After years of yo yo dieting I am totally fed up. I am approaching 30 next year and finally want to sort my weight issues out.

I need to loose at least 7 1/2 stone. My health is starting to be affected now as well and I want to be around to see my children grow up and hopefully my grandchildren.

I have many issues with food and have chosen to start on the cambridge diet and hopefully by eliminating all food, I can try and sort these issues, and reintroduce food that is sensible and healthy and break the unhealthy habits i have got into.

Anybody out there looking for a long term support group, doesnt really matter what diet your following and maybe a weekly weigh in.

Hi my bf has just started the cambridge, he is getting weighed as i type this, his 3rd week!! he lost 14lb then 3lb and today 6lb. he now weighs 18st 11. thats good going i think.. he did do it before few years back but he just stopped and started eating everything in sight that he missed!! the only way for it to work is to do the after programme as he just went into his old habits biscuits for breakfast :#
Has anyone else lost this sort of weight in 3 weeks (23lb) or is it a fluke?

readyfornumber2and3 · 12/11/2009 17:10

That looks like normal for a man (as they lose quicker anyway) I am having my 3rd weigh in tomorrow and my losses have been wk1 10 lbs and wk2 3 lbs.

I lost 7 1/2 stone last year on it but fell pregnant a month into the maintainence and went back to old habits and gained 4 stone back [blush)

Redazzy · 12/11/2009 18:20

Missperfecttoes, I have just finished lighterlife abstinence (I'm not sure if Cambridge has a meal as part of it) and have lost 7stone 4.5lbs in 5 months. I lost 22.5lbs in the first 3 weeks so it is not a fluke, especially for a man! And I was around the same weight as your boyfriend when I started.

missperfecttoes · 12/11/2009 18:21

Good luck for 2morra then, hopefully yr loose 5 or 6lb readyfornumber2and3 7 1/2 stone WOW that was brilliant.. its certainly a quick way to get the fat off!! Do you think that the more there is to loose the quicker it come off?? im hoping it dont slow down too much and come off in drib and drabs for him. We was told 4lb is the average loss per week.

missperfecttoes · 12/11/2009 18:26

Just read yr post Redazzy thanks! thats so good ,, He is set on doing it for another 5 weeks so fingers x he will continue... .. .then do the follow on plan over christmas

hope everyone else is doing ok x

toddlerama · 16/11/2009 16:33

I started LL on Wednesday last week. Had a mid-week weigh in on Sunday night and had lost 5.5lbs. Thank God, because if the news hadn't been good I don't know how I would have kept going! Roll on Wednesday!

Is it normal to feel like you are just marking time between weighs? Does this feeling fade as you get into a rhythm? At the moment, I just want early nights to scratch another day off!

Colonelcupcake · 16/11/2009 16:45

Hi I just had my week 2 weigh in and its a 3 lb lost which means 11lbs in 2 weeks! Hurray :D

mummymels · 16/11/2009 23:10

Hi everyone, is there room for one more here? I've been doing Go Lower which I believe it similar to The Cambridge Diet for a couple of months now. I've lost 22lbs so far in 6 weeks. I look forward to hearing how you are all getting on.

Colonelcupcake · 17/11/2009 07:49

Hi Mummymels that is a great loss! Well done

mummymels · 17/11/2009 17:34

Thanks Colonelcupcake. It sounds as if you are doing really well too. How are you finding it? Which is your favourite meal?

Colonelcupcake · 18/11/2009 12:50

Thanks mummymels it can be really hard at times with the psychological cravings but that should pass, I really love the porridge with a little bit of cinnamon in it.

mummymels · 18/11/2009 16:40

Sorry Colonelcupcake if I am asking something you have already said but how long have you been on it? With Go Lower I found the cravings really hard the 3 or 4 days or so but then they did start to pass and it amazes me now how I don?t feel hungry when I used to always feel hungry. I didn?t think I would be the sort of person to do a diet and not fee hungry but it does work.

Cinnamon sounds nice but I have to say I am not a milk person at all so couldn?t imagine eating porridge. Can you eat meals as well with that diet?

Colonelcupcake · 19/11/2009 09:33

Hi I have been on it for two and a half weeks now and I crave the rubbish I used to pig on in the evenings or when I got stressed I used to turn to chocolate crisps and coke and the like,

I hate milk but none of it tastes milky with the exception of the vanilla shake.

The one I am on is called Sole Source which means no extra food at all however, there are lots of diffrent levels which do include food on them but I am doing the lowest calory option to get the weight of fast before progressing on to eating again.

I need the strictness of it all and I feel if I ate I would over eat or not stop picking.

I don't feel hungry at all though

mummymels · 19/11/2009 13:34

Hi Colonelcupcake - I so understand where you are coming from with the cravings. I felt like that at the beginning too. I am a real chocoholic and have to admit it scared me a bit at the beginning of Go Lower knowing I could only have one chocolate bar every other day. I didn't know how I would cope but I have amazed myself at how quickly I have got used to it and don't crave it anymore.

That's good that it doesn't taste milky. I have a nut and seed mix for breakfast that can be mixed with milk but I never do that. Instead I either just eat it on its own or sometimes mix it with greek yoghurt and add a few berries to give it more flavour. It's actually nice on it's own too though.

I understand your reasons for doing the no food option and it sounds as if you are doing really well. It's great that you don't feel hungry. I haven't tried that but can't imagine me not eating! lol, I am just a piggy but that's why I like Go Lower because it's a happy medium. It's great though that you are able to keep to that.

Colonelcupcake · 19/11/2009 15:19

On the go lower what do you actually eat, do you have to buy it all from go lower do you see a counciller reguarly how does that part work?

mummymels · 19/11/2009 20:08

For breakfast you have the granola mix and you can either have that on its own or with natural yoghurt on and some raspberries.

For lunch they have a choice of soups. You can even add some cheese on it if you want which suits me down to the ground.

In the afternoon you can have one of their snacks - there are either a couple of different flavoured nut bars or a bacon crunchy crisp.

Then for dinner you have one of their main meals. They have a list of vegetables you can have it with - mainly green vegetables.

You are also allowed some milk during the day, tea, mint tea and you have to drink 6-8 cups of water.

Then the best bit is that you can have a treat every other day - they have a few choices of things like chocolate brazil nuts, chocolate mousse, chocolate brownie etc.

Most of it is bought though Go Lower but things like the cheese, yoghurt, vegetables, fruit you buy yourself. They deliver it to your house so it's very convenient.

I'm not at the stage yet but I'm pretty sure once you have been on it for a while you can make your own low carb recipes instead of their ones but not at the beginning.

With regards to the support you have a one to one on the phone every week but you can call or email them as much a you need inbetween and there is a forum on the website although I haven't used it yet but I have had a little read on there.

mummymels · 23/11/2009 22:23

mummymels · 26/11/2009 18:34

I'd like to get down to about 10 stone. I'm not 12 stone 12 so still quite a bit more to go.

Colonelcupcake · 27/11/2009 16:30

I am 11.7 want to be in low 9's

toddlerama · 28/11/2009 23:11

OK, I've been on LL for 2.5 weeks. At my 2 week weigh in, I had lost 12 pounds!! I'm hoping to have lost my first stone at week 3. I will still have around 3.5 stone to go though. eek!

mummymels · 30/11/2009 21:53

That's brilliant toddlerama, you are doing so well.

I had weigh in today. I only lost 2lbs this week which is disappointing but on the plus side that makes it exactly 2 stone altogether now so I am pleased about that.
