WW Simply filling or SW Extra Easy

I see WW have stopped the core plan but say you can use what they now call the Simply Filling technique. Looks to me to be the same as the core plan. I have heard SW Extra easy plan is similar but better. Has anyone got any opinions as I am thinking of going to SW instead.

WW is just back to points as you suspect and they've re-branded it 'discover'.

Personally (having lost 2 stone last year with SW but have switched to WW for last stone cos I was bored) SW is a better plan if you like quantity, loads of free foods, you can do red, green or extra easy, eat til you can't move and still lose weight, it really is a miracle.

WW has made me think about my choices, smaller plates (which hopefully will pay off in real life?) as points are precious so I choose wisely. Real pain weighing everything as well.

Thanks for that. I detest tracking points so think WW is not for me. I think I will switch to SW for now and maybe back to WW for the last bit like yourself if WW is no longer doing it. Very curious as to why WW no longer do the core plan.

They claim that eventually or if you don't have much to lose, people stopped losing.

SW is good and also cheaper! get a 6 or 8 week countdown

ProfYaffle · 10/02/2009 08:14

What's a 6 or 8 week countdown? I'm thinking of going on sw. Have done ww before but find the idea of returning to points horrifying tbh, such a pita. sw also seems to be most similar to how I used to eat pre dc when I was slimmer, fit and healthy.

Furball · 10/02/2009 09:48

a countdown is where you buy in advance 6 or 8 weeks and makes it a discounted rate. It's good because you have to go as you have paid and also you can set yourslf mini goals for those block of weeks.

I tried to buy one for WW and they kindly wanted me to input my bank details so they could take the next block automatically, yeah but no thanks! WW also seem to want to take more money off you by producing gadgets and expensive cookbooks. Sw cookbooks are £3 or £4

Oh I see. I was thinking of doing it by post actually, I'm horribly lazy about getting out of the house in the evening and I just know I'd end up missing meetings. Plus, an hour and a half?? Sounds excessive to me.

Furball · 10/02/2009 10:29

the start of the meeting is not the start of the meeting IYSWIM. It is the start of weigh in, and if theres a queue, you obviously have to wait. trick is to go 20 mins after that so most of the queue has died down, the talk part of the meeting is about 30 mins.

Thanks for the info Furball. I'll have to give it some thought

Hi - I've just lost my first stone with SW! Started at the end of October, and had lost 12lbs by Christmas... fell off the wagon a bit and put on 3lbs, but now have got my 1 stone sticker, and am very proud! As I type, I'm feeling completely stuffed having eaten:

three quarters of a cottage pie, with carrots, brocolli and peas, followed by strawberry muller light and a banana.

Have also put a load of jacket potato wedges in the oven, in case I feel like something to snack on later on.

The key to this diet is to be organised. If you plan in advance (like I've already done the wedges for later) then you will never, ever be hungry. You can snack on fruit and muller lights/fromage frais if you need to. Also, cooked breakfasts of eggs, bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, tomatoes and (dry)fried potatoes. All completely free. I think it's excellent because you can eat an awful lot, which is something I'm very good at!

Thanks for the inspiration Miss GB! Do you go to a club or do you do it online. I am going to struggle to get a club regularly due to DHs work.

You can go to different meetings on differing nights. Sometimes I go to friday lunch class, other weeks I go to thurs night, depends what my plans are and work etc. I'd never be able to do it on my own, I need to pay to go to class to give me the push ! I've lost 1stone 3.5lbs since end of Nov (but didn't go at all over festive period and rejoined as it worked out cheaper than paying back wks!), only another 1stone 3.5lbs to go !!

MissGreatBritain · 10/02/2009 22:21

I go to a club, and have been going with a friend, which has really helped as we can moan about it together. I go to a daytime one, as DP is always working too. They're usually quite happy for you to take children with you, I've found.
