Right, who is going to join me in a Lent Let's Cut the Crap thang?

I refuse to call it a diet. However I am a PIG aat the moment and need to lose up to a stone or thereabouts. But I have nil willpower. So the great plan is to be more careful/less piggy throughout Lent and be all delighted with my new self come Easter.

Anyone else?

Just me then?

Ah well.

No, me too. Sort of started today but have just polished off three pancakes and a load of the boys' sausages. I want to loose about 9lbs.

BananaSkin · 24/02/2009 18:16

Tell you what - why don't we commit to write here what we eat each day (no lying) - I'll be far too embarrassed to eat like I normally do.

sassy · 24/02/2009 18:17

Yay! A buddy.

Just eaten 3 pancakes myself (burp).

Lent starts tomorrow....

Have also left car at school and walked back this morning - mile and a half up a maHOOsive hill. Got to walk back in a bit to collect dd2 from nursery.

Walked to get dd (down hill this time); planning to get on wii fit this evening (but not do a fitness test cos my little mii will be proper round if I do!). Evening meal roast chicken drumstick, few pieces of roasted potatoes, carrots, peas. And plain yoghurt.

yup i am def in, i am 21 weeks pregnant and have put just over 2 stone on in the last 5 months.
as im pregnant i cant DIET as such, but cut the crap sounds fabby! i had already decided to give up all takeaways, and had my last mac d yesterday.

i have 2 DC who and nearly 3 and 2, and a DH who has given up takeaways too.

so...
today i had 2 weetabix for brekkie (semi skimmed milk bleh)
just had a jacket with cheese and beans (not fabby but i didnt have 2 like normal, and limited the cheese)
im having homemade low fat curry for dinner, but without the extras (naan, etc)

how is everyone else doing?

Smithagain · 25/02/2009 13:52

Can I join?

Specifically I intend to give up:
chocolate
crisps
butter

Bread and butter is my dietary downfall - I know that cutting it out would make a huge difference to my health. But I also crave it, so this could be tough.

Today:
Yoghurt and fruit for breakfast
Rice cake for snack
Two cups coffee
Jacket potato with cheese and bacon for lunch (OK, not ultra healthy, but no butter on the potato, which is a start).

sassy · 25/02/2009 19:53

well afternoon went ok until 5pm when I was in kitchen cooking tea and ate 3 cream crackers with butter. Hmm.
Have also had an apple and a raw carrot; light tea as above. Not gonna eat anything else today.

OP posts:
NattyPlus2andAHalf · 25/02/2009 19:59

ah not bad sassy, i scoffed two chocolates while cooking

ive had chicken breast and salad in pitta for dinner, with sweet potato mash.
kids and hubby had curry but i have awful heartburn so just kept some chicken out for me.
im still hungry but im trying hard not to snack as i know i dont really NEED to eat again.

BananaSkin · 25/02/2009 23:31

Don't think I can do this after all. Just haven't got the time to type out all I have eaten today . Tomorrow is another day etc...

sassy · 26/02/2009 11:26

ooh banana skin ,don't be downhearted. Ax you say tomorrow (today) is another day (Fiddledee!)

DId 20 mins step aerobics on wii fit last night. Today have eaten

banana and coffee
latte (yum)
2 boiled eggs and 2 big slices of taost with butter (brekfast-cum-lunch)

Off to work now.

OP posts:
sassy · 26/02/2009 17:29

Bread and cheese for tea. Lots of fruit later as well. Wii fit again later.

(this thread is just like my RL; me wittering inanaely away t myself and others chipping in occasionally!)

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 26/02/2009 20:55

lol sassy, sorry ive been out all day today

ive had
toast and lemon curd
tea
cheese and pickle sandwich, donut and water from greggs (which i dont STRICTLY count as crap, cos i have to eat when out, and its not mac ds or anything)
i had mac cheese and peas for dinner, and another cup of tea.
im hungry but am in bed as i have discovered i am more lazy then gluttonus (sp?) and wont go downstairs for food

not much exercise as i had a fall yesterday and am resting my sore back and hips, i think i fell a bit funny.

thats it for me

curlygal · 26/02/2009 21:02

Hello I'd like to join in too please.

I need to lose just over a stone, in addition to being repulsed by my back fat (lovely) and generally wobbliness I was asked if I was Expecting number too. (this has happened more than once now and I am SO NOT PREGNANT unfortunately)

I'll start on Monday I think, ok then

bowl of porridge, two slices fruit toast, banana, cheese sandwich, yourt, apple, three digestives plus bits of DS left over pizza and a bite of suasage

Haven;t had my tea yet so not looking too good so far is it?

BananaSkin · 26/02/2009 22:06

I'm a bit of a grazer, so I don't think I will be able to contribute to this thread after all. It would take all day to list my '3 malties, 2 raisins, 1/10th of digestive, 1/2 satsuma' etc!

Have decided to get an exercise bike and focus on that as I have realised that this is why I am turning to fat. Until recently I have always done (& enjoyed) lots of exercise. Firstly at a gym and then pushing a single, then double, then single, again, buggy. Now I am busy with 3 children and don't really have time to walk all day, so an exercise bike in the evenings will probably help (though knowing me I will be eating rolos and cycling at the same time).

sassy · 27/02/2009 12:50

Since weds I have lost 2lbs!
Just goes to show waht a piiig I was being if stepping up the excercise and eating a bit more sensibly can do that. Feeling all excited and motivated now.

Today...
coffee, 1/2 pt water
bowl special k w/raisins
large latte
toasted teacake and sald w/chunk of cheese for lunch; about to have an apple.

However...am off out on MN meetup later tonight. Have already pre-ordered Thai chicken curry and am bound to eat lots of delish bread and oils as a starter. Hmmm. Think I will possibly fall off the wagon later..

OP posts:
sassy · 27/02/2009 12:51

Banana - no worries- I am pretty sure it is the excercise not the eating which has had the effect on me. Sounds a good ides to get a bike. Enjoy.

Natty - be careful and look after self!

OP posts:
BananaSkin · 27/02/2009 16:29

Well done Sassy .

Have managed a fair bit of walking (up hills) the last 3 days. I'm also eating my version of diet food - like peeling the chocolate bit off a chocolate roll!

BananaSkin · 27/02/2009 16:30

Have hidden the scales in the garage though as part of my problem was that when I put on weight (which I now realise was water retention as I can get my rings back on now) - I had a tendancy to get fed up and eat more.

Smithagain · 27/02/2009 19:06

OK - today:

Bfast: porridge with dried fruit and only a little tiny bit of brown sugar, fruit juice, coffee

Lunch: toast and low fat pate, tbsp coleslaw

Coffee with friends after lunch: 1 slice Banana cake, but it was homemade so am not counting that as cr@p

In from school snack: 2 rice cakes, slice cheese, glass smoothie

Tea: Full-on fish and chips takeaway and home made flapjack

Not sure whether to give myself full marks for avoiding the three things I said I'd give up, or despair at my ability to substitute other unhealthy stuff instead

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 27/02/2009 20:31

dear me i have eaten bugger all today, cos ive been to busy and i am really feeling it.

had 1/2 weetabix for brekkie
ginsters pasty for lunch
soup and roll for dinner
2 yogharts and a orange for afters

but then took sweet tea and 4 digestives to bed as was feeling faint.

i must snack more (like fruit and raisins etc) because i am feeling really rough if i dont eat much, and because im not always eating what hubby and kids have because avoid fatty foods, im thinking ill have something later, then forgetting. whoops

i tell you what this eating healthy, but trying not to gain too much weight in pregnancy is flippin hard.

well done sassy! keep it up, imagine how much you could loose in the next month
