Clocking in early with 16.8K 🎉

I mostly stuck to my plan this past week.
I did all 3 of my planned runs 🥳
However only 1 of the strength sessions

This week I have got a lot on with work, lots of travelling and long hours. I forsee lots of marching around the house/garden to get the steps in! And unfortunately don't think it will be possible for me to get as many runs in...unless I go later in the evenings but 😴 not sure about that 🤣

Can I join please? I don’t think I can post photos as have a basic account.

I am currently at 12900 so will probs be 13000 by the time i trudge up to the loft. Also did a full body YouTube workout but didn’t have my phone or watch on. Having said all that my average steps are 8000, and were a good bit lower a month or so ago so will be a challenge to get 10000 every day.

Joolly2 · 26/04/2026 22:04

Good evening everyone, forgot to post yesterday 12,222 steps. Today has been a bit hectic, pilates, steps (10,072) and gardening. I'm going to be sore tomorrow.
Fell off the vegetable wagon last week so going to try and reset this week.
@10kstepsaday 16.8 is brilliant, your coming week sounds hectic so, wishing you strength.
@Yesreallyitsme hope you will soon feel better. It's tough doing steps when you feel under par.
@OrientalPrinceInTheLandOfSoup fantastic total.
Have a good week everyone.

@Yesreallyitsme I think I get the stress BECAUSE of the stress tbh. Its that or wine, and, well thats not a good road to go down.

@10kstepsaday I am struggling to fit the strength and yoga workouts in. Im not too worried, i was doing nothing a few months ago so 3 runs a week is pretty good! Realistic planning helps. Maybe even a walk if you cant run? I need to start getting out before work i think 😬

Just over 10k today, usually child free on sundays so planned a long run but one child stayed with me so didnt get to.

Anyone inspired by the London Marathon??

I have found another 10k to enter in June.

MooFroo · 26/04/2026 22:48

Hi just found this :)
started walking more again this week with my DS, who lives by an early morning walk and is converting me too!
Will be aiming for 10k a day and to join fully for the whole month of May - so much more easier to do with gorgeous weather!

Onegramatatime · 26/04/2026 23:07

@10kstepsaday , great steps. Hope the week ahead isn't too tough.

Welcome @Clearingaspace , @MooFroo .
@MooFroo, early morning walks are the best. Hearing the birds singing/chirping, watching the sky brighten and witnessing the sleepy town gradually wake up. One of my favourite things.

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine , you still did good even with having one DC stay behind. I used to have planned my weekend and looked forward to that time to focus on other stuff. And then for some reason or the other, the DC don't go for the weekend as planned, it used to totally throw me of course.

@Joolly2 , that's a lovely mix of activities you had today. Wishing you success in hopping back onto the vegetable wagon this week.

I went for a cycle today.. my thighs are burning. Did some very gentle weight training - Joe wicks' dumbbells for Beginners and some abdominal crunches. Did a thorough vacuum, dust, tidy and clean of the entire downstairs and a couple of the rooms upstairs. Went for a walk, came back looked at the plants waiting to be potted etc and decided gardening will have to be tomorrow. I lost the will to continue being active. I did laundry instead.

Steps today about 15K.

Lovely to see more people joining in 🙂. I got to 17k in the end yesterday and have managed pretty much bang on 10k today 😁.

please tell me there will be another thread for May, because my average step count since hoping in is so much higher!

Onegramatatime · 27/04/2026 21:41

Agree.
This group has helped keep me on track and accountable.

Welcome along@Clearingaspace and @MooFroo 🤩

Well done everyone, everyone has been busy bees!!

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine I would love to go before work but I am so terrible at getting up early 🤣
Also totally inspired by watching the marathon! I registered for next year, but I know it's a very slim chance!!

@Yesreallyitsme there will definitely be a May thread 😃

Today most of my steps were gained in the garden, cutting down loads of prickly bits, pulling up ivy and sawing tree branches! I am so tired now!! And have a lot of scratches on my arms!! Good fun though and just love being outside 🌿

Evening all. Just got in from watching Labyrinth in concert ( the David Bowie film) it was awesome! Been wandering around York all day so a reasonable total for today.
@Onegramatatimei don't do dance classes or anything ..I've just been out to see bands or to a club , I just love music and getting my groove on 🤣

A low steps day for me on Sunday due to logistics and random distractions, only got 5.7k steps. Better day today, up to 12.5k but I really need to work on my steps for the remaining days in April to try and drag my average back up to 11k or higher.

Joolly2 · 27/04/2026 22:59

Evening all, 12,197 steps today. Got most of them early this morning. Then things went to pot, I downloaded a new audio book, started to listen to it while I had my breakfast and that was it. Once I get hooked on a book there is no stopping me. I felt so guilty this evening I've been ironing while I listen to it.
I'm going to write a list of things to do tomorrow so l don't waste another day.😬
@10kstepsaday signed up for a marathon 😱 I won't be joining you!
@Onegramatatime thank you. I am really struggling to eat fruit and veg. I've tried a few and it was going well but the wheel came off my wagon. Starting again this week.

Wow amazing numbers of steps on here!

8818 here but hopefully I can make it up another day and average 10,000 this week which would be a decent improvement.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 28/04/2026 07:05

@Joolly2 which book was it? I read a lot and akways looking for recommendations.

@10kstepsaday I have been researching "best marathons for beginners". Manchester apparently!! In the meantime, I WILL get to some park runs (been meaning to for ages) and have my 1st 10k sunday 😱

How is the fruit and vegetable intake going?

Mine is water. I could go weeks without drinking water. I never even realised i rarely drank water.
I have gradually gotten better over the last few months. Last month, i was maxing at about 500 - 600mls a day. Now, i am at 1 litre a day.

Joolly2 · 28/04/2026 11:02

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine yesterday's book was Lynda La Plant - The Scene of the Crime. Last week I read Peter James - The Hawk is Dead, not what I expected from the title. I thought it sounded like a war story, how wrong was I.
One more I have really enjoyed recently - The Women by Kristin Hannah a beautiful story of love and loss.
I read a very eclectic mix from Jeeves and Worster to murder mysteries. What are you reading?

Joolly2 · 28/04/2026 11:34

@Onegramatatime I love drinking water. It helps that my water supply comes from the Forest of Dean, and tastes lovely. All the houses around me have a different supply and I could not be drinking that.
I was put off veg in early childhood by parents and school. I've lived my life without eating them. Since Feb. I have begun to try very small amounts of some veg. It was going well but stalled. Yesterday I managed a sandwich with some watercress, today I'm making a veg soup. I've found that I can eat veg if it's made into soup. It disguises the the look and texture. I also like a drink called Veg It, so long as I mix in some Lee and Perrins.

Joolly2 · 28/04/2026 11:37

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine Jeeves and Wooster. My spelling has gone to pot.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 28/04/2026 12:05

@Joolly2 I have The Women on my list ready to read. Im currently reading "I who have never known men". Really enjoying it, its very different.

I also read all sorts, I have read a lot of Peter James a few years ago.

Onegramatatime · 28/04/2026 14:12

@Joolly2 @Illbefinejustbloodyfine Sorry, hope you don't mind if i jump in on the book chat too... I luuurve books too.
Just finished reading 'The Names' by Florence Knapp. It got lots of positive reviews. It is a very good write but I found it really difficult. Very emotive, maybe a bit too close to home.
I am now reading 'Butter' by Asako Yukuzi. First few pages took some mental adjustment but now i am getting into it. I think 'The names' was a very strong read and it was still playing on my mind.
Like the sound of 'The women' and 'I who have never known men'. I will look them up.

When i am not in the UK, I drink lots of water. Gallons, no matter the weather. It's automatic.
Once i am in the UK, I immediately seek a cup of tea. Also, no matter weather. Also, automatic.
Don't know what that's about. I like the taste of water.
