But thats a good thing - that person is you. you are the pretty person in the photo. Can you use this as an incentive? turn it into a positive and use it to help you to get back to that person?

KnickKnackLovesLateLateToyShow · 29/11/2009 10:47

You could stick it up in the kitchen as an incentive to get back in shape?
I know some people put up a "fat pic" on the fridge door as a deterrent, but I think the old skinny picture is a much better incentive.

Disenchanted3 · 29/11/2009 10:49

No point till after crimbo really,

but I do look so bloody different, i have a chin! just the one! lol and cheekbones!

can you be envious of your former self?!

badietbuddy · 29/11/2009 10:54

Agree skinny pictures are a better incentive. I've lost 2 stone in just under 2 months and am finally back to my pre pregnancy weight. Why not get started? That way you won't be as self conscious of people take your pic at Christmas, and potentially you still have time to lose a fair bit before then

KnickKnackLovesLateLateToyShow · 29/11/2009 10:58

I have a friend who is using the new Kate Moss mantra:

"does that taste better than skinny feels "

every time she looks at a choc bar/pastry/etc she thinks this, remembers back to what it felt like to be skinny, remembers what it felt like to try on clothes and look good in almost anything...and that provides enough willpower to ignore the junk food.

I going to start using it on Monday

BarbieLovesKen · 29/11/2009 11:06

I really think you should use that pic as an incentive - and its lovely that you are envious of yourself - its so achieveable.

I know what its like, as someone who lost 7 stone in 2007/2008 (it took 10 months btw), I know what its like to battle with weight - I went from a size 20 to a size 10.

Am now 32 weeks pregnant and have gained ridiculous amount of weight - so much that I dont want to mention it on here. Am so sad now when I look at photos from last year, or at clothes I did fit in to. I didnt realise it at the time, but I did look good and wish I had appreciated that at the time. I held up a little pair of shorts that I wore in August last year and laughed like mad - I used to moan I was fat!!! told dh if I ever get into those shorts again I will never complain.

Am rambling on and on now -sorry! - what am trying to say is I understand and will be getting back to that person once I have this baby at the end of January - if you want to join me at all, Ill be round - have promised myself Ill do it again, so can you. Think you should not look at that photo with envy but with excitment that your going to look exactly like that again next year x

Disenchanted3 · 29/11/2009 11:11

Wow how did you loose so much weight in just 10 months?

i need to loose about 2 and a half stone, my doctor said it will take about a year to 2 years

Ive had 3 babies in 5 years so it is baby weight for me too.

Wow barbielovesken, what an excellent weight loss! Disenchanted, it will not take that long. It's perfectly doable in less than 6 months, you just have to be dedicated to doing it. My ds is 18 months now and it's only in the last 2 months that somehting clicked and I realised I had to sort it out. I always did want to lose a bit more, so I'm takign anything I lose now as a bonus. One thing I've found that has helped is getting a big 3 wheel buggy and just walking with it- I'm lucky that I live in a place where there are lots of interestign places to walk, but I've been out in all weather, for at least a couple of hours every day once we have dropped dd at school. I realsied I caught the bus far more than was really necessary so have started to walk everywhere.
What kind of a diet are you plannign to go on? I can really recommend Neris and India's Idiot Proof Diet. I've never gone hungry, the food is yum, and the rest of the family can eat it all too. If you order it today it could be with you on Tuesday and you could get started

BarbieLovesKen · 29/11/2009 11:24

Thanks a million!

Disenchanted - I lost it all on weight watchers, on average loosing 2lbs per week (although the first week, you tend to loose alot more - think I could have lost 6 or something) but some weeks 3 or sometimes 1.

I suppose it was very quick, when I think of it now, although didnt feel like it at the time. I was completely dedicated though - I mean, I didnt cheat once in that 10 months so think that could have been it - was very focused at the time as was getting married and had wedding day as an incentive.

2 and a half stone will definately not take that long!! how are you planning to loose it?

mummymels · 02/12/2009 21:05

I agree with everyone else, use the skinny picture as incentive. In fact I think that is a great idea and I may see if I can find an old pic of myself to do the same thing although I think it will have to go back many years to be that slim!

I am so with you on looking at pictures now. Seeing pictures of me now really makes me realise how big I have got over the years and makes me disgusted with myself. I have a lot to lose but so far have lost 2 stone in 2 months so I am getting there but still not enough to look presentable.

Dorothyredboots · 04/12/2009 14:11

Disenchanted - Don't put it off till after Christmas. It's better to start and slip back as you will still have made progress overall, IYSWIM. You could loose almost half a stone between now & Christmas and you won't put all that back on with Christmas dinner!

CandyKane · 04/12/2009 14:30

Try and go for walks during the Christmas period if you can that will help if only to keep away from all the snacks and incidental grazing that goes on inbetween the enormous meals!

LilRedWG · 04/12/2009 14:34

I'll join you Dis - I look at my wedding pictures and feel yuck now. Trouble is I'm lazy and love food andwine too much. I think I'll stick a couple of pictures up - one on the cupboard door to remind me not to overload my plate and one on the cupboard door housing the wine glasses.

BTW - looking at your pic on your profile I think you look beautiful.

Curiousmama · 04/12/2009 14:38

That Kate Moss mantra was on Fat friends years ago.

Dis I'm trying to cut back too as am a 14 and want to be a 12. Not that there's anything wrong with being a 14 it's just I look better. Plus tummy's too fat.

I'm walking more with the dog instead of letting him run all the time. He's part whippet so you can imagine the exercise he needs?

I look at old pics of me when young skinny and glam but as much as they're an incentive I still know I'm attractive even though not my ideal weight.

Agree it's still you in those pics, just different now.

mummymels · 07/12/2009 21:30

I have taken the advice you have all given Disenchanted. At the weekend I found a picture of when I was slim and have stuck it on the fridge and the inside of our snacks cupboard. I am finding my diet good at the moment but just in case I get a weak moment it is there and it will also give me incentive to stick to this diet.

duckyfuzz · 07/12/2009 21:35

disenchanted I have lost nearly 2st since June, it is possible and easy to get the first half a stone off in the next couple of weeks if you put your mind to it. I have done similar to Neris/India/various other low carb diets but of my own invention, it has worked for me, and I didn't even have a skinny pic to help, I've never been this slim in recent memory

mummymels · 08/12/2009 20:51

That's brilliant duckyfuzz.

I am doing Go Lower and you lose about a stone a month so still time to lose half a stone or so before Christmas too. So far I have lost 33 lbs in 9 weeks and I feel so much better in myself for it.

ChrisMissWooWoo · 09/12/2009 09:22

what is Go Lower Mummymels??!!

mummymels · 09/12/2009 15:04

Go Lower is a diet where they deliver the food to your house, which I love as I don't have to worry about what food to cook etc. and you can have treats (even chocolate!). It's a low carb diet.

mummymels · 11/12/2009 13:45

I should have said that also as time goes on there are recipes you can use to make your own food too. You go into ketosis.

HinnyPet · 11/12/2009 13:51

Hi,

Roughly how much does this cost you a month mummymels? Duckyfuzz what's your diet?

HinnyPet · 12/12/2009 20:43

and I killed the thread again

mummymels · 14/12/2009 22:42

Sorry HinnyPet, I had a bit of a busy weekend and didn't get a chance to get on here. I certainly wasn't ignoring you. It's just under £50 a week but bearing in mind that is practically all your food for the week I don't think it is too bad.

mummymels · 28/12/2009 23:48

Hi, how are everyone doing? HinnyPet, what did you decide?!
