10lbs on over the summer after reaching target in June 🙈 Anyone want to join me in getting back to a healthy BMI and then maintaining!

beetlebum84 · 07/09/2026 12:57

I'm so frustrated with myself. I worked so hard for literally years (on and off) to finally get to my goal weight of 9st 12lb in June. And what have I done? Completely sabotaged myself over the summer by bingeing, secret eating, not so secret eating, avoiding the gym, avoiding the scales and just generally making "fuck it" choices. Anyway, as a result I've gained nearly a stone and I am back to being overweight 😭 This is a pattern that has repeated again and again over my adult life. I can lose weight, but really struggle to maintain. I have been everywhere between 18st and 9.5st over the last 20 years and really don't want to be moving back to obesity. I am 42 on Saturday and more than anything just want to be healthy and confident as I get older.

So the long and short of it is I want to lose 10lbs, so that I am safely back in a helathy weight bracket and then stay there! So if anyone is up for the journey with me and some shared accountability and support please do join me.

I am going to do a weigh in every Wednesday.

Starting weight: 07/09/26: 10st 7lbs
Goal Weight: 9st 12lb

Well done @iamyourequal 👏 sounds like you're doing really well.

I've felt particularly hungry today too. There's something about autumn drawing in that makes me crave stodge! Plus, I think I'm at that pre-period ravenous stage of my cycle!

I haven't been too bad though. I've stuck to plan and kept up with exercising. Wednesday weigh in tomorrow, so fingers crossed it will be worth it!

Wednesday weigh-in and just over 1.5lbs down.

Not too bad considering it's been my birthday. My first mini goal is to get back under 10st 1lb so that I am back to having a healthy bmi.

Target weight: 9st 12lbs
Starting weight: 10st 7lbs
09/09/26: 10st 4lbs
16/09/26: 10st 2.4lbs

Congratulations on your loss @beetlebum84 ! I don’t think I’d manage that after birthday celebrations 😆 how was your day?….and everyone else?

Ive stuck to a v healthy 1250 calories today and had a long walk as it’s my day off - I did some housework and a little gardening too.

I am hungry, going to bed soon so that I don’t eat or drink anything I shouldn’t….i licked the icecream scoop earlier on its way to the sink. That 5ml of icecream was the nicest thing I’ve eaten in over 3 days. 😂 I will need to build in a treat for tomorrow else I’m going to fail again.

beetlebum84 · 17/09/2026 12:17

Well done @iamyourequal sounds like you are doing really well.

I had a pretty good day yesterday, I also went for a walk, which helped clear my head after work.

Your ice cream comment made me laugh 🤣 I'd definitely add in some small or healthy treats. I find that if I restrict things too much or feel starving all the time, I end up falling of the rails. I have a caramel protein yoghurt and usually something like a pack go ahead biscuits. Probably not the perfect choice but it makes me feel like I've had something nice and staves off the desire for junk!

I’d like to join please. I hit a low weight of 8st 2lb after a year of healthy eating in February and it’s all gone wrong since with overeating and binge eating which I hadn’t done for years and years😢

I’ve remained consistent with exercise and meals are healthy but I’m snacking loads and have been eating sweets daily. I’m over a stone up and want to lose 7lb’s.

im not ready to get back on the scales yet but would like to use this thread for accountability.

I’ve been to the gym this morning and I’ll be having a walk shortly. Exercise isn’t the issue, I walk 60 miles a week on average and strength train but it’s the eating.

It helps to know I’m not alone, I feel ashamed to be honest that I’ve done it again, up yo dieting🫣

beetlebum84 · 17/09/2026 13:42

Oh course you can join @Doyouthinktheyknow. I am so saddened to hear that you feel ashamed. It sounds like you have so many healthy habits and have done so well, so I hope you are proud of that.

Breaking the cycle of overeating and bingeing is so hard and it can feel so frustrating to feel like you have failed again. I know this feeling oh so well! I suppose it's about being compassionate to ourselves, whilst at the same time noticing when we are turning to food for comfort etc and pausing and resetting. I realise that it is probably a lifetime battle for me, but have definitely done better at stopping and refocussing sooner (rather than gaining and losing 5 stone over and over!)

Hopefully we can all be here for each other through support and understanding. There's certainly no judgement from me x

I can personally say I've lost 35kg this past year, and my brother is down 20 kg in 5 months

SilenceInside · 17/09/2026 15:38

@Ilana45 are you aware that there are no legal regulated sources of “peptides” for weight loss, you are suggesting people take illegal black market fake prescription meds. Obviously a stupid and dangerous thing to do. The fact that apparently you and your brother have not yet come to harm is through luck rather than judgement and is no advert as to the safety of these fake meds. Never mind the fact that the sales often support organised crime gangs.

beetlebum84 · 17/09/2026 17:56

I can't see what has been posted about peptides but this thread is not for that. This is about people supporting each other to make healthy choices and feel better.

I don't have lots of weight to lose and certainly won't be taking any medication. I like having the accountability and support and it helps me stay on track.

12.4lbs this am so two pounds off since last week and 7lbs from when I started. Am planning on losing 1-2lb a week and eating more healthily. So far I am doing well with making better choices. The real reason I can do this now is a job change that means I don’t reach 5pm starving, knackered and magnetically drawn to crisps and fried food. It feels normal and sustainable as I am not craving food.

beetlebum84 · 17/09/2026 19:55

Well done @Bromatic 7lbs is amazing! And glad to hear that your new job has resulted in positive changes for you. I know how much stress and tiredness impacts my food choices!

Thanks Beetlebum:)

iamyourequal · 17/09/2026 22:41

Congratulations @Bromatic and welcome @Doyouthinktheyknow don’t beat yourself up about the eating. You are doing an amazing job walking that many miles a week!
I am only on day 4 but it’s really helping posting on this thread. I’ve not eaten any junk and I’ve not had any wine this week either (a minor miracle for me).
I’ve been on a lifetime battle too @beetlebum84 I feel I’ve put so much thought and effort into counting calories, restricting, trying to make healthy choices over the years that I deserve to be skinny instead of chunky and it’s just not fair! Perhaps I’m just kidding myself 😂
Anyway night all. Have a good day tomorrow

beetlebum84 · 18/09/2026 07:51

@iamyourequal I know, right?! 🤣 I've spent way to much of my life on a diet or worrying about food! Unfortunately, I've also spent large periods of time doing the complete opposite, so I guess I can't expect to be a super model!

I'm all about trying to find a balance now and trying hard to stop the binge/restrict cycle.

Have a great day everyone 😀

Hi all. Well the weekend hasn’t gone as well as planned. I have had healthy meals……..plus wine, crisps, and some chocolate 🤦‍♀️. I was very stressed by the weekend and just thought I’d have a miserable weekend if I didn’t treat myself a little!

Back on the wagon tomorrow and still hoping for a small loss as I was very strict during the week. How’s everyone else’s weekends?

beetlebum84 · 21/09/2026 07:31

Hi @iamyourequal sorry to hear you've had a difficult weekend. Don't beat yourself up about the extra snacks, it's so easy to reach for the chocolate and wine when feeling stressed. The good thing is, you've eaten healthy meals otherwise and have got back on the wagon today. We are all going to have blips, but I think as long as we maintain healthy habits overall and keep on going, we'll get there eventually.

My weekend has been busy but nice. I went to the theatre with my best friend on Saturday night and managed to avoid the temptation to buy sweets and alcohol at the theatre bar. I went for a good walk yesterday and have my gym class booked this morning.

My weight seems to have plateauxed a bit at the moment, which feels frustrating but I know I need to keep going. I am coming to the end of my period, so hoping once I'm through the other side, I will have a bit of a drop again.

Hope everyone else is doing well and has good week x

KitschIntoKitchen · 21/09/2026 17:10

Well, I’m failing miserably. Have a horrible cold and haven’t been to the gym for a week. I’ve also been relying on comfort foods and stodge.
Will start again when I feel better.
Well done on your weight loss OP

HorseandHeron · 21/09/2026 17:24

Can I join you? I also put on 10lb over the summer, and already had 10lb to lose, so I am now 20lb overweight.

I am very bad at dieting. The only way I lose weight usually is by massively increasing exercise and trying to eat healthily. But this tme, I think I really do need to try a deficit.

beetlebum84 · 21/09/2026 18:06

Sorry you've been unwell @KitschIntoKitchen sometimes stodge is the only way when you feel rubbish!

And of course @HorseandHeron welcome along. I'm not good a big deficits either and have lost most of my weight by being mindful and walking everyday. It was a lot slower, but generally stops me falling completely off the wagon. (She says after making a post about doing just that!). I have dieted all my life and always failed so trying my best to be healthy but not restrictive.

iamyourequal · 21/09/2026 22:39

Thank you @beetlebum84 Your weekend sounds great- well done on resisting the theatre bar! You are not failing @KitschIntoKitchen , you are ill! It throws everything out the window- just be kind to yourself until you get your strength back.
welcome @HorseandHeron Im new too and have only lost one sorry little pound so far 😂 We can all battle it together!
Im back at work today, busy week ahead but determined to be healthy and count the calories all week and weekend.

Bromatic · 22/09/2026 16:35

Love the support and realism on this thread. Colds and bad weeks are all things we will all have and can bounce back from.

I got my cholesterol done - 5.7 so too high but I thought it would be worse! Have found it quite motivating when it comes to choices. Spent twelve hours driving at the weekend and didn’t eat any crisps - a miracle!

Snowcanwait · 22/09/2026 16:46

I’d like to join this.

I lost 13kg prior to turning 40 (and still had another 10kg to lose!) through fasting and loads of walking.

Developed plantar fasciitis so had to really reduce walking as it was so painful. Then got unwell and had to reduce physical activity. Starting to recover from my illness now but unfortunately I’ve now put all the 13kg back on plus another 3kg on top!

argh.

So far I’ve started Pilates and that’s really been helping with strength. He also increased walking again but am careful not to walk too much when the plantar flares up as don’t want to go back to square 1.

But the main issue is my diet and not being consistent.

So plan is on Thursday (day off) to start eating a really healthy and protein rich breakfast (am a veggie so need to figure out how will do this) and see if that helps reduce cravings in day. And up my water.

small steps.

not even going to start weighing yet.

I also have cookies to finish 🥴

beetlebum84 · 23/09/2026 07:13

I agree @Bromatic it's good to be able to share honestly about the ups and downs. Well done on surviving your drive and hopefully your cholesterol with start coming down as you progress.

Welcome along @Snowcanwait it sounds like you've been through a lot. I had a period of plantar fasciitis a couple of years ago and it is absolutely horrible. It's so frustrating to have to start again when you did so well before, but well done for getting back on it

I had a difficult day yesterday and ended up having a bit of an emotional binge in the evening after dinner. (2 bowls of cereal and left over pizza). This morning I've woken up and avoided the scales because I know I won't like what I see! I was down to 10st 1.6lbs yesterday, which would have been about a 1lb this week, but pretty certain it's not that today!

Anyway, back to it. I recognise that emotional eating is occasionally going to raise it's head and I need to be able to accept I have done it, recognise why, let it go, and refocus. Today is a new day.

Aw yeah you are right not to let it get to you. Most of us go there more than we would like to. Worst thing you can do is react and totally restrict.

Just move on.

beetlebum84 · 23/09/2026 17:29

I've had a better day today. Just got back from a nice walk with my friend and have eaten sensibly today and having chilli for dinner.

I just need to get through the evening without being pulled to the cereal cupboard and I'll be back on track.

Every other week my husband works nights and it is so much harder to refrain from evening snacking when nobody can see you!
