For anyone who has lost weight...how do you make the transition to a maintenance diet?

Have just reached my target weight and am not sure what I should be doing to make the transition to a maintenance diet.

I wasn't massively overweight and all but the last stone was baby weight. I was fairly healthy before and wasn't on very restricted diet, as still bf, but still not sure how to find the right level of calorie intake. Is it just trial and error? Someone I know suggested eating less during the week, and then eating whatever I wanted at the weekend, which seems like one good idea.

Can anyone with experience help?

I lost over 2 stone and have kept to the same weight for the 6 months since getting to my goal. I just view it as a new way of eating. I cut out all snacks except fruit and I try to eat healthily. If I eat more than usual, e.g. out to dinner, someone's birthday etc I eat less just before or afterwards. I run for 10 mins most mornings. It is trial and error really. I think that I do eat more at the weekend.

Watching this as I have just reached my goal

Out leader said you can eat 6 points more per day.

Thanks!

What's 6 points more? Is that weightwatchers? What does taht translate to in calories?

It is WW - I have no idea what it translates into in calories. If it's any help. I was on 18 points before, so that's about a third more, isn't it?

I'm actually keeping to around the 18 or so as I am a bit scared of putting it all back on again!

I think the best thing to do is to gradually increase your intake until you stop losing, then yuuo know you have reach your ideal intake to maintain rather than lose/gain weight

I know what you mean bigtilly, or should that be smalltilly now , I have been too scared to eat anymore this week, but am sure will gradually increse.

ducky - that makes sense. I guess if I keep counting the calories and weighing myself over the next few weeks I will get a good idea of what my intake should be normally. Will try that.

Thanks!
