I am not doing a great job and in the winter it is hrder as comfort food rules and then of course Christmas. I find diets boring an dguilt inducing so does anyone want to share tips with me for dropping a dress size?

Ok here's mine;

Drink lots of green tea (apparently it quickens the metabolism and contains anti-oxidants.)

Every morning drink a cup of hot lemon juice before breakfast.

Eat porridge and muesli for breakfast.

Eat low GI foods such as sweet potatoe etc.

Use slendertone belt.

I am a size 14 down below and a size 16 up top since dd by the way.

I guess some ideas for healthy winter comfort food would be ideal.

I made afab winter vegetable stew by steaming lots of root veg and putting them in a casserole with a tin of tomatoes, onion, veg stock and herbs. Cook for about 1 hour and a half.

Winter vegetable soup will also be on the menu.

I also invisage eating healthy fruit crumble with honet to sweeten the fruit and brown sugar and oats in the crumble.

Christma swill be my down point I expect.

Hello, I'll join you

I'm a tight 12 up top and a I've never been a 14 below but those size 12 clothes are n't tight, there structurally unsound I'm just gonna have to face up to it, before something fails

So to try and make those clothes just look a little bit better

I'm trying to wean my self off to much coffee, I only seem to get to drink half a cup before some crisis demands me so when ever there's calm I make a coffee...

I think most of our electricity is me boiling the kettle in anticapation
so...

Proper snack time at table with hot coffee/decaf coffee eventually leaf tea thing with a snack (fruit, small piece of fruit cake if tough day) on a plate at table. I make the kids do this already so will join them and get off the constant housework merry go round.

A few other tips on previous thread about how long to drop a dress size

Can I join please? I need all support I can get. I'm slowly growing from size 12 to 14 and thinking, who knows, I don't really want to say it.. No discipline, just eating for comfort and ignoring all the warning signs. tried Kellogg's thinking it would sort me out, no way, gained, not lost. I have to say I was warned by someone who tried it but it was after I already bought some boxes of stuff. I'm sure it must help someone but I put far too much so the fault is mine. I'll try my best so can I please join you?

poshsinglemum · 07/11/2009 22:57

I trhink size 12 would be my ideal as i would have to b v strict to be a size 10! I do love food which is my down point.

Was a size 8 in my eatly 20s but i like my curves in moderation! my tummy is doing my head in plus my tits. Am hoping boobs will shrink when bf is over!

Hi Bob, Posh, Friendly and Riven

May I join, please?

I am exclusively breastfeeding 7 week old twins, but am not currently losing any of the lardy bits that I piled on in pregnancy.

I had lost 2 stone with slimming world before I became pregnant, but still began pregnancy 2 st overweight at 13st 3lbs, size 16-18.

I put on heaps of weight in pregnancy - admittedly a lot of it was water - and have lost about 5 st since the boys were born by c section.

This morning I was 15st 7lbs - my target weight for the end of February is 11st 3 lbs, and I'd like to lose 1st by Christmas.

I am quite hungry - bf twins is supposed to burn about 1000 calories a day, and I think I would be able to lose the weight if I could stop with the unhealthy snacks and cut down on the toast with Clover and marmite.

So my plan is:
Fruit only for snacks between meals - no more biscuits / chocolate / toast/cake.
Fruit and fibre for breakfast instead of toast.
No marg. on bread or toast.

Get out for a walk with the pushchair at least twice in the next week.

Targets are:
Next Monday (16th Nov) 15st5lbs
23rd Nov 15st 3lbs
30th Nov 15st 1lbs
7th Dec 14st13lbs
14th Dec 14st 10lbs
21st Dec 14st 8lbs

What do you think?

motherlovebone · 08/11/2009 22:34

hello folks, id like to join, still havent lost my baby weight, DS was 1 yesterday!
i was the same with my firstborn (greedy) and slowly got to a size 10 by cutting down snacks and upping exercise.
im eating too many cakes and biccies and toasts, so im going to stop buying them as of now, and see how i go.
Zippys why dont you just have one toast and marmite (per session ) i will be halving mine too.
and hats, gloves and earmuffs off to you for bf twins!

ZippysMum · 09/11/2009 09:00

hi motherlove!

forgive typing - feeding again!

Good start today - had cereal for breakfast.

Going food shopping today to stock up on healthy stuff.

wideratthehips · 09/11/2009 15:38

i'd like to drop a dress size too!

this week...well day one i have had soup several times today to stop the hunger. this morning at 9am i made lentil and tomato soup and i've had three large mugs already. i drink lots of tick tock tea aswell. i had my third baby in march and i have now stopped breast feeding and have recently put back on 3/4 stone...not good! i look terribly frumpy when i'm overweight. i'm a 12 on top and a 14/16 on bottom, i have quite a small waist but unfortunately my thighs are wider than my hips...far too grim.

what does everyone think about brinking lots of soups?

motherlovebone · 09/11/2009 17:44

hi All

Forgot all about my no cake pledge and had a slice at breakfast (DS birthday yesterday) otherwise i havent snacked.

Posh are you on the green tea?

wider dont know much about soups, but lentil is v.good

bobdog · 10/11/2009 15:56

Hello,

As soon as I think I'm on a diet I immediately become obssessed with food and start craving lots of things I don't normally eat soooo not tooo much of the D word please.

Today I've not eaten lots of pies/chips/cakes
Have eaten more fruit & drunk lots more water
and have for the first time in 5 years been to a gym for an hour with some friends of friends who hire a personal trainer between them. I just asked around and someone knew some one who knew someone, etc. that combined with calling in a couple of childcare favours was realy positive.

motherlovebone · 10/11/2009 16:32

me again

where is everybody?
down the cafe without me?

am sticking to the plan-ish.

had a green tea today.

prefer a mocha tbh!

youcantlabelme · 10/11/2009 16:51

Can I join please?

Am only 4' 11', and am just over a stone too heavy for my height.

Would like some support to keep on the straight and narrow.

Today I have had:

innocent smoothie for breakfast

chicken salad sandwich(brown) for lunch (plus a packet of crisps

grapes and a pear, so that's three of my five a day.

It's in the evenings that I graze constantly, finishing off the kids left overs and eating before and after my dinner!!

When I lost loads before- years ago I admit, this time of year instaed of coffee I drank hot bovril/ marmite type drinks-only 4cals a mug!!

wideratthehips · 10/11/2009 18:05

hi all, i managed to survive on my tomato and lentil soup yesterday but had terrible heartburn...can't think what that must have been, today i didn't make any soup but i have been having a few carbs which is not good.

i love porridge and will start with that tomorrow, its finding the time to do it with a baby, two small children and a disorganised husband running around...but i will make it for baby and me, unfortunately no one else likes it, though the children did when they were babies!

whats other peoples eating plans like?

ZippysMum · 10/11/2009 19:22

hi all,
sounds good, wider - maybe the tomatoes gave you the heartburn - they sometimes do that to me.

Well, today I've had

fruit and fibre with a banana for breakfast

watercress soup and cheese and bics for lunch

pint of skimmed milk

leek and cheese flan with salad for supper

about 6 cups of tea

no snacks!!

(but when I weighed this am I had gained 1lb)
But on the plus side, when DTs were weighed today they had put on all right. DT1 had gained 1 1/2 lbs in 2 weeks

Must be all the cake !

wideratthehips · 10/11/2009 19:56

have you tried tick tock tea (redbush)? its so nice, i was getting a bit jittery drinking too much normal tea and i find it very soothing.

my diffiulties are that i make my own bread and lots of biscuits and cake s for everyone

motherlovebone · 10/11/2009 20:12

today ive had...

cucumber wedges, humous (sp?) and w.meal pitta

about half a jumbo pack of savoury ricecakes

2 vegeburger sarnies

mango and apple drink

teas galore, one of them green.

halva.

yes wider i do have the redbush sometimes, the vanilla is nice.

3 portions of fruit/veg?

shocking, im a vegetarian...my goal for tomorrow is 5 fruit and veg MINIMUM.

does a chocolate orange count?

good luck everyone, back tomorrow

friendly7 · 10/11/2009 22:17

Hi everyone, Didn't have ice-cream or chocolate after dinner, only 1 chicken leg portion with little rice for dinner but coffee with sugar (3 or 4 cups today, honestly can't remember but no more than 4). I had some muffing yesterday though, can't resist them all the time. I'll try tomorrow and every day, it's nice to be together and share our experience. We all have ups and downs but we do try. My tummy is my greatest downfall and not surprising - I spend far too long on computer and I don't exercises at all. Must try soup, sounds really good. I'm off to grab an apple or two. Have a nice evening.

wideratthehips · 11/11/2009 16:24

i've been thinking today that the way forward is to join a fitness class...at one point i was quite slim and very fit...ran 5k every second day and on the alternate days did circuits...when i was doing that i could eat like a horse (this was also 10 years ago)....i didn't worry about my weight....obviously weight gain is about putting to much energy rich food in your mouth so how about getting really fit? i would have to do my classes in the evening, but i could do a different mad one each night...body pump?? aerotone?? yikes

motherlovebone · 11/11/2009 18:53

spinning classes are meant to be good.

i used to run too wider
love it!
dont have a sitter or the inclination to do it now.

weighed myself today, not as bad as i thought.

friendly7 · 14/11/2009 22:45

Filling hungry and normally I'd have a cup of coffee with 2 sugars and 3 sausages! that's not good though. I'm going to cut some vegies and have my healthy snack instead. I have to say I had some wrong food today though - biscuits and some desert with cream. It's Saturday though so I can't be too strict. Do you know if hard cheese is as bad in colourise as ice-cream?
