I'm determined to loose the weight this year

Last Sunday 8th Feb I weighed myself and I had gone up to 89.1kg.
I'll be 66 this year. Had cancer during COVID.
Whether it was the right time in my head I joined slimming world on-line.
I'm quite shy so that's why its on line couldn't go to a class.
This week has been all about learning what I can and cannot eat.
This morning I am down to 87.3kg.
More veg has been eaten then ever before. I'm a very picky eater.
No pasta, cooked onions (ok raw) or mushrooms.
Drinking loads of black coffee and water.
I even started to excersise around the living room or going for a good walk.
Don't know why I'm posting maybe it's a record of my journey.

Note to self.
I know it's only a couple of pounds but in my head I feel better.
Holiday booked for April can I loose anymore. So much to look forward too.
Size 18 can I get to a 16.

Excellent start and I love the determination. Your taste and food preferences will change.
Vegetables is the way to go. Keep going and keep reporting!

Can you join a gym and start lifting weights?

roadtowhoknowswhere · 20/02/2026 16:57

Only 12 days in, no alcohol since I started and I'm not snoring anymore and sleeping better.
Wonder what other benefits I'll get on eating healthy food.

Well done, that’s a great start. Lots of protein, fruit, vegetables and fibre is the key! Good luck, I’m sure you can drop a dress size by April, you’ll feel great on your holiday.

roadtowhoknowswhere · 22/02/2026 09:03

Loss of 2lb this week. BMI is now 35.9 Tummy started at 48 inches can't believe that's 4 foot.
It's now 45 inches. Excersing is becoming a little bit easier.
Instead of a Chinese last night I made a stew.
Can I carry on loosing.

@roadtowhoknowswhere of course you can keep losing. It will slow down after the first couple of weeks but if you stick to the plan you will lose. I’m nearly three stone down since I started in September. Keep going.

roadtowhoknowswhere · 22/02/2026 09:26

@GenerousGardenerthats brilliant. I'd also like to loose 3 stone.
Just want to get in a bikini for our holiday in April first.

@roadtowhoknowswherejust keep doing what you are doing. I do go off plan for the occasional meal but get straight back on after. My weakness is Mugshot soup, some are just one syn.

Specialagentblond · 22/02/2026 10:25

Healthy and nutritious, and plenty of water and sleep are the hard workers here. Keep going.

roadtowhoknowswhere · 01/03/2026 10:12

Only 1 pound lost this week. I'm a bit disappointed it wasn't more.
3 weeks of no alcohol, no chocolate, no crisps no bread but more fruit and veg.
I'm drinking coffee with no milk or sugar. Lots of water.
My face does look clearer.

I need to lose at least a stone but on fluoxetine coming off it in April.

Lexie365 · 22/03/2026 02:53

Try the 5:2 diet, it's the only thing that worked for me (although I know do every second day so 3:4 one week 4:3 the next) but was still losing when i was doing 5:2 (just slower) i also find on the fast days I can go up to 900 calories and still lose but do try to stick to no more than 1600 on my higher calorie days x

roadtowhoknowswhere · 22/03/2026 08:44

A few weeks since I last weighed myself.
Down to 82.2kg.
Can I get to 80kg before we go away towards the end of April.

Of course, of can. You need to cut. Stop all snacks. If you absolutely MUST eat, have cherry tomatoes or a cucumber.
Cut the fruits to one a day, and not a tropical fruit or grapes. Have a pear or an apple or berries.
Clean the kitchen and do not come back to it. After the meals, kitchen is closed until next meal.
Be mindful of oil, dressing and condiments.
Put your alarm to 30 min earlier, lace your shoes and walk 30 min in your neighbourhood.
