist and getting tailored eating advice from them. It would probably work out around the same cost? That way you'll know your eating the right foods for your baby and you'll be eating healthily which should ensure you don't put on any additional weight.

You may lose weight but given that you are supposed to put on weight for the baby you may find that you just don't gain any more.

Good luck.

That's a great idea, Turtlesmum - thank you. I have a friend who has recently qualified and I expect she'd be interested in drawing up a plan for me.

You've hit the nail on the head - I don't want to gain any more and be stuck with loads to shed post-partum.

Thank you

Sounds perfect!

As I'm currently struggling to drop the two stone I gained when pregnant next time round I think I'll take my own advice!

Hi....you can do SW when pg you just get more healthy A/B options. I dont know the full ins & outs but do know they are registered with the midwifery council (or something similar. Good Luck

You can completely do Slimming World when you are pregnant - I am 38 weeks PG and have been following it all the way through.

I was at my target weight when I fell pregnant and have gained just under 2 stone during this pregnancy which is less than my previous pregnancies. I am also much more confident about eating healthily once the baby is born and not gaining weight because I ate too much when breastfeeding.

SW have worked with the Royal College of Midwives and you have to get the consent of your midwife to go but it really is fantastic.

You get the support of the group to help you eat healthily and the aim is not to "lose" weight but to watch your weight and ensure an adequate weight gain and not an excess one.

You don't get any extra Healthy Extras as they are not needed - the plan is so normal that it is the only group you can be a member of when PG!

You can eat unlimited Fruit, veg, lean meat and poultry, pasta, rice and potatoes. You then have measured amounts of bread, cereal, milk and cheese and limited amounts of choc/gravy/mayo/high calorie stuff.

Give it a go - if you don't like it you've not really lost much as it only costs £9.95 to join and that gives you everything you need on your first week - then the group is £4.95 a week which is the price of 2 coffees!!

Meant to say infact - I transferred to a different hospital on Friday to their birthing centre to have my baby and was discussing eating with midwife and she said that she always recommends Slimming World to her pregnant ladies as it is so good during pregnancy!

She was very impressed with my weight gain and diet!

Hi - I have just joined mumsnet after searching for a slimming world when pregnant thread. I am 9 weeks pregnant but feel enormous - I know the SW rules but just feel so tired and sick that I am just giving in to all my sweet tooth cravings. I put on so much weight with my first pregnancy after being marooned on a sofa with severe spd for 5 months and am still about 2 stone overweight.
I am so happy to be pregnant again but terrified of having 3 or 4 stone to lose at the end of it.
