gosh I know how you feel, I've been on a diet for 7 years but only the last 12 months have I finally got anywhere and lost 2 stone. Put 1/2 on over christmas and have a stone to go, gosh it's slow, have had to switch from slimming world to WW for a bit more umph and inspiration.

But we can do it, summers nearly here ..........

do you do much exercise?

Furball · 11/02/2009 06:19

I run 5k 3 x a week. although with all this snow I've only managed 1 or 2 times. I also walk 2 miles a day for school

ahh running or something else along those lines would have been my suggestion. i've always struggled with my weight, put on stones and stones with each pregnancy and even when i've been on the slim side i permanently wanted to be half a stone or so lighter.

i found doing wlr (there's a thread around here somewhere) a revelation, it's basically calorie counting but you can earn extra cals with exercise, it's a simple equation but i never worked it out for myself. it worked so well for me after dd1 and i'm back again for dd2. i have a stone or so to go but i know for sure i'll make it because i've found a system that works for me. this week i've earned myself an average of 300cals a day with exercise (walking, swimming, yoga, a tiny bit of running) which makes all the difference in being able to stick to my allowance and keep me motivated.

5k 3 x a week .

I am amazingly unfit. Spent DD1's pregnancy hunched over, hobbling and haven't really stood up since. Never had to exercise before the kids due to a very active job (really, not 'oooh, I'm always on the go, me' active). Exercising for the sake of exercising is going to be a hard habit to get into.

Can I go to SW with only a vanity 10lbs to lose?

i started the couch to 5km thread last year and away I went. tis good cos I can drop ds off at school and be home 1/2 hour later all done.

sw will have you with any weight to lose as will ww.

Exercise DVD?
I ran 3/4 times a week (I got up to 10km) and have let the habit slip due to other commitments, work, snow and um dark evenings, and being lazy!
I have started doing the new Davina Mccall DVD and have noticed a difference within a few weeks. Gets you toned up too, so you look trimmer.
Running is fab, I plan on getting my running shoes on once the evenings are lighter (my only real time to go).

oh cool furball, great you've kept it up i've just got to the end of week 2 and i'm loving it so far, although i can't imagine for a second actually being able to do the full 5k by the end!
