Has anyone followed Weight Watchers without signing up to the meetings?

I went to the meetings over a year ago before getting pregnant. I want to restart but can't afford to spend out on the meetings each week and they are also at an inconvenient time. I have all the paperwork from before. Do you think it is possible to just do the diet without signing up? Or would this be setting myself up to fail?

I know a couple of people who used to do it and now when they need to lose a bit they don't bother with the meetings. Depends if you have enough resolve to do it without the weigh-ins I guess?

I am on week three. I quite like the weigh-ins, it's strangely hilarious in the church hall.

I like the meetings too. My choice would be to attend them. But cost and time issues are a problem this time around.

I am not sure on my resolve either. And I have a tonne (ha ha) to lose.

You will probably be fine once you get into the swing of it. It's such a waste of time to obsess about points and not do it properly.

I started on Monday and am roughly sticking to 18 points a day.

I know how to do the Weight Watchers programme so don't feel I need to go to meetings again. I only want to lose 9lbs so it doesn't seem worth the aggravation of re-registering.

Did the weekly weigh in spur you on when you attended Weight Watchers in the past? If so we could do one here on Monday mornings for anyone doing WW without the meetings.

I'm doing it atm without going to meetings. Started on jan 12th and have lost 12lbs so far.
I did it 4 years ago originally and lost 2 1/2 stone and got to gold...lol put it all back on slowly though!

troutpout · 11/03/2009 23:19

I weigh in on a monday too . Yep...i would be up for doing a monday check in

Amandoh · 12/03/2009 17:18

Monday morning weigh in it is then!

12lbs off so far is great Troutpout.

I often try to do the diet at home as I know it inside out, but the best way by far is to attend meetings, for me. Well, it's not actually the meetings, it's the weighing-in and paying. I find that I only stick to it properly, or for any length of time, if I'm paying each week. My attitude seems to then be "I've spent a fiver on this so I'd better get my money's worth and stick to it" or that I'll feel almost embarrassed or worried about having to explain it at a meeting if I haven't lost any.. Having said that, I started doing it by myself this week and I feel fairly motivated so far - we'll see how long that lasts

Just give it a go and see how you do!

Oooh can I gate-crash? I've just started back doing ww online (after doing meetings last time round) and really miss the whole weigh in pressure!

My weigh in day is Monday so could I join in? My only problem this week is that I realised two days after after my initial weigh in that my scales were bust and were weighing everything wrong. Consequently I have no real idea how much I weighed this time last week. Scales are fixed now so my plan is to weigh myself tomorrow and start again from there (a bit gutting as I feel I have 'wasted' a week of points counting without ever knowing how much I have lost!).

Overall I've got about 24lbs to lose.

troutpout · 16/03/2009 10:45

oh good...another monday joiner .How annoying lulu about the scales.I bet you lost a few pounds last week too with it being the start.
How did you do Amandoh?
I bombed on 2 days...(lunch with a friend and a takeaway evening). These were planned so...i just thought i'd go with it. Anyway...i'm quite pleased as i managed to stick with it the rest of the time and so i haven't lost anything but also haven't put any on.(quite a result if i remember back to what i actually ate)

MakkaPakkasPacamac · 16/03/2009 11:06

I also find that I do better these days without weighing myself - in fact I don't even own any scales. There's nothing worse than thinking you've done really well all week but then the scales don't reflect that (which could be an aberration anyway). I then get all disheartened and give in. At the moment I have a pair of trousers which I know will fit me when I lose about half a stone and they are what I'm using to judge my success (or lack of!)
