cutting out the sugar!

I am a sugar addict and it's horrible. I can't open a packet of biscuits without scoffing the lot - same with chocolate, cake etc. I think I need to try and just cut it out of my diet altogether - as in biccys, sweets, desserts etc. and see if I can learn to live without it. Is this possible? Anyone tried it?

Yes it is possible. I have exactly the same problem and have very successfully dieted by doing this - cold turkey is the only way for me. Then I relapse and go into binge mode again . I reached a low point in the cycle two weeks ago and can honestly say that after the first few days of giving up sugar you don't crave it any more - I have been "clean" for two weeks now and have lost half a stone (with four more to go ).
The only problem is accepting that I really can't eat sugar ever again - I've been down this road so many times now and I know what will happen.

Until yesterday I hadn't had anything sugary since last Monday - but we were at friends' for lunch and I felt awkward about refusing dessert... I had a small portion and worried that might 'set me off' when I got home but luckily it didn't. It's early days and I know I'll probably have relapses too but if I can at least get to Christmas feeling better about myself it will be worth it...

I'm a sugar addict too. i have successfully lost weight (and felt better in all other ways too) after cutting out anything containing refined sugar. Unfortunately, I ended up having it again, and it all went pearshaped. I'm trying to do this again, but my willpower is rubbish. I know that if I could get through the first two or three days, then I'd be ok, and wouldn't crave it, but I just can't seem to get started. If you've manage to start it, then stick at it - you'll be feeling great soon!
