Maintaining

Not sure this was the right section but here goes.

I have reached my target at slimming world just before Christmas but I cannot seem to get my head around it.

I am watching all the diet adverts and reading the diet threads, it is as though the I still feel I need to diet. I was slimming for seven months so not an overly long time. I have now reached a size 12 but only just forced myself to realise this as I was wearing all my 14/16 clothes and wonderng why they were dropping off me.

As anyone else had these issues. I feel I still need to be "dieting". Any words of advice or a good slap would do.

What are you eating then? When you say you feel like you should be dieting, this is due to the habit change - after 21 times/day/etc you have changed a habit.

I am not offay with slimming world - is it three sensible meals, like ww?

I have a collegue who did ww and lost 3 stone, she has just continued to count points only 4 more than when she was dieting to just maintane her weight -two years on she has stayed the same - as ww is your eating habits/food intake for life

Oh

forgot to say - well done for reaching your goal

You've done amazingly so well done.

I think I know how you feel- i have lost a lot of weight in the last year and I almost seem to deny myself the last bit. Sad I know but for me, reaching size 12 (currently a 14) is such a big achievement that it takes a lot of getting used to. I can't quite understand it- it's a size that i never really have been for much of my life so part of me keeps it out of reach.

Anyway- you may be a bit like me- do you feel you don't deserve to look nice in smaller clothes? Does some part of you feel worried you'll put it back on? I find it hard to get my head round being a smaller size. perhaps dieting and slimming has taken up a lot of your time so actually not doing it anymore is a bit like losing a hobby and you need something else to occupy your time.

hope this makes sense- maybe i'm the one who needs the slap!
good luck

Thank you for your replies. Ivykaty I am still going to carry out going to SW so I dont put my weight back on.

Whatreally. That makes sense. I have put a lot of effort into losing that weight maybe it is like losing a hobby also I also agree about the small size thing. I pick up size 12s and don't believe they will fit me and then astounded when they do.

I probably just have to get into the mind set of maintaining and watching what I eat but no obsessing.

I think it's a case of accepting yourself as a new size. I do worry what i will do if i finally conquer eating sensibly and stay at a normal steady weight. It has occupied me since adolescence- probably longer. You've given me a lot to ponder too.

Really hope it all works out for you. Maybe we could take up stamp collecting?!

Well done mygood sound slike you've done really well.

I am in similar position as was dieting for about 7 months and reached my target at the start of December. I lost a couple more pounds partly as I knew I would put some on over xmas eating/drinking what I wanted (I did, 3 pounds!) but also because it was quite difficult to get out of the habit of dieting. I am still in that mindset but figure this is a good thing. Was not eating massively less anyway as was exercising and losing weight slowly so think what I need to eat to maintain is not too far off what I was having on the diet, just a bit more relaxed and with more treats. Well, that's the theory.

I think if it makes you feel better keep doing SW and just up your calorie intake a bit until you get used to your new size.

Well done!
