Paul McKenna weightloss system

C1NDY · 09/06/2009 09:47

Hi, I have just started the Paul McKenna weightloss system. Would be interested in anyone else who wants to join this journey with me. I have started the 90 days journal entry.

I went to Paul's seminar on Saturday and found it truly inspiring.

PLEASE DO NOT COME ON THIS THREAD AND TELL ME THAT PAUL MCKENNA DID NOT WORK FOR YOU. AS I AM SO INSPIRED THAT I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THE FAILURES - THIS IS GOING TO BE A SUCESSFUL THREAD! If I follow Paul's rules I can't fail.

Look forward to anyone else wanting to share positive thoughts on this system.

Thanks
Cindy

cream tea was lovely

i fell off the wagon a little last ngiht, my daughter has a party to go to last night and althought i wasnt hungry i started nibbling on the cocktail sausages and crisps. Needless to say though i had a couple, maybe 3, and realsied i wasn't enjhoying them so stopped. So hopefully not too much damage done.

I was also a bit naughty yesterday morning and got on the scales one whole week is very very good for me though honestly. I was very happy to see I had lost a few pounds but will now wait until next weekend until i do it again.

C1NDY can I ask what made you decide to do this? and what was the seminar like?

C1NDY · 14/06/2009 19:38

Ginger Howdy. I did a very naughty thing ... I weighed myself yesterday and have lost 5lbs!!! wow... that's without trying. MY sister is going to hide the scales now... oh well!!

It wasn't my idea to do PM, my sister booked the session for me. Such an angel eh?? Well, I am a convert... its the best thing ever. I needed something postive to come into my life and this is it. I am no longer controlled by food... I am controlling the food now and I feel energised and blessed!!

Ginger... you will never fall off the wagon as the most wonderful thing is, if you do over indulge you just start again at the next eating time... i.e. when you are hungry. It will take time to change habits of a life time.

Have not done much exercise this weekend but am looking forward to getting back to work so I can have my daily walks again.

Take care for now
Cindy

oh wow thats fantastic cindy, well done. My loss was 5 lbs too and 1.5 inches round my waist which is so brilliant, and must be becasue I am not bloated the whole time from stuffing my face

i know what you mean and the slip up, its hardly falling off the wagon really, because i just waited til i was hungry to eat again, I was just annoyed that I felt that horrible urge to eat for the sake of eating if you know what i mean

have fun with the walking tomorrow, I have been walking as much as possible and gardening alot

C1NDY · 15/06/2009 11:18

Hi ginger WoW! well done on the weight loss. We will have many more weeks of this, I think this system is so easy that I feel totally in control around food.

Going for my walk this morning

Joolsiam · 15/06/2009 11:46

Well done both

My scales have moved down 1 lb for the first time in 4 weeks That is 2 weeks of Cambridge Diet, one week of low carbing and one week of calorie counting with a bit of the Paul McKenna stuff thrown in.

I haven't watched the video or listened to the DVD yet as I've spent all weekend gardening - will do so though.

The one thing I am doing is savouring my food more and eating slowly, which means I am satisfied much quicker and therefore want less food.

I've given up on the idea of the Cambridge Diet anyway - can't deal with the deprivation when I'm not seeing the scales move. Am pinning all my hopes on eating sensibly and lowering my expectations - if I could lose 3 lb per month, I'd be happy now !!

gingernutlover · 15/06/2009 12:02

joolsiam

i did cambridge 2 years ago for 9 weeks and lost nearly 3.5 stone

i kept it all off until about 6 months back when i had a bit of a crappy couple of months and the eating started again LOL . It is a fantastic diet but you need to have your head in the right place to handle it

I am a stone heavier now than when i came off cambridge but still a size 14 (was a size 20 after dd) so not worried if it takes longer than it would on cambridge. I also feel this is a plan for life, no counting, no banned foods etc etc just listening to your body. Was thinking the other day that the reason I dont eat banana's is because they are so high in weight watcher points for fruit - how ridiculous is that! So I am now enjoyign bananas again

I have found since I started this that I also feel much happier (I am prone to bouts of depression which triggers my eating) I feel in control which is really important for me.

I also wantyed to say that i tried cambridge for a week earlier this spring and although i lost 12 lbs in a week I found it impossible to lose anymore for weeks after (i went onto ww from cambridge) I think Camrbidge does something funny to your metabolism and my body was in shock for a bit after.

Happily, now I seem to be able to lose again so I am telling everyone I meet to go and getthemselves hypnotised haha. My best mate said to me that she thinks it's all in my head and is only working becasue I think it should - "well so what!" is what I said to her. I do believe it should work, its common sense and involves a hell of a lot less will power than counting calories or eating nothing but shakes.

gingernutlover · 15/06/2009 12:03

oooooooooops that was sooooo long, sorry

Joolsiam · 15/06/2009 12:10

ooh that's really interesting about your stall on CD Gingernutlover - thanks for mentioning it - I'm glad I'm not alone

I have a theory that I was eating just far too little and my metabolism had gone into starvation mode. All the CD counsellors say that it slows up your metabolism, but with the calorific intake so low, you HAVE to keep losing. When I mentioned my problems on another forum, they were just adamant that I was cheating in some way and not admitting to it . They would not accept the fact that some people struggle. I have the same problem with GP's - get lectured because I'm still "obese" according to my BMI but they just close their minds when I talk about how much exercise I do and how healthy my diet is. They just assume that eating less will solve the problem and if you are fat, you are weak-willed

Judy1234 · 15/06/2009 12:16

And I think you will all haev succeeded when you don't think about food and don't want to weigh yourselves either, when it's not ever present in the mind. When I moved to three regular proper meals a day that was the biggest gain, not so much the weight loss as the not thinking about food so much. Just eating at normal meal times and then stopping and not grazing all day and in particular not thinking about food much at all.

gingernutlover · 15/06/2009 12:55

i think you are right xenia

for me it is all about realising what is a reasonable amount for me to need to eat at a meal.

joolsiam, my target weight is 11 stone which for my height will still be about half a stone overwieght according to the silly bmi tables.

I just know when I was that before I was pretty much happy with myself. All those bmi things are ridiculous as they dont take account of people who have lots of muscle (not me) or huge boobs (me he he), or people who just look fine the way they are.

Judy1234 · 15/06/2009 13:50

Yes, portions are often the issue for some people. In the US we'd get a meal for one and it would feed the twins and me. Some people have lost sight of what a normal sized meal is.

Joolsiam · 15/06/2009 13:56

Well I wandered into M&S, looking for some lunch - I would have stuck with the boring carb-free ham and egg salad but decided to be revolutionary and had a Count on Us chicken pasta salad - ate two thirds very slowly and got so full, I was able to throw the rest away - very proud of myself I still looked at calorie content, but didn't go for the absolute lowest there, which I would have done previously

You are right on portion sizes - when I was pregnant, I asked the GP for help with diet because I'd been dieting for so long, I was struggling to work out what a normal, healthy plate of food looked like ! She was pleasant, but really didn't comprehend the fact that I needed help with something like that

Joolsiam · 15/06/2009 13:57

oh, and re BMI - the top end for me is still 2 stone and 10 lbs away. I'm certain I need to lose another 2 stone, but will see how things are once I get there.

Main thing for me is to get to the point where I don't get classified as obese - that is 9 lbs away now

I don't have any boobage either, and what I have has shrunk with the weight loss I do have muscle mass though, as I am in the gym 5 days per week.

gingernutlover · 15/06/2009 14:00

how did you get your boobs to shrink when you dieted my bra size went down but not the cup size so I am still wearing the heavy duty bras

mumski · 15/06/2009 14:17

Hi Cindy
Really interested to read your posts.
What was the seminar like. Did he hypnotise everyone in the room?
I looked at doing this ages ago but couldn't manage the price. How much was it (sorry to be cheeky)
Will be following you and Ginger and hope you have loads of success.
If it looks successful will think about selling the DCs to fund it

Joolsiam · 15/06/2009 14:53

Gingernutlover - the boob thing is sods law I think ! I was only ever optimistically almost filling a C cup, but I'm going to have to go out and buy some B cups soon

My mum is a AA and I suspect that, if I were as thin as here, I would be equally under-endowed exactly where I'd love NOT to lose weight

Judy1234 · 15/06/2009 16:29

Normal portions? I usualyl go for a fist - meat the size of my fist, carbs (brown ideally like brown rice or baked potato) that size and a portion of veg that size.

gingernutlover · 15/06/2009 18:24

mumski

i used an online hypnosis

was £20

or you can buy paul mckennas cd and bok for even less than that - I just preferred the other guys voice LOL

BlueKat · 16/06/2009 02:17

I also went to the PM workshop on the 6th.

I was so sick on the day I could hardly take in what he was saying. But I must have been listening as I feel completely inspired and ready to beat this thing!!

I have been eating 'properly' for the first time that I can remember. The slow/conscious eating did feel very odd to start but it already feels more normal now.

I feel my clothes beginning to loosen a bit and can't wait to weigh myself. Luckily I don't have scales at home and have to go to Boots...

ClaudiaSchiffer · 16/06/2009 06:29

Hi there, I've got his book and have about a stone or so to loose. I was thinking of WW as I find the communal shame of weighing in quite motivating. But will try this for a few weeks first.

My problem is that I am a SAHM and so am bored for chunks of the day. Therefore I nibble and then eat meals with my kids and dh. It's really no surprise that I could shift a few lbs. If I can sort out the boredom thing - ie take my kids for a walk (!!) I think I could easily knock off a stone or so.

So tell me what was the workshop like? Is Paul McKenna fab or a little creepy?

C1NDY · 16/06/2009 11:21

Hi everyone. Boss has been keeping me busy so have not been able to post as much as I would have liked

Mumski I was lucky as my sister paid for me, as she was sick and tired of me doing all kind of diets... I think it was £258 pounds for the one day seminar. Paul does hyponitise you ... twice in the seminar. There was about 500 (I think, could be less) but he had his team with him, so that you could go off and talk to them about techniques he was teaching during the day. I am so grateful to my sister for giving me my life back. I am so much in control

Jools I am so happy for you that you are ditching the diet and eating more sensibly. Its great isn't it.

Ginger If my hypnoisis disappears, I may come back to you for the online details but so far I am doing very well.

BlueKat Welcome!! You must have been on the same seminar as me. I had a fab day and like you am so inspired. I have already lost 5 lbs... and I have so much energy!

Claudia Paul is amazing... and not creepy at all. Read his book and follow his techniques.. the tapping exercise will work wonders for your cravings. Listen to your body, eat only when you are truly hungry... then eat slowly and enjoy every mouthful, STOP when you are full. You will be amazed

C1NDY · 16/06/2009 11:22

By the way I have boobs and can't wait for them to disappear...

Joolsiam · 16/06/2009 11:27

I've just been having a lively discussion with someone about weight loss plateau's on another forum - she is evangelical about WW and has lost consistently 2 or 3lb per week all year. She can't believe that I've not cheated for a month, exercised like a demon and not lost any weight - it feels like she, along with my GP, is accusing me of cheating but not admitting to it and making me feel like a failure instead of being a supportive fellow dieter Very sad as I thought she was a friend ...

Oh well, another pound down today (yes I know, I shouldn't look but I haven't been hypnotised yet !) That takes me back down to the weight I was after doing 7 weeks of CD and stopping as I fell pregnant. Onwards and downwards

vonsudenfed · 16/06/2009 11:41

Hello everyone,

Glad to find this thread - I've been doing it for 5 days now and it feels brilliant - all of my eating habits are already very different - I even went to the pub and didn't eat a single crisp out of the open packet in front of me. It is most strange.

So are you doing this out of the book or from the CD? For me the CD is the key thing; I'm listening to it every night and it has stopped me from reading newspapers while eating, I'm chewing slowly and generally being a model pupil.

And I agree with Xenia - I'll have really won when I'm not even thinking about it at all!

C1NDY · 16/06/2009 12:52

Jools some people are really not worth the typing!! . We are all made differently so if your not losing it could be a number of reasons. Just focus on this and you will be fine... even when you become pregnant you can eat when your hungry and then stop when your full. You will no longer be overweight... But you do what you are happy with i.e. do WW along with way of eating, it will make a difference. Sometimes its not all about losing the pounds but how you feel on the inside. Paul McKenna has made me feel like I did when I was 10 stone.. its only when I look in the mirror that I see that the fat girl is still there. But that's okay because I love her too and one day she will disappear!! goush, I know I sound like a crazy women but honestly through my eyes I am already slim, its only a window or mirror that reminds me of my current form!

Vonsuden Glad you found us. Thought only Ginger and I had found the miracle system. It is an eye opener, that something so simple can make you feel great. Also, the idea that I can take or leave food... I am so much control right now that I feel really good.

Went for my walk at lunchtime. I did 18,605 steps yesterday which equate to just under 7 miles... which is flipping excellant (Yes, blowing my own trumpet). I have already done 10,000, so only need to do 5,000 more to meet my daily target which I have set myself If you haven't already get a perdometer they are wonderful gadgets, no need to go to the gym. I pop mine on in the morning and its pop it off at bedtime... its a part of me now.
