Started with WW's today and forgot I'm out with work tomorrow for an indian. Can anyone suggest some dishes that wont blow my weekly points allowance in one sitting?

Thanks

dahl is fairly good I think as it's lentils.

Indian's not partic good with WW though if I remember rightly.

'Dry' dishes are probably your best bet. soemthing like a chicken shishlak (the kebab one) and about 4 grains of rice . or have it with salad instead of naan/rice.

Hi Susie,

I'm following Weight Watchers too but quite regularly eat out at Indian restaurants as some of the dishes are quite low in points. Chinese food is generally much higher.

I tend to have a couple of poppadoms which I think are 1.5 points each with the dry onion relish followed by either tandoori chicken starter (chicken quarter) which is 3 points or chicken tikka starter (four pieces) which are 1 point each so four points.

Then I share a portion of plain boiled rice which is 3 points for the half portion with the chicken shashlik (not sure how that's spelt) which is quite a dry dish of chicken, onion and green peppers and that's 6 points. Then I'm a bit cheeky and pinch a spoonful of someone elses sauce (No idea of the true points but I count it as one) to dip the chicken in.

Our local Indian restaurant has a lovely lemon sorbet on the menu so I always have one of those. I don't know the points of this but as it's only flavoured ice it can't be too high. It's definitely much lower in points than ice cream or cake though.

Hope this helps

tandoori chicken is best I think (but am not ww expert)

Amandoh · 02/07/2008 19:24

Yes tandoori chicken is a good choice. 6 points for a portion of tandoori chicken as a main meal.

Hi again,

Just thought I'd add the points of some dishes that you might want to avoid...

Meat samosas are 6.5 points each.
Onion bhajees are 6 points each.

Chicken and prawn korma are both 21 points and lamb korma is a whopping 23!

Chicken tikka masala is 21 points as is chicken biryani and chicken dopiaza is 20.

The points for the naan breads are a bit scary too...
Plain naan is 8 points.
Peshwari naan is 11.
Keema naan is 14!
Chapatis are 5 points each.

Don't forget to include the points of any dips you might have...
Lime pickle is 1 point per teaspoon and mango chutney is half a point per teaspoon.
