Have you only been dieting for 2 days?

misdee · 08/01/2010 12:01

go and weigh out a poundof something.

then say 'i've only lost 1lb'

1lb is good. its better that 1lb on.

i am average about a pound a week. but am on sw.

GypsyMoth · 08/01/2010 12:16

you wanted to lose ten pounds and gave up 2 days in after losing 1 pound only???

Furball · 08/01/2010 12:23

Hello, do you know me?
If you don't you should. I'm a pound of fat, and I'm the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.
Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me;
I'm Only One Pound, just a pound.
Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds or fifteen pounds, but never only one,
so I just stick around and happily keep you fat.
Then I add to myself ever so slyly so that you never seem to notice it, that is until I've grown to ten, twenty or even more pounds in weight.
Yes, it's fun being Only One Pound of fat, left to do as I please.
So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying "Oh, I only lost one pound."
( as if that were such a terrible thing!)
For you see, if you do this you'll encourage others to keep me around because they will think I'm not worth losing.
And I love being around you -
your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.
Happy Days!! After all, I'm Only One Pound of fat!!!

Furball your post has just made me put away the chocolate biscuit I'd snaffled for after lunch...

Ivykaty44 · 08/01/2010 13:12

Did you manage to put the 10 extra pounds on in two days? I suspect it took you far longer than that patients is a virute and lossing weight should be a slow process.

Change all your eating habits rather than diet, just eat sensibly.

Drinkerbell · 08/01/2010 14:09

Don't give up! I read somewhere that 80% of diets last less than a week!?

Have been carefully weighing food and counting points all week and have lost sod all. I know the disappointed feeling very well but I know if I give up now I'll just go bananas and eat the entire contents of the fridge so distracting myself by being on MN and drinking tea...

of course what I really want is an entire Waitrose Victoria Sponge.

For me personally and I suspect for a lot of other people, it is very difficult to diet unless you physically attend a slimming club for a weigh in every week. There is something about knowing that I will have to confront my weight watchers leader over the scales every Wednesday morning, which makes me focus my efforts and stick with it. Somehow being weighed formally by someone else some how makes weight loss etc more tangible and helps my motivation levels.

Are you attending a slimming club or DIY online?
