Here we are, thanks Cyteen for the excellent title although it's slightly false advertising on my part

rofl, contain yourself woman, you're a respectable married mother of two

save that behaviour for the meet up not whilst one's husband is in John Lewis lol

cyteen · 06/02/2010 19:14

Well girls, there's no denying it: I'm lardy. My clothes are too tight and look shit, my arms are wobbly, my belly is a disaster. I have lost almost all willpower to make myself go out running, am too skint to restart at bikram which I am totally gutted about, and generally need to buck my shit up before I turn into my stepmother [shudder]. Having an unhappy moment, excuse me while I wallow before coming up with a plan.

TwilightSurfer · 07/02/2010 02:57

I like Sazzles statement, "this is NOT meant to be punishment. A little of what you fancy will do you good." Very well said dear lady!!

I found out something this week that proves a point made ages and ages ago. One that I'm sure has been discussed in this forum when exercise is added to your regime. I have gained weight but my pants no longer fit me. I have to continuously pull up my trousers because my waist has decreased in size. I still don't have a butt or boobs so I can't say that's the reason for the weight increase. The only possible plausible reason is that I've CREATED MUSCLE MASS. True 100% REAL muscle!! WOW!!!!

The Moral: The scale does NOT distinguish between good and bad. So don't be discouraged if that number doesn't go down every time you step on it. Your body could just be converting bad mass to good mass.

Other tools might be useful to help you SEE the changes happening. A tape measure is excellent. Upper Leg, Upper Arm, Boobs, Real Waist, & Hips are the FIVE Zones I would target. Check with you local gym (or even your health care provider) to see if they offer a Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. It's not perfect but very easy to administer. It determines your body fat percentage. It's excellent if you get it done at the start of a program that way when you plateau, your weight seems unchanged or begins to go back up, you can have it done again. Comparing body fat percentages might prove you done a better job than you realize.

I owe so much to my exercise of choice for helping REDEFINE my body...PILATES IS AWESOME. I started last September and average 10 hours a month. I do NOTHING ELSE...besides eat and sleep. It's a wonder program!! WOOT! WOOT!

TwilightSurfer · 07/02/2010 03:06

Cyteen with the world at our fingertips and on our cabled tv's "skint" is no longer a problem.

Here's a youtube link to a stateside pilates studio mat class. You may notice there's other 10 minute pieces offered by this same studio. All can be done alone and at home.

I searched for some Bikram Yoga classes and found loads of them too. FOR FREE!!!

TwilightSurfer · 07/02/2010 03:20

VG about your pilates class and feeling as if you hadn't done anything... YES the intro classes are created to give you a feeling for the exercises involved and to help you learning cueing of the exercises. The fact that you feel it more after the class on the 5th is perfect and you're feeling it in exactly the right places. As you get more involved you learn to slow down and be attentive to the movements. MOVE WITH PURPOSE might be something you hear often in class. It helps to use imagery to focus on the exact muscle you "want" to be utilizing. You will find over a short time you gain an amazing strength. Now let's see your 100!

TwilightSurfer · 07/02/2010 03:22

Dizzy sounds like we accomplished the same using C25K. I am so stuck at W1D1! It has been suggested to me to read BORN TO RUN. I went to the bookstore to buy it on Tuesday but got sidetracked. Oh Well!

hotterpotter · 07/02/2010 20:22

Seems like two good weekends in a row was too much to expect in the hotter house went mental yesterday, but I am blaming it on having my period leading to MAJOR carb cravings

Only naughty thing today was a Mr Whippy ice cream but this was accompanied by a big healthy walk in the outdoors and much adrenaline driving (and getting a bit lost) through Leeds and on the M1

Off to have a bath and try and find my legs under their winter blanket that might lose me an ounce or two on the scales though

hp I deforested this morning, man that was scary.

cyteen · 07/02/2010 21:07

Sazz I think I'm going to try and rent some exercise DVDs from the local library. Am also trying to reduce spending alongside face-stuffing, plus borrowing might keep the exercise experience fresh for me cos I can change them once I get bored. I do love running, it's just getting out the door...dark/cold/wet is very unmotivating, not that that's really an excuse.

good grief I'd better be at least 3 stone lighter after the night I had, didn't know what to point at the toilet - not pleasant at all. Serves me right as I went mad yesterday too I stepped on the scales and aat once point I was 5lbs down, next time I was 3lbs down and then this morning two pounds so hopefully they've stayed off - there has to be a silver lining somewhere

today has been a bit of a mix as I had to have lucozade to survive but I only had homemade soup for tea and a sandwich for lunch - I couldn't cope with anything else

will do better tomorrow

Sazz sorry to hear you're sore - gentle hugs all round

hots hope the ounces fall off

TS I've only managed to do day 2 week 1 so far due to time constraints and tomorrow I'm going to the gym after work and when I get back DH will be away - same on Tues so no idea when I'll get the next day done - I have a feeling I'll be stuck on week one for a while

Cyteen - I've discovered a yogalates video in the playroom - maybe worth checking your collection if your house is as much of a tip as mine

I've started reasonably well with three bites of cream cheese bagel for breakfast (had to throw the rest away, it was rank!) followed by grapefruit. Think I will start my stretching routine again, that I used to do when DS was tiny - now he weighs 2st my joints are more in need of flex than ever.

luckoftheirish · 08/02/2010 13:26

dizzy you poor thing that sounds horrible, it's such a humiliating kind of illness, isn't it? Hope your system sorts itself out, I suppose water water water is all you can do really, and sleep it out, where dc and work permit . All the best to you.

LOL at hypothetical cheese .

Am on Day 11 of my weirdo diet and feeling rather low in energy... am still ok with nuts and cheese but fed up with eggs and meat.
