I desperately want my pre-kids body back. I want to loose about 8 kgs anyone one to join me to loose some flab and tone up too. healthy eating, little junk and lots of water. And some exercise too. We donot need to state our initial weight but we can have a weigh in once a week and keep each other from falling off the band wagon. Is anyone interested in joining me!!!

"Little junk" means we are all allowed to indulge sometimes just not everyday

you sound exactly like me -- same areas of flab and same weight loss needed... lets go for it together!

cookiebookie · 13/06/2008 13:54

Yes! I'm in. I need to loose about the same, if not more, to get back to how I was last year before I got pregnant. I have a wedding in September which is a bit of a motivating factor. Plus I live in a medierranean country so can't avoid bikini for the rest of my life. Went to beach a few weeks ago and wore my maternity swimming costume. V depressing.

hayley2u · 13/06/2008 14:04

lost some weight but still got soo much to go huge belly n stretch marks arrrhh

cookiebookie · 13/06/2008 14:10

How did you do it hayley2u? And this might not be any consolation but I have been wondering, isn't it better to have a bit of a belly than loose the weight and have saggy skin? Urgh!

yaz2 · 14/06/2008 07:50

great let give it a go!!!! Hopefully if we tone up as well as diet we can avoid the saggy skin cookie ( hopefully). Shall we aim for small sensible meals 4-5 times a day as I find that waiting until it the right time for a meal after the kids have been fed etc means I am starving and then eat everything in sight. How about exarcises. I read somewhere that a good and fun way to tone tummy muscles is to lie on the floor and raise you knees to your chest with your arms wrapped around them so you look king of like a ball and then rock back and forth holding your tummy muscles tight. first you roll so your shoulders touch the floor and your bum is in the air and then the other way so your bum touches the floor and you shoulder are raised. do it gentally and not too fast otherwise you may roll on your neck or hurt you back. try it and let me know what you think I tried it and liked it and by kids were ROFL (hey what ever keep them entertained. Shall we say monday evey week for the weigh in.

I agree about the 4-5 small sensible meals. I can never function on just three main meals a day, I am always hunting for snacks mid morning, mid afternoon and i get really low on energy if I don't eat then. I'm trying to keep it healthy though, like a plain youghurt with nuts, or dried fruit and nuts. I've also been drinking lots of water and trying to drink a bit of fizzy water too as it fills you up a bit. I know a similar exercise to the one you mentioned that my mum taught me, she is a shockingly-fit-for-fifty-seven pilates teacher: you sit on floor with your legs bent and open in a V shape, you put your hands underneath your knees then lift your feet off the floor and roll back slightly so you are balanced on your sitting bones, then intitiate rolling back on the floor with your abs by tucking your tailbone underneath you, kind of curving the bottom of your spine so you roll back, then use your abs to roll back up again. Try to keep your upper body, chest etc open and straight every time you come back up. If you get good at it, then you can straighten your legs as you go back.
Ok, shall we say ten minutes a day of exercise to start with? I'm gonna do this and some more from my post natal pilates DVD. Hopefully in the morning when baby boy is having a nap. I know if I don't have a time it won't happen. Ok, monday for first weigh in. Do you think we should measure our waists in cm before we start too, beacuse I think that as you tone up if fat turns to muscle you may look better(!) but not neccessarily weigh that much less. I think a waist measurement might show our progress better.

yaz2 · 16/06/2008 02:50

ok that sound great the waist measurement is a good idea but maybe a tummy measurement is also in order as most of us are looking to loose love handles from there. My waist is ok it the lower abs that give me a muffin top over my pre pregnency trousers that I hate ( it depressing that I am talking about pregnancy trouser still as my youngest is 22 months old)
I will also do the 10 minutes or more of exercise a day pilates style from a DVD plus maybe some skipping to ammuse my lo's. Tomorrow morning for the weigh in then will check in then.

hi everyone sorry for not posting this morning but my pc was being moody. O.k so here goes I have lost just about a pound or .5 of a k.g since I started last week. my tum now measures 34inches (just measured around my belly button) my thighs are a massive 22.5 inches each and my bum is 36 inches. I have a really small frame and am short too and trust that together with belly and thighs is not a pretty sight at the moment.

Hello everyone, sorry for not posting too but DH has been hogging the laptop for the last 48 hours...Yes, I agree about tum measurement yaz, that's what i think I meant when I said waist, so basically measuring the fattest part my tum is currently 39.5 inches (otherwise known as 1 metre!!!!!!! Yuck!!!!), my thighs are 24inches at fattest part, and bum is 41.5 inches. Yesterday I weighed 71 kg. To get pre pregnancy I need to loose 7 kilos, 5.5 inches from tum, 2 inches from thighs and 2.5 inches from bum. If I could go to the Gym every day like I used to it would be easy but not sure how i'm gonna manage it now. DS is only 4.5 MO and still breastfeeding every 3 hours. Today I was munching cake I made for DH's birthday - bad idea - it gave me a tummy ache and I'm feeling really bloated. At least now I'll try to tell myself cake=belly ache! Also DS has been crotchety all day and completely attached to me so no exercises for me so far. I am going to need a WILL OF IRON to make this work. MAybe I should try to drink a glass of water every time I get the munchies.By the way, does anyone know what a reasonable amount of weight is to loose per week? Another idea I had was maybe we should have alternate days where we're allowed a treat. What I usually do is be really healthy all day and then cave in in the evening. If I knew I could have a treat every other day I think I could hold out through the denial day and it must be those late at night snacks that pile on the calories. What do you think?
After today, tomorrow is definately a NO TREAT DAY

cookiebookie · 17/06/2008 07:19

Morning! I'm doing an early log in to get me started on no treat day. Had boiled egg and wholemeal toast for beakfast, heathy snacks all the way today and Im aiming for 2 litres of water. Pilates DVD is going on NOW!

yaz2 · 17/06/2008 08:35

good job Cookie!!!! I have quite good today too need to drink some more water but had museli and banana for breakfast. and noodles and veg for lunch. I have been drinking about 1.5 litres of water a day but maybe I will try to up that as per your suggestion. I think its just 2 of us left on this thread now! anyway exercising is not going as well my 4yr old is at home now for the next 10 weeks I have an exam in July (they always make me stress out and comfort eat) so with tow kids home all day my exercise plans seem to be rapidly going out the window. Does chasing them around the house count

OP posts:
cookiebookie · 17/06/2008 09:13

I think it does count actually! I'm counting on burning more calories when DS gets mobile!

cookiebookie · 17/06/2008 10:37

I did it! I actually did 25 mins toning exercises after DS fell asleep. Had a quick shower and now I'm eating my lunch. Thanks yaz2, I don't care if the thread is just the 2 of us, it really helps to motivate me! I am determined to make this work.

yaz2 · 18/06/2008 07:44

So am I especially as I am off to see my inlaws in a few week and am determined to have lost atleast some of this weight by then. I have done some exercise this morning and am drinking loads of water whats more is that I actually feel better for it as I feel less bloated than before.

cookiebookie · 20/06/2008 19:14
