No Snacking

I'm thinking of doing The No S Diet, which is basically about just eating three meals a day during the week, no snacks, sweets or seconds, and then eating what you like at the weekend.

I'm no sure how I'll cope without snacks though as I think I need to eat regularly.

If you follow this way of eating, what are your eating times?

Because there will be a big gap for me between lunch at around 1pm and then dinner which I eat around 8:30pm. Even eating at 6pm would mean a 6 hour gap. And as I intend to start going to the gym in the evenings, I wouldn't get back to eat until 9pm anyway. I could eat before, but then I'd be eating very early with the children, around 5:30pm, leaving DH to eat on his own later. And then after the gym I'd probably be hungry again.

Or am I just overthinking?!

I'll join you- I want to lose 2lbs a week for the next 3 weeks.
I have become a snacker and although not really overweight I cannot get into my trousers - 2 new pairs unworn.

I eat at 7.30am- 7.45, then 1pm then 7.3opm- it's the aftenoons that kill me.

Thinking too much!! the more thinking I do the less action I take. Back to your question..I did no snacking a while back and exercised every other evening and lost 1 stone in 6 weeks...2 1/2 stone in total. I did eat when I was hungry in between, snacking on fruit and veg, cereal and toast...but not on a daily basis only when blood sugar plummeted....oh and I had a great big dirty bar of chocolate every Sunday after lunch. I regliously ate at 8.30am, 1pm, and 5pm and had hot chocolate in evening (highlights) HOWEVER 2 children later and 3 stone gained I intend to do the same again..might cut out the choc though as don't know when to stop at the mo . Not sure how my timings will work this time though with school runs and after school activities etc, so just intend to go with it and see if I fall into some kind of pattern. Let me know how you get on ...good luck..

I know it's a no snacking diet, but if you're eating late evening, could you not have an apple at 5ish, just to keep your bloody sugar up?

purplepeony · 31/12/2009 18:09

can you eat more at lunchtime? Or have a non-fattening snack at around 4pm?

I manage better if I have a bigger meal at lunchtime- but it doesn't really work family-wise as we eat together at around 7-8pm.

I am going to try to do that some days.

Well, I was thinking I may add a fourth meal - a small one - to my day at 4/5pmish. Which is against the rules of The No S Diet. But the afternoons kill me. Or I though I'd have my own rule and have snacks as long as they're fruit.

Maybe we should come up with our plan?

Bigger lunch- or low cal snack around 5pm?
List of acceptable snacks?

SpikySauce · 01/01/2010 17:32

I think small mini-meal around 4:30pm may be the way to go for me.

I'm also going to allow myself fruit as a snack.

And drink more water.
