I need proof that it works long term.

If you go to the MiniMins site you will find lots of success stories of people who have lost the weight on LL or Cambridge and have managed to keep it off.

Are you thinking about doing it?

I don't know anyone. And what about poor Kirsty Alley - lost all that weight and it has all piled back on again.

i think it can work with willpower

I went to see a LL counsellor about possibly joining the program. She was even bigger than me and I need to loose around 5 stone. Apparently she had lost the weight but had put it back on due to family problems. I'm sorry for the women's problems but I'm afraid that put me right off joining.

There is an excellent book called 'Eating Less' by Gillian Riley. It looks at how we become addicted to food and how you can break the addiction. The truth of what she says hits you in the face on nearly every page. It makes so much bloody sense that I think it should be prescribed reading for anyone with an over eating problem. It's no quick fix but it goes a lot more into why you over eat than what I saw Lighter Life offers

Kirsty Alley wasn't doing Lighter Life though.
Did you see that article in the Times on Monday I think. Apparently research now suggests that people with a lot to lose who go on a VLCD keep the weight off better than on a conventional diet.

Of course you have to go through all the steps. Introduce food slowly in the correct order etc.

I did lighter life THREE times and put all the weight back on each time. I don't know a single person who kept it off for more than a few months.

It is a horrible diet - they promise the world and then leave you to pick up the pieces.

Have you tried at home programmes? I like www.nubeginningsinnercircle.co.uk because they send me free hypnotherapy CDs that have made a big difference. -50lbs and counting....

I know one person who lost a lot - probably 4 stone and has kept it off by basically living on Weightwatchers - she totally changed her outlook on food.

And another woman who did it and then immediately put it back on when she stopped.

I didn't. :0(
