I'm thinking about doing yoga I have never done it before.

I'm not sure what Bikram yoga is but it fits into my schedule and is near home.

Any advice appreciated

Oooo, it is something I VERY much miss from the US. I practiced it for 8 years and there is only Ashtanga here.

It is 26 postures (Hatha) done in a room heated to about 107 degree and 100% humidity. Each class is 1.5 hours long.

I was very fit when I started practicing, and it was a challenging workout. But it's for everyone. You can stop whenever you feel tired, but they do ask that you remain in the studio for the duration of the class if at all possible.

Each pose is held twice, once for one minute and then again immediately after for half a minute.

It is the BEST workout I've ever done in my entire life, and I've been an athlete all my life. I was a late walker, so my dad encouraged sport early to help my balance and coordination.

The first time I did it, I felt like absolute jelly! But totally elated and detoxified.

Give it a try! You won't be sorry. I'm jealous!

A friend of mine did this to strengthen back and lose weight and while she found the class hard, she felt so energised!
Are you going to a class in London? I think there is a website: www.bikramyoga.com.

It is a godsend for the joints, chickpea. I have had many knee surgeries, and Bikram yoga gave me back my strength and flexibility. It is brilliant for the back and posture.
