Just so so proud of myself. I was at my heaviest weight for around 2 years and truly questioned whether I had the strength to lose the weight. J think deep down I was worried I wouldn’t as the task seemed almost impossible

But I’ve bloody done it. Taken about a year and half as I’ve been up and down. Taken very long breaks to just maintain (talking 5 months over Winter) etc.

i feel wonderful! Just wanted to share as people irl are supportive but I think they’re sick of hearing about my weight

It’s boring but I just switched to eating high protein, low carb. Aim not to eat more than 1400 calories. Don’t really calorie count now as I have a rough idea of my go to meals.

I now go to the gym 3-4 x a week. If I have the time i force myself to walk to the station/shops. Which in Summer I actually do enjoy. Put on an audiobook.

I also really utilise zero/ low calorie drinks and foods. So if I’m peckish I will make an almond milk iced latte with sweetener. Only 25 calories but it gives me that mental release of wanting something. Pickled veg is a new favourite. Always have different marinades that I’m trying for my chicken breast (go to snack in the fridge).

But I do allow myself to “indulge”. Ie if I want
to drizzle some melted dark chocolate on my berries I do it and move on. Same with spicy mayo (which previously I would’ve deprived myself of). I don’t let perfect to get in the way of good enough. Stops me thinking “fuck it I’ve had some mayo might as well eat all the kids’ chips and start again tomorrow”

Im SO lucky that I enjoy Greek yoghurt cause I eat a lot of it with berries and homemade low carb keto. Ninja creami has been very useful!

Sounds great.

What are zero calorie snacks?

sorry meant very low cal - spicy pickles, pickled veg, frozen ice lollies (love to freeze sprite), chicken broth, diet fizzy drinks, zero sugar jelly. I love a tomato and onion salad drizzled in vinegar with herb, salt and pepper. If I fancy it with cracker I’ll have a cracker.

My ninja creami using 2% Greek yoghurt has been very help with all heatwaves.

Congratulations! Me too! In fact, 100lb since October 2024. I need to lose about another 5 or 6lb!

I am chronically ill and so can’t exercise any more. I have a low carb Mediterranean diet - so lots and lots of veg, olive oil, pulses, nuts, seeds, lean protein, very little in the way of carbs.

wow amazing! You deserve a medal 🥇- and I mean it what a great accomplishment

That’s bloody amazing
How have you kept your willpower in check during social events?
That is my downfall, also when I am due on. I suspect I need to focus on nutrition rather than calories only, to stay fuller for longer. Especially protein

Funnily enough those are both the two main issues I struggle with.

On a night out I have switched from drinking red wine to vodka sodas. Which probably helps a little. I always allow myself to order whatever I want as you have to enjoy life. I have tried doing keto when socialising but tbh I just get drunk very easily and have learned the hard way not to be totally in ketosis when drinking. If I’ve had a heavy night I just make sure to eat a little lighter for a few days after. I accept I will gain a little weight. It’s annoying and definitely slows progress but it is what it is. Don’t think fuck it and abandon the diet. My weight loss has been very up and down.

And when I’m on my period I always want to order something carby a few days before I’m due. Dominos mac and cheese plus two tunnocks tea cakes is only 600 calories or so. It feels very indulgent without being terrible cal wise. Similarly M&S have a few microwave meals which feel indulgent but are around 400-500 calories (like their fish pie). My advice would be to find meals that sure aren’t perfect but give you that mental boost of being a treat.

Just don’t give up if you’ve had a day where you’ve eaten an entire jar of peanut butter like I did this week (period related). My appetite is back to normal and I’m back to balanced eating.

Well done!!
I am jealous as low carb also worked wonders for me (blood sugar influences that “food noise” for sure). But sadly my body doesn’t respond well to being low carb even when I am avoiding ketosis.

But you have inspired me to get back on it again and make the necessary changes to get to a healthy weight. Thank you and well done again!!

Well done! I've lost 8 stone 2 pounds between the 1st of march 2025 and the 1st of August 2026 (and hopefully another pound or 2 since then 😂). There's been hard parts so I know how hard you've worked but losing is has been great! Congratulations!

Greenjersey · 14/08/2026 10:35

Well done!
I'm doing pretty much the same as you and steadily losing 1lb a week, so far 24lb in total. Same again to go. I'm around 1400 calories too, which allows for a treat ( currently mini ice lollies). I'm not interested in losing fast, more doing something sustainable and at my age it's about health rather than how I look.

Very sensible decision. I find with dieting the days are long but the weeks fly by. 1/1.5 pounds definitely adds up!
