As the title says, i have fallen off the wagon recently, too much stress and i am back in the old ways and 4kg heavier then last year so need to sort myself out again.
I am starting officially on Tuesday( possibly tomorrow) going to see a friend tomorrow and hoping she won't offer me anything sweet.
I love chocolate and thats my only downfall so mostly that is what i want to start reducing again.
Anyone willing to join?

I will!!

SDmdzMn · 18/01/2026 19:58

Me too ! I am 68 kg and would like to get down to 61 by April , my weakness is biscuits or chocolate after dinner in the evening.

SDmdzMn · 18/01/2026 20:00

I'm starting tomorrow, I do an evening exercise class on a Monday so it shouldn't be too hard should it ?? 😅

quittingsugar2026 · 18/01/2026 20:05

Great , i will not be bringing anything sweet in the house or buying anything for 30 days as i literally have no self control if its in the cupboard.

Would there be any guidance on what no sugar involves? I mean I think lots of things have sugar / glucose in unless one goes UFP free.
i would like to join in, no biscuits, chocolate (looking at you left over Celebrations at the office), cake or ice cream. Is jam and marmalade also excluded?

B0D · 18/01/2026 20:11

It should be possible, I’m in

SDmdzMn · 18/01/2026 20:12

That's the thing though, even I manage to not buy at the supermarket, I will send the kids to the corner shop and say "bring me back a galaxy bar" terrible I am.

I literally just eat, meat ,veg, lentils, plain Greek yoghurt with chia seeds, home made gronol or oats, oatcakes, some cheddar cheddar, liads of cottage cheese, oatcakes, but way too much chocolate especially dark chocolate like whole bar today plus 5 dark linor balls, 2 ferrero roshers so my rules are to cut chocolate out for 30 days so i can have it in moderation again not just binge on it like there is no tomorrow.
I am not bothered by cakes/ biscuits/ any other sweet treats, i just dolike it or crave it .
I will still eat an apple or an orange a day or some berries as i like it and i won't binge on those anyway, but chocolate thats another story...

Yes please! I have a very sweet tooth and would like to change that. I plan to start off by eliminating cakes, biscuits and chocolate. It will be easier at home but more difficult if a friend has baked something or I’m out for a meal.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 19/01/2026 00:11

Hello. I too must cut out or reduce sugar due to a health condition. Not diabetes.

my dietitian told me to
limit sugar to 30g a day. I’ve switched to sweetener in my tea to save me 5g of sugar.
But I still have Jam on my toast which I calculate as around 6g of sugar.

My problem is chocolate, cakes and biscuits. I’ve cut out all sugary drinks. And tend to only have fizzy water with a little cordial. And sugar is everywhere but sugar free sucralose plays havoc with my gut. So I figure reducing my sweet tooth is the only way to go.
(I had a McDonald’s raspberry lemonade. That had 40g of sugar! and it shocked me)

TheClangyClunk · 19/01/2026 06:53

Can I join please? I eat far too much sweet junk food. I’m fine to eat fruit, but anything sugary and UPF has the effect of flicking a switch that makes me want to eat more and more. So I’m going to be focussing on no biscuits, sweets, artificially sweetened drinks etc.

SDmdzMn · 19/01/2026 21:28

How are we all ? Here is what I have ate today...Greek yoghurt with bio and me nutty granola with flax seeds and blueberries. A slice of seeded wholemeal toast with butter. A cheese and mushroom omelette and wait for it....A slice of flippin Christmas cake 🤦‍♀️
Not horrendous but tomorrow's another day....

BlueberryFlapjack · 19/01/2026 21:31

I’d love to join please, but starting Wed as I have one chocolate biscuit left to use up. Chocolate is my downfall so I think if I can cut it out for 30 days that’ll make a huge difference.

TheClangyClunk · 20/01/2026 08:43

I'd like to recommend Eat Natural low sugar granola, had it this morning and it's really nice.

Cravings were yelling at me yesterday afternoon and I was very close to heading to the shop for some biscuits but managed to divert myself into some Weetabix instead. Not ideal from a calories perspective compared to eating nothing, but at least sugar wise it's good.

Iknowdino · 20/01/2026 09:17

I started this yesterday, so great timing!! Yesterday was difficult, very much craving sweet things. I did have a plum but I'm going to keep eating fruit, hopefully take the edge off!! Also went to the gym. Need to lose about a stone over the next couple of months.

I am very addicted to chocolate and I think just going cold turkey and not having any is going to be the only way to go as once I've had a little bit I've got to have a lot!!

quittingsugar2026 · 20/01/2026 19:16

How is everyone getting on? I had nothing sweet today except for one apple and same yesterday, but i really want some chocolate ( i am not going to though).

Well done quitting! I'm doing good today I think, looking at selfies of my double chin...helps me refrain 😅

sweetietooth · 20/01/2026 19:32

Please can I join. I am absolutely terrible!! Scoffed the last of the Christmas heroes today with am afternoon cup of tea, felt so gross afterwards from too much sugar.
Tomorrow will be my day 1.

Patagonia21 · 20/01/2026 21:02

No sugar today, apart from an orange and a banana. Do these count as sugar?
Also, are we counting wine as a sugary drink or is the occasional glass okay? Thanks.

PurpleFresias · 20/01/2026 21:37

ooh, joining in too as I started the "no more crap eating " plan on Sunday. I can't just have one biscuit/chocolate/ cake, I've got to eat them all, so I'm going to eat none! I will still eat fruit, as it's more if a upf issue. day 3 and feeling good with snacks of fruit, nuts, Greek yogurt. let's do it

B0D · 20/01/2026 22:54

I forgot all about the challenge! Went to training today and as soon as it was coffee time I dived in for the mini packs of biccies.
I haven’t bought anything but do have sugar in my coffee at home. I’m still eating fruit but from TOMORROW going to really try to cut out the bad sugar, chocolate, cakes etc

sweetietooth · 21/01/2026 09:23

Day 1 for me today. I am still going to eat fruit, just no refined sugars or processed crap!! I have just done a 20 min extremely low impact workout to kick start my healthy-ness.
My plan for today is - smoothie for breakfast, tuna pasta salad for lunch, homemade meatballs and salad for dinner.
Snacks if needed - HB Eggs or cottage cheese on a rice cake.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 21/01/2026 15:23

I’ve noticed I am particularly bad at work but much better at home.

So I’m looking at better options. Have a tub of cashews to bubble on and marmite snacks.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 21/01/2026 15:29

ive learnt a few things such as not all sugar is equal. Refined sugar is the worst as there’s no nutrition.

I guess there’s a hierarchy.
Whole fruit is best
I watched something that showed how much fruit (this extra calories and sugar) you could consume in a smoothie compared to whole fruit. Eye opening!

i personally think dark chocolate is ok due to the benefits - moderation is key.

biscuits cakes sweets chocolate are the culprits for me when im low or hungry or busy.

TheClangyClunk · 21/01/2026 15:59

Having an absolute shitter of a day at work so have completely fallen off the wagon. Will do better tomorrow.
