I've been thinking to start WLI/tablets, but I'm paralysed by choice...

  • How to choose between WLI or tablets
  • Which to choose
  • How to get approved
  • Where to get them from

If anyone knows of a friendly website that will lead me through this decision-making process, I'd appreciate it! Tablets are appealing because they're so much easier in terms of privacy and storage, but I believe they're not as effective as jabs?

Healthcare that doesn't involve the NHS and my GP as a starting point feels so foreign.

Look on here for price comparisons

I inject mounjaro. I prefer once a week injection to tablets but I also started before the tablets were available. You can stick with one provider or change every time you reorder.

Me and my dh use Mounjaro injection weekly as it’s meant to have the best results.
we get it from MedExpress after recommendations from people I worked with who were using it
We contacted MedExpress and they take you through the application process which involves sending them a photo of yourself.
It was a simple process. We had immediate suppression. We didn’t really alter our diet just ate less and we have had fantastic results and are now in maintenance.
good luck. 😊

I use Mounjaro from the site IQ Doctor. The application process is straightforward and there is a code every month (I find it on the price comparison site above) which brings the price down a bit. Several people I know switched to wegovy when the prices went up but found it a lot less effective and switched back again, so I would definitely go with Mounjaro. It has been amazing for me - I have lost 35% of my body weight and I’m now a healthy BMI.

Thanks all ❤️ It feels like such a huge step, but I know once I've got started it'll be fine. It's good to know that the selling sites are also the approval sites, I had thought that you needed to get approval from a doctor first/separately. Much easier to do it all in one go!

Do you just have to send in a photo of yourself, or is there a phone call too?

They asked for a pic which we sent. It was all done online. No phone call with MedExpress but they do ask if they can contact your gp which we agreed to. My gp then rang me and changed my hrt meds as the one I was taking wasn’t as effective with Mounjaro.

Whether you need to do a photo, video or video call depends on each pharmacy and what their process is. You may also need to upload ID such as your driving licence or passport.

The online pharmacies will review your details from the online consultation form, that will either be done by a doctor or by a qualified pharmacist who can independently prescribe. If you are approved then they will issue the prescription and the pharmacy will send you the medication.

Mounjaro is more effective than Wegovy (injections or tablets) but more expensive. Wegovy injections are a little more effective than the tablets and is only a once a week injection like Mounjaro, whereas the Wegovy tablets you take daily.

There’s a specific Talk section for Weight Loss Treatments/injections where you will find threads for each month’s starters and long running threads for people with 5 stone plus to lose, or 10st plus to lose, if that applies to you.

For IQ Doctor I submitted photos and weight/ height and some health questions. I didn’t involve my doctor at all, but when I told them about it (when I was there for something unrelated) they were very positive about it all.
