Weight loss gripes

Ive lost 6 stone on GLP1's. Im 64.
Before weight loss I was reasonably sociable and had a great sense of humor.
Now I seem to have completely lost my sense of humor and become a hermit.
I also look like a punctured balloon. My previously 36 DD chest is now 34 B and I just look skinny without any womanly curves.
I wasn't expecting to look and feel like this.
I was booked in for a facelift in Lithuania but cant have it because I cant get my iron levels up high enough.
Im wondering if anyone else just feels deflated after weight loss? Maybe going to the gym and doing weights would help?

You have done amazing, I am jealous.

Yes do some weights and see if you feel better. I am going to look up some weights on you tube as important as we age.

You have done amazingly to lose so much weight. Could you focus on how that will change your life and your future?

if your vitamin D levels are low, would it be worth making a GP appt to have full bloods done?

Why do you feel you have lost your sense of humour? What about your life has changed? Are you still seeing friends, going out?

It’s a big adjustment. You no longer look or feel like your old self. And it can become your personality- in that people seem to just focus on your loss as if that’s the only thing you are about. Is that happening?
Getting fitter and more toned will help in several ways. You will get more in touch with how your body looks/feels/responds now; you will feel more in control; you will see some changes. Loose skin will shrink a bit, how much you have depends on genetics as much as anything.
Can’t comment on your surgery - that’s not something I could do myself.
But embrace how you look. Get out in nature. Reconnect with friends and steer conversations away from your loss and on to new things you hope to do.

Are you saying you’ve not been working out and exercising as you’ve lost the weight, if not I’m sorry but what were you thinking. The loss of muscle as we age is a severe issue and it is well known we need tk exercise and eat enough protein when we diet,

so start immediately and get into body recomp, eat a min of 1.5g of protein for every kg of body weight every day, take creatine and work out, a mix of cardio and strength, with about 70 percent strength,

I wasnt able to work out at all while I lost weight because I spent a year and a half in bed unable to move waiting for complex orthopaedic surgery. I decided to get the weight off during that time to avoid any further complications.
Now Ive had my surgery and Im well enough to start going to the gym and go back to work.
I have a lot of muscle wastage as you can imagine. Luckily I dont have swathes of skin hanging off. I just look kind of deflated.
I think the muscle wastage has contributed to my somewhat anorexic appearance.
Ive joined a gym where you can have a personal trainer supervise progress.
It was really the 18 months in bed that finished me off. I live alone, had to work from home and didnt see anyone. It was a bit like being in solitary confinement.

Ah ok that’s a drip feed yes 18 months in bed will have major muscle loss, well over and above the weight loss itself.

did you not get recommended physio on how to rebuild?

Absolutely nothing. I had to pay for an iron infusion to qualify for my surgery as GP refused to refer me to haematology and zero physio was offered during times I could actually do it so I paid for that as well.
Bearing in mind this palaver almost cost me my job so I did not dare to take the piss with having time off.
Anyway with sheer will power I managed to get myself well so I just need some strength training now to improve my match stick legs.
I live on my own so its been tough but Im getting there.

@Gettingbysomehow well done loosing the weight, especially in the situation you have had with reduced mobility, increasing your exercise with some simple stretching and resistance training using bands, plus some weights can be done at home or in the gym as you might find joining in with fellow enthusiasts who have the same goals of increasing activity and fitness might be enjoyable. Low iron can make you feel pretty grim as can lots of other deficiencies like B12, vitamin D and zinc. I lost just over 8stone and take quite a few supplements now as I really do feel the benefits, I am a similar age (62) it’s hard coming to terms with the changes that kind of weight loss caused but I am very fit now and don’t have high blood pressure, I can run around, be busy all day and always feel full of energy. I enjoy clothes shopping and being a size 12 , I think I’ve probably extended my life expectancy by several years which means everything to me as I will see my grandchildren grow into adulthood. It takes time to transition into seeing all the positive aspects but you will get there. Enjoy your new life, you’ve worked hard for it 🥰
