Has anyone tried Japanese Walking?

I keep seeing Japanese Walking being recommended. It's interval walking, you do 3 min fast and then 3 min slow for 30 min. Supposedly it is better for you than getting 10,000 steps per day. If true that would be a lot less time spent walking! Has anyone tried it?

What Experts Think About the Japanese Walking Trend

Japanese walking, also known as interval walking, is the best way to level up your daily strolls.

I think possibly I have?

Basically, after a spinal injury, I had to find something I could do and build up before going back to the gym (which I’m afraid I never did, although I’m thinking about it again). So for awhile after I got used to just walking outside, I did interval walks because I did originally plan to go back to the gym and be on the cardio machines.

I can’t see how it would help you lose weight unless you were very sedentary in the first place. But I have to walk everywhere as I can no longer drive and I can’t say that that’s been helpful for losing weight

I have lost some weight, there’s a lot more to go. But it’s all about diet, unfortunately. In really busy periods where I clock up more steps or more exercise, it doesn’t have any effect on my weight.

By all means go ahead and do it because it’s healthy, I’m not knocking exercise, I just find walking isn’t up to much
