How much weight is one dress size?

Do you know? I would assume, it depends on how big or small you are, but I would like to be a 12/14 instead of a 14/16 quite quickly (8 weeks!).

How much should I aim for? Was thinking a stone - is that a dress size?

That special K ad reckons one dress size in 2 weeks doesn't it??

Any thoughts/advice greatly appreciated

I would say 14/16 to a 12/14 would be around a stone, yes.

you can lose 2lbs per week on a sensible weight loss plan. which makes a stone v. doable in 8 weeks. you will definitely go down a dress size. what are you planning on doing?

suwoo · 12/05/2009 11:20

At WW they say roughly 10lb. Of course it depends on the individual and whereabouts on your body you lose it from.

Candlewax · 12/05/2009 11:27

SW also say 10lb lost is a new dress size. Good luck and you should be able to do it in your eight weeks.

It depends a lot on height too, but it was always a stone for me.

Fantastic - I said a stone in 8 weeks to a friend at the weekend and she gave me that oh so sympathetic look like I was mad!! I thought that was alright??

My plan ReligiousBiscuit (love the name) - is to stop stuffing my face - I eat far too much!! I did 4lbs last week, pouring washing up liquid over the kids leftovers and serving myself half portions of everything. I'm feeling positive - mostly!! (and quite hungry - ARGH!)

Getting married in 8 weeks which isn't the main worry, but off on a beach honeymoon and don't want to be hiding under the lounger whilst my skinny hubby and kids run around on the beach!!

Thanks for responses!

food focus website is really good. stops you kidding yourself about that leetle tiny muffin. also encourages you to exercise for extra calories.

good luck.

Food Focus definitely works, have lost a stone in 7 weeks on that and not felt hungry at all. Been eating loads of jacket potatoes and salad which are surprisingly filling.

Good luck!

and for me a stone is a dress size, 9-10st I'm a size 10, 10-11st I'm a 12 and so on. I'm 5ft 7 if that helps.

conkeyhead · 12/05/2009 14:58

Food focus - brilliant - thank you!! I'm going to tell everyone!
