I need to lose weight about 4-5 stone after having my 2 boys.

The main meals I eat aren't that bad. We'll have Chilli, spag bol, curries, roast dinners etc. If we ever have chips they are homemade oven chips. But I snack!! I will have up to 3 packs of crisps and a small chocolate bar a day!!!

I think it is boredom. When both boys are napping or DH is feeding DS2 and DS1 is either having a nap or playing quietly, I will go and get something to eat even if I don't feel hungry.

Any ideas? Please!!

Cut up a million carrot sticks and munch them all day - I know you don't want them initially, but they are strangely addictive and tasty..!

I do quite like carrots so that wouldn't be too bad.

I think I will stop buying crisps altogether.

Can you just not buy the snacks? I find if i KNOW theres choc/crisps in the house I literally cant stop thinking about them until I eat them.. If theres nothing in the house then I usually cannot be bothered to make a special trips to the shops specially. Or just buy healthier snacks? e.g. veg crisps/ryvita, nuts or yoghurt?

I do the same thing, Kayzr! I can't seem to walk by the kitchen without running in and putting something in my mouth. It's not always unhealthy stuff, but the point is that I eat when I'm not hungry, and all those little nibbles add up. I've tried sugarfree gum with some sucess, or even turning on the radio and singing along. Anything to keep my mouth busy. I know how hard it is...keep trying!

I'm sure this advice has ben badied around here for donkeys years but anyhoo...

Have a glass of water when you feel the 'urge' Run upstairs, get away from the kitchen, go into the garden, anything to get you out of your habitual 'Ooh the boys are asleep, now its crisp time'.

Also only YOU have the power to control YOU. Stop buying crisps. Take responsibility for your body and what you put into it.

We were buying them for DH's lunches for when he was at work but he has been laid off so we don't actually need them. I do think it is a habit I have gotten into by adding them to the shopping.

Bowl of healthy cereal instead of crisps if you need something crunchy, start getting into Sunmaid raisins as an alternative to chocolate (I know it sound sbarking but I have got rid of my choccie craving by doing this!) or Medjool dates and always keep a bowl of fresh fruit (grapes, melon wedges etc) easily accesible in the fridge so when the munchies strike you have something immediate on hand!
