I have a 15mo dd who is rubbish at being apart from me - creche always come to get me within about 10mins, so the gym's out. Do fitness dvds work and if so, which do I get? I've GOT to lose weight in the next 2 months - my mum's visiting from abroad for the first time in 14months and she's going to give me such a hard time!!!!

i hear davinas are good

sheilatakeabow · 01/03/2009 20:50

I got one off Amazon, a ten-minute pilates one, but they do all sorts in the range. It's great if you don't have much time, as each section is (duh) ten minutes. It's also great for motivating you, as you can force yourself to do the ten minutes, and, once that's up, you quite fancy doing another. I have done more exercise with this in the past couple of months than in the whole of the past year. But you shouldn't just lose weight because your mum's going to give you a bollocking

The new Davina McCall one is great, I have her first one too and that was good.
Your legs and bum will hurt the next day, so beware

Nell McAndrews are fab....really hardcore though and lots of squats, so, not good if knee probs....

Davinas are good, oh and Tae Bo - Billy Blanks are fab

Thanks - thought davina may crop up!!! Would people recommend the pre/ post natal one of one of the 'normal' ones - bearing in mind that dd is 15mo - but I am very unfit now!

davinaaaaaaaa

power of three

she tells you what you can do for an 'easy' version as you go, so it's as hard as you like...

i'm going to get mine out agin this very day - i had 'filed' them for a few months whilst i piled on the lard, but it's now time for them to reappear

ShowOfHands · 03/03/2009 12:19

Normal ones definitely. All of hers are good. If time's a factor then the High Energy Five one is 5 20 minute workouts. So you can do 20 minutes or do 2 workouts and do 40 minutes and if you do the aerobics first then one of the legs/upper body/abs ones then you're getting a pretty good workout. There's always the option to do an easier version of the exercise and because it's based on interval training, it's not as hard as you might suspect. I started working out when dd was 12 months, do some running too and have lost 2 stones.

Once Davina gets easier, Nell McAndrew is good but much harder.

ShowOfHands · 03/03/2009 12:20

Power of Three is her first one and it's still excellent. Works everything.

stickylittlefingers · 03/03/2009 12:30

another vote for Davina - the post natal one is good for the early days, but I wouldn't recommend getting it now. Just do the normal ones and there are nearly always a hard and easy version of each of the moves, so you can do it at your own pace.

Minicooper · 03/03/2009 19:20

Oooh, thanks everyone. Time to take action, methinks! Davina here I come then!
