Weight loss chat

A space to talk openly about weight loss journeys and challenges. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Has anyone else started their diet today and already fancies a biscuit?! Fancy joining me here for a bit of moral support?

I haven't had one though!
I will be strong! I'm basically following a weightwatchers plan but not going to money-grubbing-b'stards weightwatchers meetings. I need to lose between 1 1/2 and 2 stone I thought I might watcher Paul McKenna's I can make you think programme tonight. I tried last time it was on but it was really boring but I need to do something so I will persevere. So, anyone else out there??

Just ate a croissant - is that a diet food ????

GaspodTheWonderDog · 05/01/2009 11:16

Not technically. Did you eat it whilst out on a run? That may have helped.

I started yesterday and am feeling pretty peckish now. Just going to have a large glass of water!

OOps!

GaspodTheWonderDog · 05/01/2009 13:29

Are you following a particular diet Tessie? What are you having for your lunches? That's always my problem.

I am about to have broth and one slice of brown bread for my lunch. I am feeling fairly motivated still but know it won't last!

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 05/01/2009 13:31

I am doing WW - got 3 stone plus to lose - a combination of baby weight, and being a greedy pig . Can't afford meetings either and my points calculator is broken, so probably guesstimating wrong anyway...I'll support you

norksinmywaistband · 05/01/2009 15:44

can I join have 3/4 of a stone to lose as cannot afford new clothes and don't fit into the ones I have

I am doing weightwatchers as am a gold member thingy so as long as I lose 5 lbs in the first week I won't have to pay - don't think that is likely, but it is definately motivation to lose that first 5lb.

Ashantai · 05/01/2009 16:14

Good on you for not giving in .

Unfortunately my willpower is still pissed and hasnt turned up for work today, lazy bastard!!. I'm gonna try to make up for my mince pie and squirty cream madness, with a jacket spud with tuna and salad for dinner.

My problem is that i have got so used to having pudding after dinner due to xmas, that i'm finding it hard not to have something sweet.

happynewRia · 05/01/2009 16:29

I want one but haven't had one...yet

SW here, still deciding about meetings. Am on a red day today. so not much snacking potential.

It would be really silly to do the boys par-baked rolls to go with casserole wouldn't it?

lilianfox · 06/01/2009 00:37

Good evening ladies

I'd like to join you! I'm gonna start tomorrow morning as I've already fallen at the first hurdle today and gave into my cravings! Gaspod did you watch paul mckenna?

I want to lose about 3/4 stone.

GaspodTheWonderDog · 06/01/2009 11:06

Morning all!
Didn't manage want to watch Paul Mckenna, will try later!
How has everyone done this morning? I've managed to stick to good breakfast (special K, skimmed milk and handful of raspberries..yum!) and so far no biscuits (have been working all morning so that helps, no eating because I'm bored!)
If anyone else is WW I had this for tea last night www.deliaonline.com/recipes/oven-baked-smoked-pancetta-and-leek-risotto,1080,RC.html I used 100g of rice for me and dh. Didn't use any butter, just spray oil (you don't need butter, pancetta gives off lots of fat) and 10 slices of pancetta (4 for top, 6 in the risotto) and it was approx 6 points and absolutely delicious!

Ashantai - I'm exactly the same about that after dinner sugar fix. Some good tips are:

Pkt of iced gems 1 1/2 points
pkt of children's popcorn from M &S 1/2 point
Rich tea biscuits 1/2 point each
Nairns oatbiscuits (ginger, spiced or fruit) 1 1/2 points for 2

Hope those help
Sugar is my HUGE weakness

Hi there!

Is anyone still around? I've had a good couple of days on the WW plan. Since admitting to the ww quiz that I put on several Ibs over xmas and new year my points allowance has been reduced to 22! .

Anyway thanks for those ideas Gaspodthewonderdog. I am going to follow your link and have a look. always looking for new ideas for meals. i do like the snack a jack bags of popcorn you can get as well for 1/2 point.

How is everyone doing?
