Or has anyone done it? not with an op.If so, how?
I have such a vast amount of weight to lose it seems unachieveable. I have lost a stone so far with slimfast but that is a drop in the ocean.tried ww and sw and everything you can imagine.I just need to know it can be done and i am not just going to die still fat having led a miserable chocolate free existence.

Several friends of mine have lost amazing amounts of weight using Cambridge Diet or Lighter Life.

Most of them have kept if off too.

Expensive -LL I think £70 p week, CD £35 p week

But they are transformed

The two that fell off the maintenance wagon are the ones that put the weight back on.

You may be able to get CD on the NHS - they do in our PCT - obv areas differ in funding but worth a chat with doc ?

I have lost four stone doing my own version of Atkins/SW red/India knight - low carbing really. now weigh 11 st 10

Good luck

shivermetimbers · 28/01/2009 12:42

Cool I ill weigh in tomorrow too and let you know the dreaded weight

Well the more you have to lose the happier you'll be when you do! It's the crisps I have problems with well that and the fact that I inhale my meals so dont get a chance to touch the sieds to feel full

Hi All, I also have 5 stone to lose and have committed myself to doing it before the summer as I'm not going to go through another one with chaffed thighs .

I am not following any particular diet, just walking every day for an hour (on Day 8 at the mo and have keep it up, over 10000 steps a day )and trying to eat as healthily as poss and not beating myself up that I finished of DSs choc muffin last night!!). I have also just started Hynotherapy to find out why I got fat in the first place and looks promising. It's 60.00 per session and I will need between 3-5 sessions so should work out cheaper than LL!!

I tried LL and Cambridge and could not keep it up for more than 10 days . I really wanted a quick fix so gave up easily but have realised that if I started off slowly to start with, I could have lost the weight 10 times over the last 12 years!! Am determined not to fail this time .

shivermetimbers · 28/01/2009 18:37

good luck with the hypnotherapy. Thats not a problem for me cos i know exactly why i am fat, its genitic.
I inherited the greed and idleness genes.

Hiya!! I have a whole person in weight to loose

I have tried lots of stuff but I think we must be related, shiver..... i have the same two ngenes you have inherited.... and then some...

i will post my start weight if i can bear it later.....

I am really considering doing cambridge but it's so drastic isn't it... I have read a few CD threads on here and the weight loss is really inspiring.

lizandlulu · 29/01/2009 17:24

i dont know what the cambridge diet is

Nancy66 · 29/01/2009 17:48

No matter how big you are PLEASE don't consider any of the extremely low calorie, food replacement diets like Lighter Life or Cambridge.

They are so bad for you and totally fuck with your metabolism so that when you do go back to eating normally you pile the weight back on in record time. They can also lead to all sorts of medical complications. People have had kidney infections, hair loss, strokes etc on these diets. Put simply they are sponsored starvation.

people who have shed weight on these diets and kept it off are very rare. Most regain in half the time it took to lose the weight in the first place.

Slow and sure is the only way - sensible eating and exercise.

Shivermetimbers i don't blame you for being miserable at the prospect of a life of denial. It doesn't have to be that way though. Activity is the key to everything.

Moving your arse = eating well.

shivermetimbers · 29/01/2009 19:52

hi champs. i also have a whole person to lose and a fat one at that. And i dont mean dh.
ok i will be the brave one and reveal my shameful weight.

lizandlulu · 29/01/2009 22:25

shivermetimbers, we are all in the same boat, we can only help eachother along the way

i persoanlly struggle with deciding what to eat, i get bored easily with food, as in i will eat the same thing ofr days on end, then get fed up of it and not know what to eat, liek tuna sandwiches every day for a week, then want ot change and not know what to have. i have to take pack up for work 3 days a week.

lizandlulu · 02/02/2009 12:11

Hi all - I've been doing sw for 3 weeks and lost 13lbs Still have 5 stone to go before I'm in that 'normal' range

I've had hypnotherapy to help me on my way this time and I highly recommend it. 2 sessions £80 each, now my attitude is SO diff to that of the past. Expensive but well worth it - I've prob saved that in takeaways

Also I did LL a few years ago and lost a lot, BUT hair fell out and I felt awful. Plus it all went back on and more when I started eating again.
