I have sent in my application to do next years Moonwalk, my mother is getting me a treadmill for christmas so here is hoping that weight will start going again soon.

RGPargy · 24/10/2008 13:29

Five - remind me of what the moonwalk is please?

RGPargy · 24/10/2008 13:29

Isn't it a long sponsored walk at night or something?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/10/2008 13:50

That's the one a walking marathon starting at midnight, me, my sister and a friend.

RiallyEeRiaee · 24/10/2008 19:04

my sis was on that obesity drug they withdrew yesterday. anyone know what it was called, I want to google it.

RiallyEeRiaee · 24/10/2008 19:09

I am scared. I am controlling my urge to snack constantly until bedtime. I think I may be feeling the fear

jaz236 · 24/10/2008 20:04

Oh i see,are they the same tabs that Pink has been taking and Rg has??? Pink has done really well on the tablets shes on,but im a bit scared of the side effects - and at the mo my bambino is not sleeping very well and hes getting on my nerves at night and i dont want to be really vile to him on these tabs?

keep thinking abt what frazzle did with those crisps, licking them and watching them turn into a mound of gunk!

jaz236 · 24/10/2008 20:04

by the way do we start a new thread as this ones getting to big? how do u know when its getting toooooo big> like myself ha x

jaz236 · 24/10/2008 20:26

by the way fivegomad - i have a treadmill and its the best thing i ever bought its fab, i go on it and watch dvd's on it - not been on it for sometime since baby was born, but the weather has been ok to take baby for walks so havent been on it but best thing you could ever get xxx -ps - dont get the carl lewis one as they are rubbish!!

RiallyEeRiaee · 24/10/2008 20:36

I think we can have 1000 posts, so no need just yet.

I blame space and kids that don't go to bed early for my lack of exercise. I plan to work on this when DH is back at work and out of the way on an evening.

countPINKCHICKula · 24/10/2008 21:10

PMSL laughing at Rg, your sooo much like me the way you 'speak' straight to the bone...Ria - Just sit on the loo when you eat your curry - two jobs in one!! ...LOL

Well done D..i mean Ria ..hope youve had a good day, when you do, its really gets you intot he swing of things.

Ria is on diff tabs than me (RG 'was' on same as me, but had side effects)..i dont get side effects from mine touch wood, i did have dry mouth first few weeks and got hot quicker but thats it!..i heart reductil..BUT dp been off today and been 'doing the rounds ' with me (while ive been working, hes been doing pick ups and drop offs with me and mindees/dd), although he has realised how much work and walking i do, we also apssed akers and got iced cakes for..aherm..kids and a small 'yorkshire pizza' for me...i erm..may have had to try one of the cakes..aherm..cough.....big knickers tomorrow night then! LOL

RiallyEeRiaee · 24/10/2008 21:29

sorry to be dim Pink, but what is Yorkshire Pizza? (and I should bloody know that)

if anything these tabs are sending me "the other way" if you get me, am dreading sudden side effect. How low fat are breadsticks? needing a snack but scared of what I can have!

RGPargy · 24/10/2008 21:58

Jaz - those diet pills they've withdrawn aren't the same as the ones pink is taking (and me, for 3 days), they are something different but i didn't quite hear what they were called, although it deffo wasn't Reductil.

Ria - dont be scared to eat anything! you wont poo yourself and as long as you're at home, you can experiment on what stuff makes you "go" more than others!! Honestly, you wont be running up the stairs to the loo with fatty poo running down your legs!!

i'd like to know what Yorkshire Pizza is too! In this house we have Poor Man's pizza, which is just a slice of bread, grilled on one side, then on the ungrilled side we put tomato puree and cheese on top. Et voila!

RiallyEeRiaee · 24/10/2008 22:00

I think, I am sort of experimenting and keeping a food diary for a day or two, then deciding what action to take re food management

RGPargy · 24/10/2008 22:03

I think it's just common sense really Ria. if you eat a big fat burger and chips, for example, you are likely to be needing the loo () whereas if you eat something lean then you'll be fine!

RiallyEeRiaee · 24/10/2008 22:14

that was my thinking too RG. I have done very well today though really, just need a couple of days to get used to the idea and I'm sure it'll be fine. TBH (and I did tell the GP this) I don't eat a lot of extra fat, having grown up with my DM doing Rosemary Conley from me being 9/10 onwards, the low fat way is kind of natural. I am a bit liberal with marg/ low fat clover type stuff on bread (when I eat bread on it's own, not too bad for sarnies), but I usually dry fry and grill, don't eat fat/skin on meat (except crispy bacon fat), I always drain mince afer browning, it's the "hidden fats" that will cause me problems.

I am hoping that "a little (ie controlled) bit of what I fancy" and "all things in moderation" will be a better approach as I won't feel deprived so won't be tempted to rebel and binge. Apart from wine of course, the GP said that has no fat...

Oh bugger, losing weight is SO confusing. I think I've changed my stance a million times since I joined this thread

RGPargy · 24/10/2008 22:45

My mum was the same, Ria. She was low carbing from when i was young - i think it was something like 10g of carbs a day way back then (!!!).

I like to use olive oil when i fry but when i do occasionally have mince (i.e. never) i do drain off the fat too and dont eat the skin on meats either.

I deffo think that a little of what you fancy does you no harm too. Tonight, for example, DP and I have had our usual "Seven Pound Special" from the Chinese. It's not really chinese but we had mushroom omelette, egg fried rice, curry sauce & chips between us and we both really enjoyed it because it's a once a week or so treat. Doesn't mean that we're going to eat it every night tho!

your GP has obviously got his head screwed on right if he's telling you there's no fat in wine. What a good GP!!

RiallyEeRiaee · 25/10/2008 10:01

yum RG

still no dodgy side effects

jaz236 · 25/10/2008 18:49

well good luck Riallyeeriaee -hmmmmmmmmmm thats a long name my dear!!

RiallyEeRiaee · 25/10/2008 22:18

tis my halloween name jaz, am bored with it now.

RGPargy · 26/10/2008 00:10

I think you should go with a more apt name - like diaRia!

jaz236 · 26/10/2008 10:20

wel i was chatting with my pal last night and she put 2 stone on after having baby and she has now lost the weight and wearing a sexy sort tight dress for the xmas party - gawd! Im so jealous!!

RiallyEeRiaee · 26/10/2008 12:24

of your friend jaz.

still no "side effects " here. What do you think that means? I aren't eating enough fat, I'm just right and it's working without me knowing, or it's too soon to tell?

My mum is dead chuffed I've been to the GP and asked for help. Bless her.

can't change my name just now, on of my chums on PN has a poorly DD with said complaint

was thinking Riallybigbang (similar meaning but for bonfire night)

RGPargy · 26/10/2008 20:44

Jaz - of your mate!!

Ria - not sure what it means! When is your next appointment with the GP?

Well i went to look at a gym on Friday (LA Fitness). It was very nice and the price wasn't too bad for a London gym (£47.50 for the month) and it means that i can use any other LA Fitness gym too. There's one close to my area so it wouldn't be too difficult to drive there in 10 minutes at the weekend!

I really want to join it but the thing i'm worried about is losing interest after a couple of weeks and then paying all that money for a whole year for nothing! I so desperately want to get back into the gym thing tho, particularly with classes. They even have a pool and do aqua aerobics in there on a Friday lunchtime. if i joined i'd be able to book up my lunchtime classes a week in advance and on Weds i'd do Step, Thurs would be Body Pump and Friday would be either aqua or some cardio/weights in the gym. they have some good classes at my local gym on a saturday too so the chances are i'd like to go there on a saturday morning for a good work out.

DP did comment on perhaps going to the local leisure centre but it means that i'm going to have to go in teh evenings, which means i lose valuable chilling out time and by the time i get home from the gym it'd be bed time! I'd much rather do classes at lunchtime because then when you get home from work, all your stuff for the day is done!

ooo sorry, this has turned into a bit of a essay!

RiallyEeRiaee · 26/10/2008 21:11

I don't know aboput gyms RG. Your DH has a point about leisure centres as don't you pay as you go so you wouldn't waste money if you didn't, but also see your point about time? Does your local leisure centre have weekend classes, and could you do swimming at lunchtimes somewhere near work? Would spending the membership money keep you committed?
I can only ask silly questions because I couldn't do organised exercise that many times in a week and I couldn't afford it. Is it something you've done before? Can you do a months trial and see how it goes or do you have to sign up for a full membership straight away?

phew, 20 questions or what!

I see my GP in a month. Feel less bloated tonight, but have a stinking cold (again) so haven't been as careful today as I have been so tomorrow might be fun, but if I was bloated after being careful
