Hello

So I am trying to lose 3 stone. I am calorie counting along with starting slimming world last week.

1 week on slimming world and I am having ibs flare it feels like. I have been eating a lot of 0% greek yogurt, normally eat 5% and I have upped the veg too.

I do find the swips annoying as they allow stupid unhealthy use of snack bars and other sugar treats but dates are higher in swips for example.

I have been tracking all week and I have been off swips for 2 days, as in, I have went over as I am also type 2 diabetic food controlled so can not just eat big amounts of carbs and so I am hungry, and want to add a little olive oil or extra something to make the small amount of carbs work to be more satisfying. However I use the fat choice for almond butter with an apple as snack.

If I eat more veg then ibs.... any advice welcome.

I would pick one or the other, calories counting or slimming world. Surely mixing the two is just confusing?

if you use an app like MyFitnessPal or similar calorie counting could be the way to go.

its more about what to eat while eating like this so I can feel ok, I am posting to see if anyone has been through similar and has any advice.

I use chat gpt to record my food and weight and activity - you can ask it to remember and log and work out macros - love it

Just calorie count and you can eat what you need to. Get a calorie tracker app and As long as you track you can eat what suits you. Forget slimmming world

Does the 0% yoghurt have artificial sweeteners in it? That stuff wreaks havoc on my digestion, and I don't normally suffer from IBS.

Fill up with fibre - if you don't want carbs, or the calories from a lot of fat, eat loads of vegetables instead. LOADS. ETA: I know you're looking at low FODMAP but there are heaps of 'safe' veggies you can still eat.

I buy huge amounts of in-season and well-priced veg each weekend, cook it all up in various ways then have it sitting there in containers in the fridge ready to combine into a meal. Add a lean protein and I'm good to go. Backup veg in the freezer and in tins.

If you have IBS and diabetes, try a low carb/no carb diet. Take a look at Dr Eric Westman on YouTube for advice. Very easy to follow and all advice is grounded in both research, the how it works, and practice with actual patients, that it does actually work with real people.
Good luck!

I think your confusing things calorie counting and doing slimming world. Get an app like nutra check and you can decide exactly what you want to eat. Log the calories the day before so you can see if what your planning hits the calories you want. You can do recipes etc on nutra check too.

I lost over 100lbs. I calorie counted with my fitness pal app, it's free & gives a breakdown of both nutrients & micros. I don't eat meat, only fish. I limit my carbs & have recently given up refined sugar. I relied heavily on fish & lentil dishes. I did it myself rather than use a slimming club.
