SWIPER'S WEIGHTLOSS DIARY!!

swiperfox · 09/04/2005 09:09

Ok. I am going totally public in order to make myself actually do this and stop being pathetic!! I've set my goal date as 29th July which is my 28th birthday and we are going out over that weekend - I want to be going out in my old clothes- not squeezed ridiculously into a pair of 14's with a huge bulge over the top!!! Being overweight is making me miserable and it's time to do something about it once and for all!!

I'm going to get up before anyone else and go walking/jogging and follow the Atkins diet strictly for the next 2 weeks. Also going to try and achieve the 10,000 steps a day.

My Current Weight: 13st 8lbs
My goal weight: 10st 7lbs
Time to do it: 16 weeks

Day 1 : This morning I got up at 7 and went straight out for a fast walk. Within 5 mins I came across my 1st problem. Asthma. I'm currently being assessed for a new inhaler and forgot all about it!! Kept going though. I walked at a fast pace for 45 mins. My pedomoeter (which i think isn't too good) measured; 4086 steps, 2.7km. It's difficult as our village is only just over a mile long so generally walking round in circles!!
When i got in i had 2 sausages and mushrooms, fried, and on a small bed of mixed salad and cheese. Didn't like it! I'm not a breakfast fan but i have to organise my eating habits.
So all in all off to a good start - let's hope i can keep it up!!!

Well done sf, The main thing is your trying and you sound really determined. i wish i had your motivation.

crunchie · 18/04/2005 09:47

SF is that 1858 a day what you should be eating to lose weight? If so that's loads. As you have seen on my thread weetabix for breakfast are 129 cals, I allow 1/2 pt milk on weetabix and a couple of cups of tea. Then salad with cottage cheese, prawns, or hardboiled eggs (no carbs if poss) at lunch is usually about 200 - 300 cals. I also allow for fruit mid afternoon (up to 100 cals) and then a reaady meal (I choose ones below 350 cals) and veg (loads) for supper. Still leaves enough in my plan of 1200 (plus milk) for a pack of crispy type snacks (about 110 cals) and a pud (up to 120 cals). I am being a bit flexible, but this is Monday - Friday (unless I am in London) and since I am trying this for the long haul I have to have the odd meal out and day that is over. My attitude is that they are meaning I am probably averaging 1500 cals, but that is still good enough to lose weight.

So with 1858 you are laughing

Have just found a fantastic website... here

You type in your details, it gives you a calorie uide, has a huge calorie database, you type in what you've eaten and it tells you the calories and how many you have left, also gives you an exercise diary where you type in what you've done and it tells you what you have burned
Has given me slightly less calories - 1594. But have put in my 2 weetabix and apple juice and got loads left

crunchie · 18/04/2005 10:31

Have you signed up for a free trial??

swiperfox · 18/04/2005 10:40

yep have got 3 days free trial so have put all my details in. Looks really good and a good way for me to keep track of what i'm doing and stop eating crap!!!

It's £9 a month though.......

OP posts:
crunchie · 18/04/2005 10:43

£9 a month doesn't look too bad in the scheme of things, thats 30p a day

swiperfox · 18/04/2005 10:47

that's true actually when you think of it like that!!

OP posts:
swiperfox · 19/04/2005 13:19

Startin g to feel like someone is out to get me!! I had to turn back from my walk this morning because my feet were so painful!! On top of that I've done something to the back of my ankle - which is also bloody painful!! So I'm hobbling about like a fool just now!!!

Doing ok with the food though. Sticking to two weetabix for brekkie - which is surprisingly filling. Just had a ham and diijonaise sandwich for lunch.

Still a bit unsure about my scales. Does everyones weight fluctuate around 4-5lbs everytime they get on the scales?

OP posts:
crunchie · 19/04/2005 13:23

SF I think your scales are a bit dodgey Mine were a bit like that. I knew if I stood on them left foot first and kinda balanced just my right toe on the scales I would be AT LEAST 2lbs lighter

Finally they broke completely and it is a bit liberating living without them I have to go to the gym to weigh in and the scales are those proper Dr's ones so every 100g is weighed It is starting to wean me off hopping on the scales everyday

swiperfox · 19/04/2005 13:26

I think I might start going into boots once a week and using their height/weight machine.

Bloody scales! I've only had them 5 minutes as well!! I did wonder about them though....everywhere else i've looked my BMI is about 30 - the scales have me at anywhere between 40 and 45!!!!!!

Am getting addicted to the exercise Cant walk so wen tout cycling this morning lol did about 6 miles/40 minutes.

Will be interesting to see how that works out against the calories burned walking.

I cant believe i've not doone this before. It's ammillion times easier than i thought it would be and i feel brilliant

Not dropping huge amounts of weight though!!!

crunchie · 20/04/2005 14:57

Well done SF, bear n mind exercise is releasing all these endorphins so no wonder you feel great, it is also toning you up (muscle weighs more than fat) so you are probably losing inches if not weight

crunchie · 22/04/2005 10:10

Oy SF WHERE ARE YOU!!!!

swiperfox · 24/04/2005 09:17

Im here I didnt give up - promise!!

I went cycling on Thursday because my ankle was so painful to walk on. Cycled 5/6miles but still jurt!! So Friday I didn't go out and yesterday I didn'y go because dd had ballet at 8.30 in the morning!

However - today my feet are back to normal so i've just done my 6.5k powerwalk and feeling good again!!

I went to Boots on Friday and used their big height/weight/BMI machine. It measured me as 5'5" 13st4lbs (so my scales weren't as out as i'd hoped lol) BMI 30.9

My scales this morning weighed me at 13st1lb so I must have lost something as they started off at 13st8!

I'm still really struggling with eating properly though. I haven't been snacking, and I make sure there isn't any chocolate/biscuits/crisps/crap in the house!! Luckily dd is happy with that and will have a banana or apple instead.

This week I'm going to try having cereal for breakfast and lunch and a meal at about 5/6pm then nothing til the next morning.

OK here I am - had a reeeeaaaalllllyyy bad week!! I went last Friday to get weighed at boots and was 13st2lbs which is 2lbs better than nothing! This week has been a disaster. I haven't been walking because i have no trainers lol I finally got adidas to agree to take the bloody things back. A pathetic excuse, i know. I've also done badly with food. DP has had an excellent week at work so we have had chinese's galore! I stick mainly to lemon chicken and chow mein but i have to admit to a 1/4 crispy duck

Not looking forward to this Friday!!!!

OP posts:
MarsLady · 04/05/2005 16:56

Blimming useless you! lol. Only joking honey.

Right, it's a new day. So back on the wagon and start again!

You can do it!

swiperfox · 04/05/2005 18:32

i'll get there lol

OP posts:
swiperfox · 09/05/2005 19:58

I'm in trouble Sorry Mars

lol

I have no trainers. They broke my feet and then fell apart so they have been sent to Adidas UK in disgust!!! Hope they smell!!!!

But as soon as they send me some trainers I will be back on the road.

Have to admit that since i haven't walked every morning i feel like crap - really fat and lethargic and moody.
Am trying to still be good with food. I havenm't been bad but i haven't been good. Saying that I'm back to 13st 4 so although i'm not losing it, i'm not putting it on.
