I want to try and lose half a stone by xmas eve. Figured that will give me a bet of extra room to eat loads over xmas week

Would love to, do you have a magic wand tho?

SpinningEm · 07/12/2008 19:07

Gor count me in! I've got big plans to start 'proper' diet in New Year but to hepl over x-mas to shift 1/2 stone would be ace! Think I need to have no wine between now & x-mas & that should help me!

nappyaddict · 07/12/2008 22:58

Think I'm not going to do a particular diet as such. My plan is to

A) Only snack on fruit/veg/natural yogurt
B) Try to not eat anything after about 5pm (may have to stretch this a little bit cos don't always manage to have dinner at 5pm)
C) Drink 3 litres of water a day
D) Eat lots of jacket potato/salad/rice type dinners

Nappyaddict - I have been doing the following for a fortnight and have lost 6lbs:

  1. Drink 2-3 cups of hot water per day.
  2. Replace all other juice/squash type drinks with water.
  3. Only have a maximum of 2 cups of tea/coffee per day.
  4. Eat all meals of a small desert plate hence smaller portions.
  5. Have bread only once a day. i.e. If you eat toast for brekky have salad etc for lunch.
  6. Replace all snacks with fruit.
  7. Try to do 30mins of exercise a day even if it is only walking.
Don't know whether this will help you but just thought I would pass this on as it has worked for me. Good Luck.

Is hot water better than cold water then?

Do you cut out the tea/coffee because of the milk and sugar cos I have my coffee black anyway.

I don't eat bread anyway so that one's easy.

I have been eating all my meals on our smallest dinner plate which is about 9 inches. How big are you desert plates?

Jacket potatoes are a disaster according to Jason Vale, it makes a lot of sense because it's basically mashed potatoe which has a really high GI liquid sugar.

MABS · 08/12/2008 13:14

just had ryvita and tuna , that ok isn't it? did hour of aerobics, drunk i litre water so far.

Fimbles5 · 08/12/2008 19:16

Hi Nappyaddict - My desert plates are 9 inches too!! but I try not to overfill them. I am informed (by a friend) that hot water is more of a cleansing drink, supposedly great for the metabolism and does wonders long term for the skin (how much of that is true I am not sure) but have been giving it a go anyway. I have always suffered with bad spots and I must admit my face does seem noticeably clearer but that could also be due to the fact I have avoided all chocolate for a fortnight (pats own back as real achievement for me!!) As for tea and coffee, I have just been replacing these to attempt to up my water intake as I find it hard to drink the recommended amount in one day. I am amazed that you don't eat bread and would love to hear of some menu ideas that I could try to replace it as this is what I find the hardest. What do you put in a packed lunch??

susananne · 08/12/2008 21:18

After last xmas I weighed 13 stone and now after gyms, swimming and cutting the crap out I am know between 11.3- 11.5.

But what is it with xmas time, the will power is dwindling and I am eating the chocs at work and feeling guilty after and unable to stop feeling cross at the poor will power after a year of hard work.

I only had a stone to loose to get to my altermate goal.

nappyaddict · 08/12/2008 23:37

Fimbles - i don't really eat packed lunches but my dad doesn't eat bread either and he takes salad, pasta, rice, potato salad, a big fruit salad or crackers to work. oh and sometimes he takes soup in a thermos if he can be arsed.

Hi there,

If I'm not too late then I'd like to join you. I joined one of these threads last year and lost 6lbs so am hoping to do the same again.

I normally hover at the 9st mark on the scales. I get to 9st and cut back for a few days and go back down to 8st 10/11lbs but I've gone a bit chocolate mad for about three weeks and am now 9st 7lbs. I know this isn't terribly heavy but I had got down to eight and a half stone so have gained one of the stones that I'd lost so I'm a bit cross with myself.

Just haven't been able to resist eating chocolate. Not just a chocolate biscuit here and there either but big bars of Toblerone.

Anyway, there's two weeks left till Christmas so 5lbs off isn't an unrealistic target.

So far today I've had a bite of my DS3s toast and a tin of rhubarb. Won't have any lunch as I'm out to dinner tonight (Chinese restaurant) and will try to choose low fat dishes.

Eating has felt a bit out of control lately but feel more positive today that I can get back on track.

How's everyone else doing today?

nappyaddict · 10/12/2008 15:48

Today I've just had a bowl of soup and some fruit.

Down to 9st 3lbs this morning!

I've managed to avoid chocolate and have eaten lots of tinned fruit. Wasn't at all well yesterday so I think that's contributed to weight loss.

I know that I haven't lost 4lbs of fat since Wednesday and it's mostly fluid but it's definitely a morale boost to see the scales going down.

How's everyone else doing?

nappyaddict · 13/12/2008 17:43

Is it good to lose fluids?

How much do you have to lose before you start losing fat?
