Can someone explain to me how to do the second dose? I can't find any videos and find the instructions really confusing

Exactly the same as the first. Prep the pen first and then turn the dial right until it says 1 on it.

Chaostheory12 · 10/10/2026 23:04

Thanks. I don't need to prime it though?

Yes you prime it and then turn it right round to 1 afterwards.

As the others have said, you just follow the paper instructions step by step exactly as you did the first time. It's not any different.

The priming is checking the needle . They are very thin and easily bent. Last thing you want is trying to depress the plunger with a blocked needle, this can damage the pen.
So as long as you see liquid at the end of the needle that is primed.. if not 1 or 2 clicks then press.. you need to see a dot of liquid. Then crack on, twist to 1 and inject..

I thought it only needed to be primed before the first dose though.

You prime every time. Just do exactly the same as the first one. You prime the fresh needle each time.

No, that's the instructions for the Wegovy pen. The Mounjaro pen instructions say to prime each time. As @morbidcuriosity has explained, when you attached a new needle, you need to make sure it's attached properly and not blocked. The way to do that is to see a drop of liquid appear at the end of the needle. Sometimes that happens immediately when you attach the needle. If not, then you need to prime by turning 1 or 2 clicks and depressing the pen until a bit of liquid emerges. The instructions simplify it by stating to turn two clicks each time you prime.

If you don't prime and the needle isn't attached properly, it can fully break the internal mechanism and wreck the pen if you then try to inject. I have commented on several threads where people have done exactly that.

Priming ensures the needle is on right, you need to do it every time.

Thank you that's really helpful

Ive seen pictures of pens with the red bung bloated like bunged out because they tried to depress the plunger with a dud needle and this then wrecks the pen.. as long as you see a drop of liquid your good.. if no drop, click 1 click and see.. should be good..
