Dilemma. I could have been posting this. I was overweight and then slimmed right down for my wedding nearly 10 years ago. When I look at the photos I want to cry - I look so good. Slowly slowly I crept back up and then beyong where I was. Now after children, I am not far behind you. I absolutely don't know how this has happened - I don't eat excessively at all.

I don't want to go to weight watchers as that kind of thing wouldn't work for me (I did last diet entirely alone).

I know what's wrong:

  1. I need to exercise - I never find time
  2. I need to stop snacking on sweet things
  3. I need to eat less cheese

So what about we start a club of two and lose some weight.

No one will flame you

I have lost 4 stone last year, using low carb methods ( I mixed and matched, from Atkins, Sw Red, India's book then made up my own thing really)

my tips?:

Water water water
If you are hungry have a glass of water, wait twenty minutes. Still hungry? Another glass of water, wait twenty minutes. Still hungry? Go ahead and eat.

You get used to living without bread/pasta/potaotes/rice

I was 15 st 13 now a, 11 st 10.

Good luck

I'm just not sure about denying yourself things like carbs. Although it might help initially, when you reach your desired weight you'll probably go straight back on them.

Dilemma, when I dieted the first time, I cut out cheese (God knows how) and the weight dropped off.

Erm - hello folks, room for another one?

Am addicted to cheese and sweet nibbles. Can manage to eat healthy all day and then blow it all scoffing down biscuits (eating them quickly so they don't really count, then eating another cos it did not last long enough etc etc). Also comfort eat/eat when bored. A treat a week ends up being a treat a day! My fave TV snack late at night is a bowl of chopped apple, grapes and lots of cubes of strong cheddar!

Am a size 16-18 and guess I could do to lose 3 stone. Would be happy with 2, realistically will struggle to lose 1! this has to be the year, DC growing up, youngest off to school, more time for me, think I would feel more confident if I lost the weight, so why do I never manage to stick to diet longer than a few days, then think sod it!?

DH says he loves my curves, but for my health and for the sake of the kids, feel I must do something. I hate seeing vids and photos of me, thats not how i think i look, or should look. Would rather die than go somewhere public to be weighed in and so on. Can I hang with you guys?

pickupthismess · 22/01/2009 19:24

Yes please do. I've got to be honest I don't really want to go on a diet. I find prescribed ways of eating completely impossible. What I want to do is cut out the cheese, the snacking and the goodies. I'm convinced if I do this, I can lose weight and stick to it.

Please can I join you ladies? I want to get rid of 2 stone of baby weight from a few years ago. I feel frumpy and keep promising myself that I will do something about it but fail each day. My main culprits are a complete lack of exercise, far too much cheese and bread, too little fruit and veg and water.....
I really can't bear the thought of trying to cover myself up during the heat of another summer here in the States. I want to wear nice, pretty clothes, and feel confident..... wails!

dilemma you're even worse than me. I have 3 blocks of cornish cruncher (God I love it) and a bar of choc which I know I should just chuck.

Personally, I'd just eat the stuff and resolve to walk right on by at the supermarket in future.
