Lacking motivation to lose weight? I was, until...

...today, when DH showed me some surreptitious photos he took of me with his new phone. Slumped on the sofa, belly hanging, yawning for extra triple double chin action.

Oh god. I've been looking for that extra kick to start my new regime before Christmas and I think this was it. I may ask him to take some more in my most unflattering guises.

I told him to delete them immediately at first. And then I had a rethink: he has now emailed them to me so I can Face The Music.

A good thing, I hope? [aaargh]

If you are motivated and really want to go for it, then I am sure you will succeed. Sometimes we need to see ourselves as others see us?
I was rather "rounded" until I got a big shock - it was at work, and I saw a woman approaching the office that I had spoken to at length the previous day and having no wish to see her again, I hid behind a filing cabinet. At the counter, she said she wanted to speak to the woman from yesterday, whose name she had forgotten (me). The person on Reception asked her to describe the woman. "Short and fat" OMG - so accurate . I promptly lost a load of weight, and when the same woman came in 6 months later, she didn't recognise me

This sounds familiar. I forget how awful I look until I see a photo of myself. I don't even seem to realise it looking in the mirror, just from photo's.

I have been doing Go Lower now for over two months though and am really starting to feel a bit better now as I've lost over 2 stone.

I agree, there is no wake up call like an unflattering picture! Or little children...my 3 year old niece visited us and patted my tummy 'Do you have another Bethany (mydaughter) in there?'
Something I did which worked was cut out pictures from magazines of my favourite celebrities that have the figure I want! Jennifer Aniston, Rachel McAdams etc, and I stuck them all into a little book along with pictures of myself before I put on my baby weight. Then I flicked through it before my meals and it stopped me from eating fatty things...I did this just less than 7 weeks ago and I've lost the best part of a stone. It works!

Oh yes, I too had my wake up call this week. Having spoken to my nan who I have not seen in person for over a year she commented on the photos my sister sent her of her wedding "yes they were lovely photos but tell me, when are you going to lose some weight, your DS is well over 1 now??" Eek! I got the Wii Fit out that night!
