10lbs on over the summer after reaching target in June 🙈 Anyone want to join me in getting back to a healthy BMI and then maintaining!

I'm so frustrated with myself. I worked so hard for literally years (on and off) to finally get to my goal weight of 9st 12lb in June. And what have I done? Completely sabotaged myself over the summer by bingeing, secret eating, not so secret eating, avoiding the gym, avoiding the scales and just generally making "fuck it" choices. Anyway, as a result I've gained nearly a stone and I am back to being overweight 😭 This is a pattern that has repeated again and again over my adult life. I can lose weight, but really struggle to maintain. I have been everywhere between 18st and 9.5st over the last 20 years and really don't want to be moving back to obesity. I am 42 on Saturday and more than anything just want to be healthy and confident as I get older.

So the long and short of it is I want to lose 10lbs, so that I am safely back in a helathy weight bracket and then stay there! So if anyone is up for the journey with me and some shared accountability and support please do join me.

I am going to do a weigh in every Wednesday.

Starting weight: 07/09/26: 10st 7lbs
Goal Weight: 9st 12lb

I've had a better day today. Just got back from a nice walk with my friend and have eaten sensibly today and having chilli for dinner.

I just need to get through the evening without being pulled to the cereal cupboard and I'll be back on track.

Every other week my husband works nights and it is so much harder to refrain from evening snacking when nobody can see you!

You can do it! Every time you fancy eating, postpone it by 15 mins. Delay not deny?

you can post here.

im totally off track today as im not well, cant seem to focus on healthy eating whilst in the depths of a horrible migraine

DiscombobulatedHedgehog · 23/09/2026 17:57

Hey @beetlebum84 can I join you? I could have written your OP myself. I’m really kicking myself. I got down to 8st and had so much energy but imagine I’m at least 10 stone 7 now…I’ve been avoiding the scales tbh.

beetlebum84 · 23/09/2026 18:59

Thank you @Snowcanwait I'm usually pretty good at having a cup of tea when the cravings for snacking creeps in, but I like the delay not deny method, so thank you. I hope you are feeling better soon. Migraines are the worst.

Of course you can join @DiscombobulatedHedgehog( I love your username!). It's so frustrating isn't it! Why do we all do it? Get to a place where we feel good about ourselves and healthy and then just undo all the hard work!

Okay, braved the scales morning and held strong yesterday. So a day late, but Wednesday weigh-in....10st 1.8lbs. A small loss but not bad following a binge on Tuesday.

Mini goal of getting under 10st 1lb and into a helathy BMI continues this week....

Target weight: 9st 12lbs
Starting weight: 10st 7lbs
09/09/26: 10st 4lbs
16/09/26: 10st 2.4lbs
24/09/26: 10st 1.8lbs

Hi all.
Those readings are great.

I have an oat box not a cereal cupboard - I won’t have it in the house or I just eat the box!

I am 12.1 this week which I am happy with. I did a few days of over 20000 steps and am really happy with that. Also was out last night and had two starters and a shared bread when would normally have had a while bread and additional main too so am keeping up with the better choices. Am really wanting a stone off - well in my bmi and a weight I haven’t been in years.

beetlebum84 · 26/09/2026 10:00

Well done @Bromatic sounds like you are doing really well. I find eating out so hard because I don't want waste the opportunity to have something delicious! 😂

And well done on 20,000 steps! I always try to do 10,000 if I can and that's hard enough! I definitely think walking makes a big difference though. I was stuck at 11 stone something for ages last year and when I got my Garmin watch for Christmas and started walking regularly the last stone and a half finally budged. (Although obviously trying to lose some of that again!).

I have a quietish weekend, but have the in laws over for Sunday roast tomorrow. Going to try and make sensible choices, but I know my MIL will bring me apple crumble and custard! 🤤

Hope everyone is doing well and has a lovely weekend 😊

Well hold the well dones - it went very wrong yesterday but I guess once a big box of popcorn and multiple slices of cake and a meal out would have been routine and now at least it felt like a blow out!

beetlebum84 · 27/09/2026 19:35

The well dones stand. It's a blip rather than an every day thing and that's progress. One day doesn't undo all the healthy choices and actions you've been working so hard to put in place.

I've eaten way too much crumble and way too many roast potatoes today, but I've walked both days and know that tomorrow is a new day. We can do this. Progress, not perfection 😊

Bromatic · 27/09/2026 21:03

Like that mantra …and roast potatoes.

beetlebum84 · 30/09/2026 07:13

Ahh, I'm so frustrated! 2lb gained this week! 😭

I don't know if it's my body catching up with my binge last week, hormones, stress or what!? But I honestly haven't been off track this week. I've continued to eat sensibly and walked every day. So annoying, when it's tiny, tiny steps down each week and then WHAM! here's 2lbs back! 🥴

Target weight: 9st 12lbs
Starting weight: 10st 7lbs

09/09/26: 10st 4lbs
16/09/26: 10st 2.4lbs
24/09/26: 10st 1.8lbs
30/09/26: 10st 3.8lbs 😭

Hope everyone is having more success than me this week xx

How you doing now - I went up by a couple of pounds then came back down - water retention I think. Hope yours was the same. Am at 12 stone now so going slowly in the right direction.

beetlebum84 · 02/10/2026 22:39

Well done @Bromaticyou're nearly out of the 12s!

I was slightly down this morning at 10st 3lbs, but still not really budging. I don't see how it can be actual gained fat, because I have been mostly sticking to plan with both food and exercise. I'm trying to trust the process and accept there will be fluctuations, but I'm feeling impatient!

Don't have much planned for the weekend so hoping this will help!

OP posts:
Bromatic · 03/10/2026 08:40

i think patience is key and it’s harder where you are and easier where I am!

I am excited to leave the 12s. It is a long time since I have seen 11..

The job change has worked. Better hours and down time. Step count is staying up and I feel good. Eating so much better. Can’t remember my last family bag of crisps! I have been walking past that Asda family bag of assorted prawn cocktail like a good ‘un!

beetlebum84 · 03/10/2026 09:24

That's great @Bromaticit just shows you how much our lifestyle choices are impacted by work, stress, time (or lack of it!). I'm glad you have found more balance.

I'm slowly creeping back down. 10st 2.8lbs this morning. I know I probably shouldn't weigh daily, but I can't help myself! Wednesday is my official weigh in day, so hopefully I can get myself back to where I was by then! 🤞 🙏

I’m not doing very well. Still not feeling 100% - I think I’m on week 4 of this cold/virus thing and it’s not shifting. Put on a lb last week. Still optimistic that I can lose half a stone before Christmas, but may need to change tack.

beetlebum84 · 03/10/2026 09:40

Oh gosh, @KitschIntoKitchen sorry to hear you're still unwell. Definitely focus on getting better first and I'm sure you'll still be able to meet your Christmas target xx

OP posts:
beetlebum84 · 07/10/2026 07:02

So, I don't know what an earth happened last week, but I'm back down to 10st 1lb today 😊2.8lbs down.
I haven't really done anything different, so I'm guessing it's all just normal fluctuations.

I'm literally sitting at the top end of my bmi. Just need to lose a fraction of a lb and I will officially be back in a healthy weight bracket. Fingers crossed that comes this week and I don't have another leap up in the wrong direction!

Target weight: 9st 12lbs
Starting weight: 10st 7lbs
09/09/26: 10st 4lbs
16/09/26: 10st 2.4lbs
24/09/26: 10st 1.8lbs
30/09/26: 10st 3.8lbs 😭
07/10/26: 10st 1lb

Hope everyone is having a good week xx

That’s great. Bodies are weird!

I am at 11.13 today so have broke the 12! I can see the difference which is nice. I am 8lbs away from being within my BMI healthy weight.

Am just aiming for 1-2lbs a week and will keep going. While I have been more active I haven’t really started any exercise program so I suppose that’s the next thing to add in.

KitschIntoKitchen · 08/10/2026 08:04

Morning @beetlebum84 . Well done on the 2.8lb loss this week. Very impressive.
Im feeling a bit better in myself, although still have this hacking cough. Was pleasantly surprised when I stood on the scales today. Now 9’13, which is 3lbs down from my original weigh in ( still 7lbs heavier than earlier in the summer!). Pleased to be back in the 9’s. Went back to the gym this week and am planning a couple of hikes in the next couple of weeks. Determined to get back to 9’7 before Christmas.

Bromatic · 08/10/2026 10:41

Wow you have done well even though you have been poorly - always makes me eat more!

Hope the cough goes soon too.

beetlebum84 · 08/10/2026 14:51

Well done @Bromatic and @KitschIntoKitchen both into the next stone bracket! Amazing! Hopefully I'll see a 9 soon!

Don't think I can count it as a 2.8lb loss really, just my body resetting itself (although I am relieved it came back down!). There seems to be lots of hormonal weirdness going on one way or another as I move further into my 40s, so trying to take things with a pinch of salt.

How is everyone getting along?
I am chugging away. At 11.11lbs now which is actually lighter than I have been for the best part of a decade. It feel’s sustainable this time and I am eating healthily (mostly) and moving more. Going to focus on the exercise more and do some yoga and weights but am walking about 12-16000 steps most days and feeling much healthier. Thanks for the encouragement here.

OriginalSkang · 13/10/2026 18:30

After a set back, because of illness and comfort eating, I am now back in the game

I have been told by my GP that my HDL cholesterol is low, so I'm healthy eating from this point on

Starting weight: 12st
Previous weigh in: 11st 10lb
Current weight: 11st 10lb
Goal: 10st

Bromatic · 13/10/2026 19:50

Glad you are back on it:)

I am just cooking some things from my giant veg box - helps with the healthy eating!

Apple crumble is a health food right?

beetlebum84 · 13/10/2026 21:58

Well done @Bromatic and @OriginalSkang sounds like you are both doing well 👏

I'm doing okay and also (mostly) eating healthily and getting my steps in too. However feeling very bloated with my period at the moment, so not confident that the scales will be my friend tomorrow morning 🙈 We will see! I feel like I'm never going to see a 9 on the scales again. Every time I'm nearly there it jumps back up again 😭
